I was just riveted to the man walking to the back of the ship. Then he jumps into the ocean at 1:30 am in 20 ft. Waves. All 5 crewmen. Damn, that was crazy. How the Pilots hover in the wind ad high seas for the Rescue. Amazing. Then 1 rescue Swimmer grabbing each one. The flight Mechanic getting each one in the Helicopter safely. What a show, and inspiration. Great Coastguard!!! Kodiak is awesome. People need to watch this stuff instead of the daily dose of bad News.
When one thinks about the immense fitness training these guys go through just to apply, a fitness that must be maintained permanently, the skills training they undergo, then the Coast Guard training before they ever do a rescue...you put that all together and then these people literally put themselves in life threatening situations almost daily....for others! If that's not the epitome of selflessness I don't know what is? There is only one word that adequately describes every one of them...HEROES. My ultimate respect to you all.

There is nothing more frightening and terrifying than not being able to breathe. Or seeing someone who can't breathe. I had a collapsed lung, head injury, broken ribs both sides, a/c separation right shoulder and broke my back in two places at age 56! Careflite. I hit the ground with the force of a ton when my Arabian mare slipped at full gallop. Not being able to breathe on top of that much pain is beyond words. I love this show and the Coast Guard are bad ass. Just wondering how many medics out there thought when they said the ET tube “Sheared off” it was actually just the little plastic piece between the tube and BVM. Can’t tell you how many times that thing stays on the BVM when you pull it off the tube! 😂
Everyone knows the risk. HARD LIFE TO LIVE FOR MONEY TO PAY BILLS. EVERYONE IN THIS VIDEO HAS A THUMBS UP. Anyone that has a negative comment to make, try walking in their shoes. If you want to talk the talk I DARE you to walk the walk. It is so easy to talk chit behind a computer. This comment is to Kathy Nelson.
If you have a Bougie handy, it should be pretty easy to replace the tube. slide the bougie down the broken tube, deflate the cuff and remove, slide the new one down the bougie and inflate the cuff. Then confirm proper placement.
Nothing like jumping out of a perfectly good bird quite like holding the target during live fire training 🙀 concrete wall separating or not! Thank you for my safety & freedom 💕🇺🇸🌎
I wanna use some of those range day tips! My buddy wouldn’t stop bragging about his standing accuracy, so I made him go reset the targets I noticed he was out of breath an instantly had him shoot a group, it went from 2in grouping to 9+
My hat comes off for y'all because y'all risk ur lifes to go and safe people in need and I give y'all a A+ be safe and be careful of what y'all do each and every day to safe people that u don't no
There are dozens if not hundreds of laws around the country relating to SAR cases, more often then not if you being in need of rescue isnt your fault (you follow all proper safety precautions/not negligent) you wont get a bill. Pretty sure USCG doesnt charge for rescue either currently
@Marc B if coast guard rescues you, its free. If you are rescued by any other government entity (i.e. a sheriffs office or fire rescue service) it can depend on 2 things. The first is where you are (laws vary by state and county) and the second is if it isn't your fault (was negligence involved, etc.).
That fishing boat captain was as calm as me typing this, in no way panicking he could die any minute there I'd be freaking out big time.no point but ah well.
You can hear the anxiety in his pauses though. He sounds like he's sighing and his words trailing. He's fighting like hell to keep his wits about him but he was absolutely terrified and anxious. I sound exactly like this guy when I'm in a life or death severe situation. I get weirdly calm and focused but my heart is definitely beating hard. When my friends are freaking out and crying after a car accident I'm looking after them and trying to calm them. Ironic thing is I have clinical chronic anxiety that I take medications for. Lol. I can't seem to handle social pressures and job stress and school stress but life and death actually terrifying situations...its like a switch goes off.
On March 02, 2022 I went into V Fib and could not get a breath no matter how hard I tried. The panic set in fast and I knew I was on my way out as the darkness was coming for me. Thankfully the EMS arrived just as I went Black and in full arrest. Next thing I was looking up with O2 on me. I coded again on the way to the hospital, and two more times after there. The culpret was two blood clots I developed from being Wheel chair bound ( double AKN amputee ). Now I have an ICD planted in my chest because they expect more in the future. The thing about not being able to breathe is you are totally helpless without intervention. The fear of knowing you are about to die, and all of the thoughts that go through your mind until you lose all conscientiousness. You cannot cry out for help, I was lucky there was my wife to call for help after I alerted her and The EMS got here in time. Never forget to tell the people you love that you do EVERYDAY!
That captain said he was calling and calling and no one was answering sounds harrowing for that crew, not knowing if anyone will come to save them before the ship rolls. So glad the Coast Guard answered their call.
You don't have a look of fear when you're having a seizure. After, sure, but during the seizure, you're not gonna be scared because you're gonna be unconscious. If you're awake during a seizure, you're not having a seizure. There are some exceptions, but....not many that come up in true medical emergencies. If there is a stroke, that seizure is gonna be caused by A. Increased ICP, or B. Lack of adequate blood flow to parts of the brain. Both of which are typically "You're unconscious(tonic-clonic)" seizures.
As a young non-rate coastie we had the Coast Guard Commandant visit our base in Mobile, AL, it was Admiral Paul Yost, I was allowed to ask him a question from the audience and me being prior service US Army I posed the question about the odds of arming our aircrews, I was basically laughed at from the jerk Commandant and the other coasties. Guess what rate was developed just a few years prior to my retirement, you guessed it. 23:47 It just took them a while to figure out what I knew needed to be added to the mix.
Been there-dun that. On my 34 ft schooner, left hi & dry @ the PARKING LOT in the ICWW. But I had the boat leaning the other way to aviod the waves crashing against the deck during the night. They were big and would have destroyed her, me & wife too.
What is wrong with you? It takes special people to do what they do. Your talking kilts? Your an uneducated person making comments that has nothing to do about what they're trained to do. SAVING LIVES.
My guess is they had to go hard over to try and hold against the waves and it slammed past the stops and jammed, since they said it was "jammed" as opposed to not responding. Could also have been it just seized up if the seal lubrication had congealed in the conditions. If it had been a pump failure, or loss of hydraulics, I'd have thought it would just be flapping rather than jammed.
15:13 I have the same patch with the Afghanistan-American flag on his helmet, from my deployment. Looks like he mustve done some join NATO missions too.
If you’re in Alaska and beyond the Coast Guard’s capabilities they would most likely dispatch the Air Force 212th Rescue Squadron, pararescue airmen based out of Anchorage Alaska. The USAF PJ’s are trained to operate above 9,000 feet.
Their helo has a max altitude of 12,000’ I think when he called it high, he was meaning that the helo operates differently than they are used to at near sea level
Does anyone have a clue what it takes to be COASTGUARD? Think first and do research what it takes to rescue lives. DO RESEARCH FIRST BEFORE YOU MAKE A COMMENT.
Nothing like an ad coming on in the middle of a segment, where the intubation tube on a critical patient, fails. And in the ad it's an uptalking woman going on about feeling uncomfortable in her dance wear. I know, time for an ad blocker but, c'mon.
The firefighters really called in a helicopter for a sprained ankle? That’s a lot of money and danger for really no reason. Props to the helo crew for getting it done though.
I mean.. It makes sense. Thoes were extremely steep trails. The girl could barely walk, and if you look.. the airfield is literally right at the bottom of the hill. The firefighters could have had sprained ankles themselves trying to carry the girl down, and you're not going to want her to hobble on 1 foot quite easily spraining her other ankle.. I mean, yea. It seems a little over kill, but quite honestly was the safest and easiest option with no risk to anyone else.. and they over inflated the seriousness of the helicopter landing.
How many of these are paid actors. A helo ride for a sprained ankle seems pretty nuts, and that mother was like 'make sure the camera gets my good side'.
These shows are the real real! Thank the Lord for rescuers like these. No one should be flapping their lips. This is bravery, like fighting a war. THANK YOU TO ALL! NO MATTER WHAT FIGHT IS ENVOLVED!

Random question. What chassis and scope mount was he using? I’ve got an M14 assigned as a DMR however I’d love to mount an optic.
I got 40/40 on the Army M16 qualifying range. I’ve done it three times now! I love the M16. The 300 meter target is my favorite!
what does that have to do with this
Creeper_Ninja_ Didn’t watch the video?
They spoke about qualifications with an M16. So that is what it has to do with.
