  • Earlier this year, I didn't make it to Osaka Castle. I had visited twice before and it was definitely a place I could still remember, even though it's been almost 10 years. What I remember the most was the bridge entrance, with the castle in the far distance. It is such a beautiful view and shows how a marvelous structure is surrounded by areas just as impressive. The surroundings that engulf the castle tower include gates, stone walls, moats, and a massive garden (which turned out to be closed the day I went). I didn't head into the castle this time because of the long queues, but I can see myself heading back to check out the inside someday.
One thing I didn't know was that the signature green color of the castle was not the original look. Turns out, the green is actually rust and the roof was originally of a reddish color from the copper it is made from. I personally find that shade of green truly unique and very pleasant to look at.
