Basically Google PM is great if you have no experience and using it for entry level, but the PMP is impossible to get unless you already in the field. Both are great and both have their uses. I'm taking the Google PM now and its been amazing. One more course to go!
I’ve been looking for this video for awhile thanks for the contrast. Currently taking the Google Project Management Course and it has a lot of great tools for project management. In each lesson they give you project management tools, excel sheets, charts and all of their formatting. One of the most robust courses I’ve ever taken. Great video! 🎩
After earning the Google project manager certification, did you find a job as a project manager? I'm looking for it as well, but I want to work after it. Is it more valuable than the rest of the PM certificates? ?
@@reviewsbyankisodia I found a job managing project managers however I have an extensive background in project management as well. The PMP was icing for employers.
Nice explanation sir, you are doing indeed wonderful work. I am already PMP certified and at the same time have done couple of modules of Google PM Certificate, the thing which I liked is the concept of OKR (Objectives and Key Results), its very practical approach to enhance your business or project success.
Hi Mehboob, thanks for sharing your experience with the Google PM certificate. I think it will be great if we can do a video together once you are done with the certification, it will definitely help the community. Feel free to drop a note to shoaib@pmclounge.com 😊👍
I hold my Google PMP certificate. It is very useful to get overview of project management for those dont who have idea what is project management and its concept.
I personally feel that even though I did not take or will not plan to take PMP, I really feel the PMP program has better material than Google PM. Google PM is a bit too casual or less rigorous on materials provided, even with supplements from Coursera and other outside resources. Some experience: I started out as a worker (precisely fulfillment associate, working with a provisioning team) at a data analytics and AI company, involving technology with devices and clinical trial apps. In the department I am currently in, I am exposed to different types of job positions, including PM and Technical Support. Despite of being PMs (PM, Senior PM, Assistant Director and Director), their levels are barely at the golden standard. But, as the department is heavily inspired by PMs, I became influenced by PM team who showed some, but not all level of PM knowledge. So as I don't only ship kit units, but also follow up with team like a PM, I started taking Google PM certificate on Coursera as well as other mini supplements from Projects, and I find that Google PM tends a bit toward brevity over clarity. Comparing all PM related material on Coursera, I kinda feel those who created the project actually show real experience with PM. I've also checked PMP, and boy is the content very extensive and advanced. As long as you are willing to learn more, PMP material is your true self-studying hero. Google PM certificate acts as the refresher for anyone at any level (actually managed to complete assessments without the need to read all material as they don't require genuine advanced prerequisite; just pure logic and non-formal PM IQ). Great video and also great information shared!
Brother, I have 13+ years of experience in software testing.. I played role of QA lead, Manager,... I am a b. Tech graduate... I don't have exact Project management experience.. But i am veteran in Agile projects... How to show project management experience for appling PMP certification? Will they see my resume? Or any back ground check?
The Program Management Institute sounds like a trademark racket--unless you meet "our" standard (and pay us premium fees) then your certificate is sub-par. Does PMI deliver real PM value--or is it more of some sort of money-making snobbery? There are HUNDREDS of universities and several fortune five hundred companies offering their own PMP like certification courses at great cost; but unless you pay the fee and pass the PMI "bar" you're not a real professional? Your PMP moniker is a Chinese knock off? Just as the Chinese have discovered, those who control industry standards, make money and control the industry..
Hi👋, Actually i planning to move my career in Project management. I had some few doubts it will be great if u help me with that ( anyone who's having answer for this also pls cmt it) " i can't find proper answer in anywhere ". My doubts are, 1. What are the roles & responsibilities of project management team in hierarchy basis like (junior BA > BA > junior PM > PM > PO) & the skills they need yo develop 2. Is the project manager or any one in the team of project management had to know the knowledge of coding/ program language skills in TECH domain. 3. What are the key certification those project management team persons had to pursue. 4. Is the project manager can able to switch domains like TECH to retail or any filed where there is need of project management.
Thanks for your video. I have a question. Would this preparation course for Google Project Management be counted as required 35 hours of project management training pre-requisite ? Thanks in advance. Kind regards,
Hi Aleksander, few things to consider are, 1. Is this training 35 hours long? 2. Are you getting a proof of attending this project management training, like a certificate that says you have attended this training for 35 hours? This is needed in case PMI selects your application for audit On the whole I would still urge you to get a training that aligns with the PMP so that you are better prepared for the PMP exam.
