- An angry confrontation between a doctor and his patient was caught on video. Jessica Stipe was suffering from a severe case of the flu and says she waited an hour and 15 minutes as her symptoms grew worse. Stipe told the doctor she made an appointment at 6:30, to which he replied, "It's 7:45 and we've already been working on you. We've done a urine test on you. I've seen you." After discussing how long the encounter may have taken, the doctor asked Stipe if she wanted "to be seen or not." #InsideEdition
I’m sorry, I’m siding with the doctor on this one. Patients act entitled in many cases, with zero consideration of other patients who may be dealing with more urgent matters.

He probably blew up because her complaint is ridiculously stupid. A little over an hour wait time? That's nothing! As a medical professional who works in a walk in clinic I hear this all the time. People think they can just waltz in and get the antibiotics of their choice because they googled their symptoms and know everything. Sounds like she has a viral stomach bug, which nothing can be done for, if she has energy to stand and argue she's not that sick in the first place. He shouldn't have blown up like that but I understand his frustration.

Doctors expect you to be 15 minutes early to an appointment but they can be an hour late to an appt. they made?! And then they have the nerve to get upset when a patient gets frustrated bc they're still waiting to see the doctor an hour after their appt. started? It's such an epidemic of doctors abusing patients time that people expect it bc they think it's the norm so they put up with it when really, all a doctor needs to do is stop scheduling SO MANY PATIENTS in one scheduling block so they actually have time for their patient and can also see them on time as well but unfortunately greed is the root of the problem at hand. More patients more money 🤑

Multiple witnesses said she was very rude, she denied that, the doctor said she was abusive towards staff, she also denied that, and so what made him snap I wonder? She clearly must've been a pain to deal with. I side with the doctor. He did act unprofessional, he could've acted better, but he's protecting his staff from trashy people like these people, so I side with him.

The fact that the doctor was in the lobby speaking with her and not in the back where he works means that she was so rude and unmanageable that the front office staff had to go and GET HIM to deal with her.
Either she was deceptive or this was reported in a deceptive manner. She did not wait for an hour and 15 minutes. It is clearly shown that check-in was done, lab and samples were taken as well as him probably reassuring her she would be seen. She would have had to wait longer in the ER.

That’s exactly what they did. They threatened violence to the staff multiple times. Were verbally abusive and the after receiving their copay back refused to leave the facility until the doctor talked to them. They were told by PD if they returned they would be arrested for trespassing.

I've had the flu... If she had a "severe" case of the flu she wouldn't even be able to get out of bed, never mind stand there and argue with the doctor.
Yeah, one time my dad got the flu really badly, he slept for three days straight, one day I decided to make him soup and bring it into him while he was awake which was like on hour out of the second day.

As a doctor, I know that no self respecting doctor would ever snap like this until pushed beyond a point of max patience. They definitely spent the past 1.5 hrs badgering the doctor and then decided to record only when he snapped. And yes I myself would tell a patient that if it’s an emergency, go to the ER.
Seems like she should have gone to the ER to begin with if she was that ill. I have no idea what led up to this moment, but I can say they were both out of bounds but the doctor is the bigger person for apologizing while she's playing victim and teaching her daughter to do the same. All she needed to do was leave and go to the ER, then she could have spoken with the finance office later for a refund if it was that serious.

I'm on the doctor's side. Doctor's NEVER walk into the waiting room. That's the nurse's job. The only time doctors ever come out is when there is an actual emergency or if someone is causing a disruption. It doesn't look like someone is dying in that room so she was definitely causing a disruption.

That’s not true. At the places I’ve been, clinics and emergency rooms, doctors will treat patients in the hallway and waiting room if they have no rooms available. I’ve seen that happen in emergency settings and non emergency. In fact the main clinic I go to will make you stay in your vehicle if you have any symptoms that could be Covid and they come to your car covered in PPE to treat you.
@@brandienichole7474 This is an after-hours clinic. I'd wager, the dr was probably working all day and she was causing trouble. Emergency rooms, the doctor will occasionally come out to give information about tests and general practitioners vary form place to place, but in this instance, I believe he came out because she was causing trouble. I have no doubt she was probably waiting a long time, but the dr was probably treating others while waiting for the test results. I've seen, first hand, people who will be belligerent and rude, but as soon as someone gets just as vulgar with them, they get very calm and civil and then complain about being yelled at.
All of this together, along woth the video suspiciously starting at the point that it did, leads me to believe that she was the instigator. He still shouldn't have grabbed the daughter's phone, but I think the woman started it all.

My own personal view is no one has the right to film members of the public without their consent, including doctors. They're not in the public eye. I am a hospital nurse and I can tell you there is another side to this story. It is unbelieveable how some patients can act. I have had patients try to hit me, kick me, spit and bite me, and threatened to kill me. It seems like the doctor was pushed beyond his limits and had enough.
Daily life as a psych RN 😂 but always check in with your manager if you have policies for assaults and how to report them and recourse for filing charges. Stay safe 💪🏻

God bless you for what you do; my favorite aunt (now deceased and who helped deliver me) was a school nurse who undoubtedly had to tolerate some nonsense from children and their parents; her daughter (now retired) is also a nurse but in a more ivory tower atmosphere - she was a dean for many years at two top notch hospitals nursing schools, Am sure the doctor's patience was exhausted by those entitled women who probably were rude to the staff (although it's conveniently not recorded). At least he had the staff's backs - kudos to him for doing so - many managers and employers don't do that. Also he was the bigger person for apologizing.

As a doc, I don’t let people mistreat my staff. Nurses, techs, and staff work so incredibly hard and deal with so much, every day. I don’t let anyone walk all over them. Ever. They deserve better.

I’m inclined to agree, however, we will never know for sure what went on. Regardless, he behaved in a COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY unprofessional, unacceptable way for someone in his position. The confrontation was enough, but grabbing the daughter’s phone at the end pushed it even further over the line. Unless someone is physically threatening you, you do not make aggressive contact with their body or belongings. Anyway, I doubt little will come of it based on his admittance of fault and apparent witnesses saying the woman instigated it.

I feel bad for the doctor , the staff and any one else in the office waiting. The fact that she called and was scheduled to see the doctor while she still has symptoms would be considered quick in my area unless you went to an ER or Urgent Care facility. She wasn’t concerned about any one else or she wouldn’t have been in the general waiting area with other people if she thought she had something so contagious like the flu.

He said, "Go to the E.R. and wait 9 hours." This may reveal that she is a Public Aid patient. E.R. is sometimes their only option because ALOT of Doctor's Offices won't accept them. This doctor is possibly upset because he took her in (being nice and making no money) and she is complaining about the wait. That is my story anyway. :)

Being in the medical profession I can almost guarantee there's a LARGE chunk of the story that's missing. Physicians typically don't get involved (since they're seeing patients) until it's the last resort. Losing his temper like that was a lapse in judgment for sure, but I'd bet the office staff was being verbally abused which caused the physician to step in.
