It would be a much better idea to remove the people calling for these ridiculous actions.

What impelled David Livingstone was his Christian faith. He is much admired in Africa for his Christianity and the civilising practical effect coming from that faith. The current opponents of Livingstone are impelled by a different ideology and Livingstone's Christianity is opposed to that.

I lived and worked in Zambia for 3 years in the 1970s. The Zambian people love him and its significant that after independence Victoria falls and the town of Livingstone were not renamed.

If Livingstone's statue is to be removed lets hope it's first offered to the citizens of Blantyre, present day Malawi's business Capital who decided after Independence not to rename the City. Perhaps more appropriately the statue should be donated to the people of Zambia for their David Livingstone Memorial Site at the exact location where he died (and had his heart removed by the Africans, before returning the body to the UK) as they were of the opinion that, "his heart should be buried in Africa". Thinking about it, Livingstone's statue SHOULD BE REMOVED and given to MORE WORTHY PEOPLE who know more about him than Glasgow City Council.
