It got him to go watch the anime? Hell yeah. That's the whole point of the live action. This justifies its existence. Its a resounding sucess.
He's definitely lying who would watch all the live action and a full 30 episodes and still call Luffy, monkey. Doesn't mean OPLA will be bad I really hope it's good but this dude usopping lol
im excited to just go to school, and see non fans just watching it in class
@@ladder2056 I’m a science teacher and put luffys straw hat on my skeleton just to draw it out of any kids without me having to ask 😂
@@DefinitelyNotAnUndercoverCop bud you just showed you haven't even watched 1, because that is all it takes to learn what Luffy's last name is 🤦♂️
Black sails is assassin creed one piece is it’s own and nothing like black flag except they both had boats in them and another thing how does a Japanese child change to an Indian kid perfect example of stupid people acting like they know better trash is trash cancelation pending
When the editor understands why the Mihawk / Zoro fight is so important to Zoro, I feel this show is in good hands.
Loved her take fr
Facts
I was 16 years old when I first watched One Piece anime. The manga was hard to come by in my country but the anime was being dubbed into my native language, and it was popular too. Now I'm 40 years old and still watching the anime every week when there's a new episode release, and reading the manga too.
I'm the same, holds a special place
less than 12 hours away!!! GET READY NAKAMA
Actually amazing to hear people a part of Black Sails were also a part of this. That adds to my hope.
I believe all the ships but merry are repurposed black sails ships
My 17 y/o self is the happiest he can be rn. Heck same for current me (30), too
PAY YOUR ACTORS AND WRITERS NETFLIX!!!! It is YOUR fault we don't have a delightful set of interviews with this charismatic cast!!!
Step1. Dont waste money on woke shows
@@berndbernd3464 okay boomer lol
@@SupernovaSteven He's right, though. It's 2023, woke shit is overrated & overused. It's also sacrificing the coherence of the story & good character developments for "the message."
This show was written and filmed before the strike so according the the writers Guild and film actors guild all promotion and interviews are good to go
@@berndbernd3464 one piece is pretty woke from a representation stand point but I don’t think it counts as “woke” because it’s not up it’s own ass about it and Oda hasn’t ever made it a point to be said
Monkey (family name) D (mysterious middle initial) Luffy (given name)
It's killing me! 🤣🤣🤣
It's polite to call someone by their family name if you don't personally know them, especially in Japan.
@@GuyWithAnAmazingHat then, monkey san, or mr monkey
Boy you're gonna absolutely lose it when people in the manga also call people by their given names
I think she touches quite nicely upon what people mean when they say: The source material hasn't been understood.
If they were to simply show the fight scene between Mihawk and Zoro, faithfully adapting the Manga but cut out or rush over the reason for why they fight, the producer might say: 'Yeah, we did it like in the manga, it's just that we don't really know why they fight and that is what the manga conveys'.
The producer wouldn't have understood the source material.
30 episodes in and you're still calling him Monkey 😂
Great Interview!
He probably thought Luffy is the surname because it's after the initial D.
I don't blame him, he always introduces himself as monkey d luffy and unless you're already aware of how the Japanese introduce themselves with their surname first it'll happen
This problaby means they will not reveal Garp's full name
Considering that is literally his name Lewis
Bruh, be easy on him. The guy hasn't read or watched One Piece when he interviewed Director Marc Jobst which means he's probably a little less than a month 'nakama'. I'm pretty sure a lot of fans before who are not aware of Japanese surname and first name placement thought the same. What's important is, there's a whole new wave of new fans that are getting into the manga/anime which is a big W for every one, especially to Oda-sensei!
really injoying these interviews
hopefully there wont be any problem going ahead with this production team, such as underpaid actor / writer / crew, miscommunication for future seasons, etc. they relly nailed the first season
almost there guys 🔥
Keep it going
Gather up all of the crew..
It's time ship out bink's brew...
@@anthonyperez7296sea wind blows.
To where? Who knows.
you can tell she had a lot of passion for this project. well done ❣
atleast he said manga correctly. That i respect
More importantly, he said he is already 30 episodes in into the anime. Chances are high he got hooked 😂
I never knew it was that egregious, I used them interchangeably
@@adrianpg4460 when you watch or read something for a long time and someone pronounces it's name funny, it feels funny to me. for context, its like saying "Succker" instead of "Soccer". As a giga chad yourself, I think you are into sports and not into such nerdy things that I am into(you implied i am a nerd), you will laugh or comment when someone says "Succer" instead of Soccer just like when someone mispronounces name of luffy, or manga or anime. one last thing, being a nerd is awesome in my opinion
Please understand, not all people interested with the same thing you interested
Considering you didn't mention his pronunciation of anime I'm going to assume you probably say it ANN-ee-may 😬😬😬 If you're going to have an ego trip over an accent difference then you should really check yourself first. If you're so hung up on the long A for manga then use a long A in anime you pretentious *******
Warrior was such a great show
I want to watch kids reaction to one piece. Since every reaction channel they grew up watching or reading One piece. Curious if they will enjoy it like when I was young. Sorry for bad English 😅
I started watching One Piece when I was 10 years old…I’ll be honest it makes me obsessed with it! Though I don’t really understood the story much before 😂 but it’s really funny and wholesome Thats why it’s makes me hooked…but now, after I got older… when I rewatched it, I feel so nostalgic with One Piece and I can understand better the stories…
Just replace the battery in your smoke detector, come on you're doing an interview here!
30 episodes in keep going buddy
16:10 the first live action of an popular anime/manga* there are other good ones. alice in borderland is very nice and the new moving on disney is nice too
Let’s not forget movies like Speed Racer, Edge of Tomorrow and Alita Battle Angel.
Adaptation. Lets have fun enjoy the ride
Mihawk's look and theme are so Spanish, then he talks and it's Erroll Flynn
Can we get a wladyka interview as well?
Just wait until she finds out this world has slavery 😂
Tone to live-action? Was that felt? i didn't feel the same tone while watching it?
Spoilers in interview, 😂 but great interview
So much slack given to the OPLA creators calling Luffy 'Monkey' even though its just common to call ppl their first name in the west.
id like to know who edited the fishing scene. that scene was very odd and seemed off place. luffy smiled for no reason . I mean there were a lot of scenes that were strange, like the death scene of usopps mother, but the fishing scene rly confused me.
Monkey is his last name, thats how japanese names are last name comes first,
Yeah bud congrats you just found out
@@ParadiseDB7 no bud. im telling the host, coz he keeps calling him Monkey even tho he claims he watched the anime where everybody calls him Luffy. got it? congrats!

@@EliteEdgeK Right..and this guy wants to tell us the show is great without ever reading or watching the manga/anime? lol.
@@rohitrevankar7674well I don't think you need to do either of those to think this show is good. A lot of people watching this will be the same way so I would consider it a good thing and maybe get some people to watch the anime or read the manga
@@rohitrevankar7674 are you stupid like what tf are you gatekeeping for? 🤦♀️ That’s the whole point of this live action, to get more people to read/watch One Piece. @@rohitrevankar7674but that's literally one of the target groups of the show? People who aren't familiar with one piece and who would have never watched it because it's an anime. Its very good that he liked it without having any knowledge about it beforehand a
Never heard someone refer to Luffy as Monkey lol. You know his given name is Luffy right? the names in the Japanese system so its family name first.
So far I'm every one of these interviews I've seen so far, it's all been with producers/directors/editors/etc who were given the incredible honor of turning this literally epic into live-action, yet seemingly none of them even knew what One Piece was or was about or anything beforehand... like, as a die-hard fan, and as someone who's been incredibly disappointed by Netflix adaptations before, this doesn't fill me with much faith at all... I believe it would be better to find a director that AT LEAST knows One Piece, if not outright is passionate about doing it and getting everything perfect... I hate being pessimistic, and TBH I'm not completely. The trailers have me VERY cautiously, somewhat optimistic. But I still haven't fully gotten the bad taste of Cowboy Bebop out of my mouth yet, so it's hard not to be a bit worried about it...
I've also noticed that these interviews, or at least the ones I've seen so far, have all been conducted by people who were new to One Piece too, which is fine and honestly not the worst thing by any means in and of itself. But I can't help but feel that if I were the editor of a publication/media outlet, I would want to get a journalist who was an actual fan of the series prior to give the interview. That way, I would trust that they'd know what kind of questions to ask the cast/crew that fans of the manga/anime would care about most and want to know in order to help ease the minds of concerned fans. I mean, it's really not the biggest deal but it's just strange to me that almost no one involved with production nor the public relations side of things has any prior experience with this series...
The showrunners are long time fans. Matt Owens has appeared on various fan streams, etc.
SPOILER ALERT 14:13
One thing I want to disagree on, one piece is serious. At least it gets serious as it goes on. I'd say this is one IP that truly grows up with you. Not that you can rewatch old scenes when you are an adult and see hidden meaning which you can. Also each big arc is a little bit darker than the one before it. I don't want to spoil anything for new comers. I do ask you go listen to Binks sake. It has an eng dub, the song is an original song by the newest crew mate. It is very upbeat in tone and lyrics. Tho if you dissect it the song is rather dark and depressing. That in a nutshell is one piece. Understand one piece is a tragedy not a comedy
No, Oda himself has always stated that One Piece is about joy and freedom, there's a reason why Gear 5th is achieved through joy. Laughtale, Joy Boy, everything about One Piece is about laughing to overcome the sorrows of life.
Bink's Sake is not about the sad context, in fact it was sung so that everyone can depart on a happy note, and that he can have a last happy memory with his friends. And now he is able to sing the song with even more joy as he finds a new family, it's a song about treating life as a funny traveling tale, that's how you get through life.
@@GuyWithAnAmazingHat the song says how in the end everyone dies and all we leave behind are stories so live your life. "when all's said and done you end up a skeleton". yes it's about joy and freedom but the theme is tragedy the laughter is meant to sugar coat the pain and hurt that is so prevalent through out one piece. Big mom's tea party the wedding scene. Pudding has a break down from being called beautiful that is off set by an army of Luffy's exploding out of the cake, when Sanji learns the truth about pudding, it's intercut with Luffy screams how he's going to rip off his arms to escape and tells nami to do the same. While she cry she doesn't want to rip her arms off. these scenes or moments are not funny if you take time to look at them they are sad but when you watch them you laugh and it's easier to process the actual scene.
@@seankeller1560 did you say the theme of one piece is tragedy mate. wanna retry that
@@meatbleed I mean it is, so no I dont
Bro thinks he is shakki😂😂calling him monkey, Only shakki calls Luffy Monkey-chan, Anyways great interview. And Netflix pay up your actors and writers
Maybe stop calling Luffy Monkey?
Maybe stop making pretentious comments when you're a fake fan and don't know how full name is literally Monkey??????? 💀 God that is embarrassing for you
@@ParadiseDB7 Dude, NOBODY calls him by only his last name, and so nonchalantly at that, in the manga/anime. If this guy literally watched "30 or so episodes" as he claimed, there's no reason in my mind you'd ever even think for a moment to refer to him as "Monkey." It sounds so wrong and weird! As someone who's watched all 1073 episodes of the anime, and about 30 chapters of the manga past the anime and as someone who holds this epic story near and dear to my heart, it feels off-putting hearing someone call him Monkey... I've watched countless hours of anime UA-camrs and been on countless forum discussions about One Piece, and not even ONE single time have I EVER heard someone refer to Luffy as Monkey! So STFU with all that "fake fan" BS dude. If anyone is a fake fan here, it's you.
