  • The life and legacy of David Livingstone -- the renowned Scottish explorer, missionary and scientist -- will be celebrated at the University of Glasgow next week.
Sir Kenneth Calman, Chancellor of Glasgow University and Chairman of the National Trust for Scotland, will deliver the introductory speech at the biomedical conference. He says:
"This year marks the 200th anniversary of Dr Livingstone's birth. The Glasgow University events feature as part of the David Livingstone 200 programme of celebrations taking place across the UK and Africa to commemorate the bicentenary year, with the focus to re-discover the man and the legacy he has given the world.

I feel as though I would have been a more enlightened person at an earlier age had I known about Dr.Livingstone whilst in high school.
Makes me question the ed.system in the U.S.A., as I have all to often done.
Much is missing in our basic education.
This story, being something we all could have learned from.
No wonder my country is in such a state of chaos.
Greed, vanity, and corruption is an integral part of my society
    Dr.Livingstone is a true hero.

his life, Dr Albert Schweitzer's and Dr Thomas Dooley all mirror each others...All brilliant, hardworking men, religious in their own way, played music like tom dooley and schweitzer, went overseas to work for the betterment and welfare of the less fortunate, and gave their lives to their work.

All glory to God who had such a profound impact in this man's heart that it created a ripple effect so powerful we are still stirred to respond 150 years later. And that's all on Jesus. Periodt.

As of May 1st, 2023 it has now been 150 years since his death!!! Also, at 7:28, is this the Tree where his heart was buried at the base??? Very curious about this as he is my ancestor!

David Livingstone was motivated by Christian belief, NOT some "burning desire to help people." Stop minimizing belief. Celebrate his faith in action.
