Excellent job on the enhanced loopstick. The support looks 3D printed. For AM DX, I prefer a large air wound coil tuned with a variable capacitor for enhanced selectivity. Generally, it sounds like the front end of the receiver is getting overloaded with too much RF. The art of chasing DX on the broadcast band is in figuring out how to grab the desired signal clearly while rejecting any other unwanted signals. So, you might want to experiment with using both the enhanced and the stock radios with an air-wound, capacitor-tuned antenna rotated to the signal of interest.
The SOS button shaped like all other buttons is a pet peeve of mine. D-109wb same too. I use the radio in bed in the dark and don’t want to wake everyone in the house.
This radio is very nice and with your modification it becomes very efficient.

How to turn it off? The screen stays on. Like turning it off completely. So it doesn't show the time or anything on the screen
