You were lucky, I repair Microwaves and most of the time when the fuse blows is because there is another issue, there is a door micro switch that when it goes bad it blown the fuse, they make it like that for safety so the microwave won’t work with the door open , if they didn’t have that fuse you could put the microwave to work with the door open , and you could get radiation from magnetron, also the high voltage capacitor when is bad blown the fuse, another thing to have in mind when checking a microwave is that the magnetron produces 3000 volts or more and the rectifier ( diode) raise that voltage to more than 5000 v , so be careful when testing, and after unplugging it wait a few minutes so h.v capacitor drains

I have Kenmore over the range microwave. Display and fan works, but after setting the timer, you hit start button and it doesnt make any noise or do anything...
Working fine ond day, the following day nothing. Any guesses what to check?

Yeah I'm not anywhere near an expert on electrical repairs, but a lot of the time when something blows it's likely not as simple as fixing one thing. I actually had a subwoofer amp blow a capacitor, and replaced just that and it worked again. It was a cheap amp so I had fun running it hard, and blew it up again but this time it fried a bunch of transistors and the board itself actually got burnt. Most other things I've tried to fix always are a lot harder, and you really have to learn what you're doing. I see a lot of videos about people just changing parts to find the problem.

IN some other videos on changing this same fuse they warn about needing to "discharge the capacitor" to avoid shock. You didn't do this so I am assuming it is not necessary. I have ordered my fuse and waiting for arrival but did want to check with you before I remove old fuse and proceed with placing new one. I find your videos to be much more helpful than others and have really saved me a bunch of money as a retired fixed income baby boomer. Thanks

Truly great video, thanks. My ex got burned by this problem. I acquired the "junked" unit and repaired it with a fuse. Should you choose to edit your video and you are secure doing it (i.e., no exposed internal wiring that could short circuit), I agree that you might add rationale or footage of an operational test BEFORE buttoning it back up. Might also say a few words of wisdom about (1) possibility of after replacing fuse it blows again, or (2) possibility of the unit still not functioning after fuse is changed.

Fuses will blow from normal use . However they will blow if one of the door switches isn't working. It will ground out the power cord and blow the fuse. So after you replace the fuse check the resistance across the power cord. If it is zero with the door open and closed then one of the switches is broken.

Quick question for you. The 20 amp fuses that came out of my microwave is a glass one with the visible wire inside and is specified as 125 V on the silver cap on the end of the fuse. All those I can find locally, glass or ceramic, say 20 Amp/250 Volt, not 125.
Will they work, and be safe protecting my circuit board inside the microwave? Some also say they are Fast, others Slow. Which one do I need? Thanks for any help.

Even IF YOU UNPLUG OR SHUT THE CIRCUIT BRAKER OFF ITS DANGEROUS TO MESS/POKE/USE METAL TOOLS WITH ANYTHING INSIDE THE BACK WITH THE COVER OFF SO NEVER TAKE A CHANCE WITH TRYING TO FIX IT ON YOUR OWN THAT IS IF ITS NOT JUST THE FRONT FUSE BECAUSE IT COULD BE DEADLY
