I think that was patented by Bell Labs in 1965... It's called Bell Wire, The patent date was 01/04/1965.

Funny thing, as far as I can see, bell wire or speaker wire is just twin feeder with an impedance of around 72-75 ohms!

I thought you were going to say there was going to be a twin feeder but with braid around it - and I was going to say that actually exists, it's called twinax! Has anyone tried twinax for ham radio?
