A quick idea that I learned from Alaska Granny (another you tube influencer) is once your large size liquid laundry soap container (the largest sized container with the push in spout on one end) is empty you can thoroughly clean that out and fill with fresh clean water (and refresh that water once a month) to use to wash pans and necessary dishes. Save as many of those laundry containers and keep the water fresh in each one for dish cleaning. The more of those containers you have the more cleaning only water you have. Side note: inspect containers over time if there is eventual deterioration and replace if and when needed
@@domari221 I saw that too. I hope her dog Teddy will recover. I feel so bad for her and hope her grandbabies are okay because she did mention they were exposed to it also.
What about a bedside commode made for the elderly or infirm? Got the bucket right on it but smaller than a 5 gallon bucket a and it sits higher and has arms for easy getting up and down. You can use a plastic bag in it with kitty litter or sawdust etc. Much more comfortable than a 5 gallon bucket!
When i had surgery years ago, i found that i could mix Vinegar & Water to bathe with, kills odors😊 and don't have to rinse it off, cause the smell dissipates when it dries.
Hi folks i am so glad to be back watching . this last sunday i had a stroke .thank god hubby was fast had me at the hospital in 5 minutes . got the shot and a took worly bird ride . emergency surgery. i am home and recovering. thank gosh we have food put back. a friend came to see me and said we need to stock up at Dollar tree . the are going up to 1:50 to 7:00 . hope i am not draging on. ;
So glad you are doing ok. I had a stroke Jan 2023...same for me, got the shot and ended up at Cleveland clinic for carotid artery surgery. Doing well but do have residual balance issues. Hope all goes well for you, praise God and have a Happy Easter!
I would say that EVERYONE should have feminine hygiene pads on hand because you never know who may show up in your life, and then bladder pads can be interchangeable with it. You never know, under stress, that if we aren't in the least bit incontinent or semi-incontinent, we might be come that way. I have everything else you mentioned, as well. I am so glad to hear you talk about using disposables and conserving water. So many people are planning on rewashing so much in SHTF, but they simply are not taking water into consideration.
With liquid bleach not holding up long term, it might be good to stock bleach tablets. I have quite a few bottles (unscented) and it sure feels good knowing that they are in my stash!
@suzybailey-koubti8342 I found some disposable adult washcloths at Dollar Tree a couple of times. One time, the brand was Nurture and it has 10 disposable cloths. The other brand was Modess ( they carry that brand of pad) and it has 18(?) cloths. I asked and they didn't have any more, but I will keep looking. I need to see if they have them online.
Pine bedding pellets do a better job than kitty litter for camp toilets and are cheaper. Available at places like Tractor Supply and run around $10 for a 40 lb bag.
I also prep panty liners, which can extend the use of one pair of underwear to 2 or 3 days when water is ctritically low. Pantiliners can be called "underwear protectors" for men and boys if they are squeemish... just take them out of original packaging.
I used one of these overnight pads for my husband when he had a diabetic water blister on his leg. worked fine cut in half & covered with a mesh sleeve.
Vitamin A&D ointment and Zinc Oxide. Bottom irritations happen. Even for Adults. Also good for sunburns and minor irritations. Pantiliners and Kotex Pads are also good for pressure bandages. Tampons are good to treat a puncture wound, bullet hole, and nosebleed.
I would add coffee filters. They can be used to filter water before you purify it, dry food "plates" and a wet wipe to clean up. They store every easy.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. FYI kitty litter is the best thing to put on icy patches because it won't burn your pets feet or other animals feet. Its also great to put under your tires if you find yourself stuck on an icy patch. I carry a bag in my car just for that purpose.
I always chuckle about people wanting to use the tiny toilet seat on a 5 gallon bucket when you can just put a plastic bag in your regular fixture. Much more comfortable. I also have a raised stool on a stand with arm support bars we placed over the regular toilet after my wife had a surgery. I thought about placing that right over the opening to the septic tank outside if we had to improvise an outhouse. Just place a privacy curtain around it. Some pop-up hunting blinds could work for that.
I got lucky a few years ago & found a Danish military surplus field toilet. (For an unbelievable low price!) That thing is HUGE. You don't feel like you're squatting like you do with 5 gallon bucket toilets or homemade bucket toilets. I also bought a Luggable Loo, so we can actually accommodate more than one person at a time. One caveat: Do NOT use kitty litter in your portable toilets. It just increases the weight & the mess factor. It's difficult to dispose of in a sanitary manner, too. Instead, use sawdust, wood ashes, dry shredded leaves, or something of that sort. You can then burn your waste in a burn pit or burn barrel. You could even compost it or bury it far away from a water source if you don't want to burn your waste. This is something that you need to consider carefully.
We carry a bag or two of cheap cat litter in our trunks for when you get stuck. I am in NW Indiana just south of Lake Michigan. Storms come off that lake and they are wicked.
The double slop sinks on a stand are good for laundry, with clean side and rinse side. These have regular drain pipe fittings and can be hooked up inside or set up to run wherever you may want outside.
I used a bucket with a camp toilet seat and kitty litter when I was driving in my 18 wheeler and my husband keeps it in the truck with him. I had to retire 😢😢
I started using cloth-like rags to do my dishes and clean off countertops. One of these rags will last me two days so the box of 300 that I get will last me over a year and I never have to wash them!
We will use our regular toilets, empty water, turn it off and line the bowl with garbage bags! Might throw kitty litter in it. We live in country might make an outhouse. We are too old to try and balance on a bucket. 😂😂
You don't need electricity for flushing. If you have a septic tank, all you have to do is fill the tank and flush. Even if it's river water. Knowledge is power.
@@dawn1913 Yes, toilets are mechanical. If the water is shut off all you need is a source of water. If you have a river or pond nearby that's all you need. Any water will do.
I read that is you are on city water and electricity is off, eventually everything will back up if you keep flushing. The pumps won't work to push everything along.
You will have running water on a well if you have solar or a hand pump. We went the hand pump route but we got the very best and it wasn't cheap! I didn't want to have to worry about bad batteries or solar panels one day, or an emp. I can build up some muscles with the hand pump too 😅
@@Shellzandyolks-so4mt I replied but apparently the u tube people didn't like my answer so here I go again. It's a Bison hand pump. Google it. It was the best option for us and gives us peace of mind. It was a couple thousand but we'll worth it and imo much better for the environment. I can't remember how deep the well is.
go get a couple of yards of flannel. wash it . once washed, cut into squares about 6x6, then put your squares in a small bucket next to the toilet. use to wipe yourself, & put the "used" ones into your hamper to wash later. If they are damp, hang them to dry first on a hanger that has those clothespins attached. hand it on a towel rack over the bathtub or somewhere out of site. Also, great for other uses, such as cleaning fixtures, cleaning glasses, picking up small spills, etc. Endless uses& soft on your tush! use in an emergency where there is no water.
Last July we had a derecho go through our town and it knocked out power for three days. We are on a well and don't have a backup for when the power goes out. I have been saving laundry detergent bottles and filling them with water for flushing toilets and it worked out very well. One large container (with the spigot) will fill the toilet tank, and if you don't rinse out the soap before you fill it, the scent from the detergent helps keep your bathroom fresh when fans can't run. Plus, if you have to do laundry, you can use that to hand wash clothes if necessary. I also save water in 2-liter bottles with a couple drops of bleach. I had a few dozen saved at the time of the derecho and the two of us plus our two pets had more than enough water for three days. Each time we buy soda we buy it in these bottles for just that purpose.
I purchase some of the new Dawn spray foam dish detergent and also some refills. You can spray the detergent foam directly on the dirty dishes and it will loosen the Essie so that you can then wipe with a damp paper towel. Cuts down on water usage when washing dishes.

hand sanitizer is good too, I was caught out hiking and my deodorant wasn't doing it's job, a bit of sanitizer under the pits worked so well.

razors and razor blades, shaving cream, nail clippers and nail files, perhaps other grooming tools, however may not be a necessity for most.
