Fun fact: Those aren’t “pinchers” they are really old hoof clippers or nippersfor horses and cows. They have been heat treated and applying any more heat to them would render them useless for long term use.
@BreadStickJuices really they aren’t at all, pinchers grabs hoof of the animal to put it on the stand while the other is used to clip the animals hooves.
Fun Fact: this tool is used for cutting anything flush. It is used in several trades including electrical, insulation, and carpentry to name 3 off the top of my head.

AleTusk thank you! I would like to have more fancy tools, but I also like to do things the way I don't have them, because I feel like Bob Ross - you can have fun with this little happy tools and restorations in your garage too
😀 i like you're way of powder coating, first warming up and then put the powder on, instead of working with electricity to connect the powder on the material. thanks for sharing this
@@ForgottenShineRestoration Just look at the painting on every car. Sure you know how much it takes to get a repaired car door before it's ready for painting, and your pincers lack of that surface flatness.
I almost still can feel the pain in the butt as I remember my old boss and his "teaching techniques' when I was an apprentice at an auto paint workshop.
Very interesting to see your methods..... Particularly liked re-use of the pivot bolt, but powder coating the heads would have been nicer rather than cold blue. Excellent 👍🏼🛠️😃
Hello Armando. Many Thanks! I also thought about how to make the bolt for a long time, but decided to bluing it, because I was afraid that the paint would flake off when tightening the screw ...

I congratulate you on the many positive comments for this project. It definitely looks much better than when you started and now is functional. However, your methods leave much to be desired. I hope in the future you’ll get a sandblasted, because you sure could have used one on this project. It was hard to watch you beating and banging away trying to get the pinchers to open. There are many ways you could have tried instead of sawing off the main bolt. How long did you soak it in rust remover? Sometimes that takes a day or two to remove that much rust. Did you try electrolysis? Did you try heating the metal? Try to be more gentle and patient with your methods. I’m assuming you are new at restorations. Keep trying and you’ll improve. To see true restoration expertise, watch My Mechanics and some of the other veteran restorers and follow their lead. Good luck.
Hello amille223. Thank you for your detailed feedback and the honest words! I will definitely have to work on my approach, I have already recognized this construction site for myself. I haven't tried sandblasting and electrolysis because I don't have the equipment I need, but that too is about to change. The pincers were soaked in rust remover for a day. My demands on myself increase with each video, I think you can see that, for example in the quality of the video itself. As I said, I also work on the content! Of course, I also look at the other channels. I hope you will still see one or the other video of me and leave a detailed and constructive feedback (like here) ?! best regards
Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I like to give new restorers food for thought and some good tips to add to their arsenal. You mentioned that you soaked the pinchers for a day. To help your viewers know that, it might be helpful to write that fact down below. If I had known that, I wouldn’t have made that comment to you. My apologies. Keep doing what you’re doing and, as with everything in life, you will get better and better. Best of luck to you always.
@@amille223 although I agree with you and you’re absolutely right, what I kinda liked was actually the fact he didn’t use a sandblaster, nor electrolysis, heating was indeed an option he could have done. Just for the fact not everyone has those tools and this made it realistic or more achievable for those viewers. And also to have something different, as you mentioned my mechanics and others are already out there and are just unbelievable in their art, I actually thought it was a choice not to go down the same road. Still, very nice job and can’t wait for more stuff, keep it up.

A restoration of a tool that has become an object to be displayed. In order to be able to work with it, it must be covered with something hard - for example chrome plating - but for an exhibition object it looks very good.
Perhaps you're unfamiliar with powder coating and how hard it is. Maybe look it up? The blade surfaces are clean and sharp so I don't know what point you're trying to make here.
