I think thats an old fashioned manner - I was never taught to do that and asked to do it growing up. I actually think I do it though as i tend give people a hug but I didnt think it was essential
@@leigh7507 It's very simple and gracious. When a lady comes to meet you, you stand. I think it's common courtesy, not old fashioned. I'm American, so maybe it's cultural, I don't know.

I’ve only warched UK version, which is quite nice, most of the time you see that the production has done their homework and people really are looking for a relationship. Today for the first time I’ve watched USA, NZ and Canadian versions and I don’t get the same vibe. Nice people are matched with weirdos and people are rude with no manners. I wonder is that the kind of entertainment people like more around there?

I found the guy rather weird, verging on bizarre. I suppose he's very intellectual and introspective, but he has some strange ideas on eg hating the sun, loving the moon, being a kind of vampire etc! He needs a woman who's equally quirky and "different" - and I'm sure there's someone out there for him. I liked the woman, thought she was pleasant, nice looking. But of course she is much more normal and conventional than the guy. It was obvious to me that she was going to reject him. (I wonder if some matchmaker really thought these two might be compatible, or were they paired together simply to make for interesting reality tv?)

He was also bragging about his health and how young he looks (he doesn't look healthy in terms of weight and condition). Maybe that triggered her to ask how much time he spent on making himself look good for his date.

What personality would you say she was? She states she's introverted, an investigator, likes people who can talk about weird things, and she's never had a boyfriend. She doesn't demo high levels of EQ with the turtle neck comment, letting the world know "she's seeeing an old school friend" when she's never had a bf before.
