It was fantastic to see the Coast Guard agree to let the captain stay on board. That eventually helped them save the boat. Often military procedure is too rigid and will lose subtle advantages because of their unyielding mentality. The captain was in his HOME. He knew that boat better than any Coast Guard rescuers who were aware of this and took advantage of his knowledge so ALL enjoyed the best positive outcome. Great crew. Great rescue. I bet this was one captain who was HAPPY to pay his SEA TOW bill!
Also you know where panels are, your switches for pumps if you can get them backup, where the access panels are if they aren't open. Makes sense to me, unless it's clearly getting dire but that boat wasnt sitting low in the water yet.

@@thomasdaily4363 Thank you for your service! I'm thinking about enlisting my self actually. I want to serve my country. Since you were in the coast guard, I got some questions How does OC feel like? Will I have a lot of civilian job opportunities when I am out of the Coast Guard? Will you still have benefits after you leave the Coast Guard?
@@gameshock3897 Thank you. I was actually in the Navy, but I have often thought that if I were to do it again, it would be Coast Guard. OC hurts, but it goes away after a little while. Not everyone goes through OC training, only those who have to carry OC as a nonlethal weapon. Civilian opportunities after service are hugely dependent on what you did in the service. For instance if you were in the medical field, law enforcement, information systems, etc, most of what you learned in the service would transfer to the outside. The benefits you keep after service depend on whether you stay in long enough to retire. I have full medical, etc, because I retired from the Navy after 24 years. Folks who get out after their 1st or 2nd enlistment (4 to 10 years), don't have the same benefits as someone who retires. I agree. The Coast Guard is majorly underrated by the public. Some people think their hometown cops are better than the coast guard. These hometown cops are out here sitting around looking for traffic violations and eating donuts, meanwhile the Coast Guard is out here saving people who are in a desperate situation in the water, and high drug lords that are trying to smuggle drugs into the US.

I look at them more like highly trained police officers that actually do good for the community... but comparing their training to a marines is night and day different. @thatniggaZG going to combat in the middle east does absolutely nothing for Americans. The Coast Guard serves the country, the rest of the military serves the government, it's all politics. There's no politics involved in diving into the deep ocean to save another person's life.

I noticed the swimmers wear a whole lot less than USCG Alaska.😊
I’ll have to do some research to figure out why that might be
The water is much colder in Alaska than Florida. The reason they have more gear is to ensure that the swimmers don’t get hypothermia.
