    Hi Ellen! I'm so in love with watercolors and their transparency that I can't go with only gouache - maybe it would be good for my illustrations if I combine watercolors and then gouache for some detailes? when I watch you paint, I think they look very similar to tempera paints? can you compare them if you used tempera sometimes? And I love those little landscapes 😍😍💖🌲🌲🌼 it looks very easy but beautiful 😍👏👏 thanky ou for sharing this and have a great day! Marija 💖

    It'd be lovely to see you do more Gouache. It's a lovely medium. You do absolutely fantastic tutorials using Gouache and there really aren't that many UA-cam channels doing Gouache.
    Edit: Is it just me or is that washi tape crooked? Or is it just the dots??

    I absolutely loved that. I am so pleased with my results. Thanks for bringing that to us! One question, the gouache I was using (cheap) was having a ahrd time covering the paper, as in you could see the grain, and so I blended too much. I prefer the look you have. Do you think it's because the paints are cheap, I needed to water it down more, or the paper (watercolour) was too coarse? Thanks!

    I'm new....to everything and this looks so so doable. I looked at one of the 5 tube sets (basically what I can afford) of Holbein and the reviews were the opposite of what you are saying. That they can't be reworked/reactivated and dry out fast also not recommended for beginners...sigh . You made it all sound too good to be true. I'm sure I was looking at something entirely different than what you buy but it was the Holbein brand. Thanks for sharing this exciting medium

    • @ellencrimitrent
      @ellencrimitrent  3 роки тому +2

      I am telling you I have used this brand for over 25 yrs and will ONLY buy them I get the cheap white gouache and black from not so great brands but sorry Holbein is the best in my opinion - go look at Helen Dardick and Carolyn Gavin on Instagram along with August Wren- top artists who use gouache who use this brand. You can get whichever one you feel comfortable with but I only show you which ones I use and why. They are the best in vibrant colors in my opinion take it or leave it. I have links to the gouache in my video. Jerry's artarama has great prices also.

      You may have been looking at the Acryla gouache. It is not reworkable and will dry fast because it is more like acrylic than water soluble gouache. But regular Holbein gouache (that Ellen uses) is a water soluble medium.

    • @ellencrimitrent
      @ellencrimitrent  3 роки тому +2

      holbein has 2 types of gouache acrylic gouache which cannot be reworked because its acrylic and water based gouache which is the one I have used for 25 yrs- so your looking at the wrong one check out the tubes I have they are different than the acrylic gouache.
