You gotta check out music from "Bocchi the Rock!". It's an anime about a Guitarist and her band. The band put out an actual album and an EP. As a guitarist, Bocchi is a legit inspiration. The guitar is showcased in a very tasteful manner. For specific recommendations: - "Seishun Complex" Their most known song and OP. Catchy, very well made song. - "That band" This one is featured in an iconic episode. Guitar SLAPS. I think you'd prefer listening to the full versions btw.

Every opening Hiroshi Kitadani has made for One Piece is an absolute banger and perfectly encapsulates the vibe of One Piece. My favourite piece he has done is called Over The Top which I think is op 22, would highly recommend checking it out as well!
Hiroshi Kitadani is the singer and the man is dedicated to the 80s era of hair metal. He even looks the part. The best example of this (And in my honest opinion the absolute best opening he made for One Piece) is Over The Top, which has this big energetic almost ska arrangement and he's going absolutely nuts on the vocals. Absolute banger.
I love the energy in this song. One thing I want to point out is when they really stretch the "Ze" and "Ji" syllables; Those are serving double duty as the end of the previous line and the start of the next. It plays into the energetic and playful vibe that One Piece is about.
Another thing that a lot of people don't mention about this song is the incredible wordplay. When it says ichi ni sunshine yon we go, it is a playoff of the fact that counting in Japanese goes ichi ni san yon go.
This opening marks the start of the "second part" of one piece, as such they decided to make an homage to the first opening, the artist here (Hiroshi Kitadani) is the same as the first opening "We are". He's also a member on the popular group "JAM Project" who made the opening to one punch man.
The influence of late 70s through early 90s western music on the the Japanese anime music scene is strong, and I love it. Most of my favorite music to come out in the past ten or fifteen years has been from anime OSTs.
God I haven’t heard this song in a decade??? Like wow nostalgia rush 😅 I used to wake up early weekend mornings to watch OP before sports or music practice or whatever

Japanese music has SO MUCH that you don't hear anywhere in western music!! It's like a mixed bag of styles that grab your lowest feelings and throw them up high with so much energy that you can't just sing along.
I love this opening a ton, but it would be great to watch a video on my actual favorite One Piece opening which is Over The Top. Same artist and similar style in many aspects, but also the song has a really meaningful context where everybody is on their way to become the very best version of themselves and the lyrics and melody certainly carry that feeling. Great video!
the way u enjoying this song without knowing anything about it, the more i appreciate one piece even more, and i never watch someone doing like this to one piece song i think, so good for u and thank you sir. u should do "react to all one piece opening" and yes i know its alot, maybe u can make it part 2 part 3, thats okay, i still gonna watch it.
So glad your channel showed up in my sidebar! I got to listen to We Go! by a live symphony for the 25th anniversary concert. In a hall full of fans, it was nearly magical. You have to react to full version of OP 25 (The Peak by Sekari no Owari).
Out of all animes, I'm genuinely suprised he hasn't reacted to Assassination Classroom OP's yet, with the voice actors singing all of the OP's and it's so good.
Man, it’s funny you say that, cuz one piece as a whole is a wholesome goofy show, but with a serious and really dark undertone, so it makes sense for the moment in the story as well as the story as a whole 🤘🏻
In terms of guitar solo in anime music my favourite one is not in an opening but in an OST from Digimon Adventure, the song is Brave Heart, you should really check it out
I love your detailed dissection of the song! There's a band called SPYAIR that is very popular within the anime openings. They have a song called "Sakura mitsutsuki", which is one of their best songs with a very nice guitar solo. I'd love to see you dissect/react to it
Something I like about a lot of "modern" Japanese music is that they really know the music ideas that the west has developed and they sprinkle in ideas without going overboard. Very detail oriented and clean while keeping the spirit of raw rock.
Whenever I listen to openings I get shifted to back then and how I felt while watching. Not knowing what lied ahead and the feeling to have reached it that far (this openings the first of "Part 2")
Whats noteworthy about the song: Ichi, ni Sunshine, yo ... we go references to someone counting from 1-5, ichi means 1, ni means 2, and then "San" would be the word for 3, "Shin" can mean 4 and "go" is also the word for 5. Remembered that when you mentioned the stuff happening in the end of the song :)
I gotta say we are not annoyed when you pause, like id love this video to be 30 min, it feels good when you praise a song we love, so please pause more :)
AND the lyrics slap. You got rhyme. You got meter. You got multilingual puns. It's just ... chefs kiss. Addendum: This, and Bon Voyage are objectively the best songs. But Over The Top will forever be my favorite intro.
This is definitely my favorite One Piece OP, IIRC this is the one you get when the characters first return after the series halfway point. It's also a "sequel" to the original/first One Piece OP "We Are," hence the name.
Some fun facts: The manga for One Piece started in 1997, the anime in '99, and yes currently has over 1k episodes (1075). It's the 2nd most sold comic currently (Superman being number 1, Batman #3). Definitely recommend reacting to more One Piece songs. Would be interested on your take of the 1st opening named We Are, and the 10th (which is a remix). Thanks for the video.
However the Superman you are talking about started in 1938, just about 70 years earlier and had 15.000 issues. If we are talking about collected comic book format then One Piece is #1 by a large margin.
@@meraketh You're correct about how old superman is, but OP is not #1 for total sales. One Piece is at over 500mil atm, Superman is over 600mil. I think One Piece will eventually surpass it, but currently it hasn't done so.
Perplexing fact: instead of an anime adaptation, the One Piece animated series is one of many supplementary works belonging to the franchise -- with manga being the sole canon.
Since we're here taking about One Piece: Overtaken. Its a a piece of music everyone loves. Builds anticipation on the absolute hypest moments. Overtaken.
Watching this again because I am on this opening in the show. It’s been worth the watch. Got over 500 episodes left, gotta catch up while the Egghead arc is on pause!
I really love that minute trumpet line at 0:35 that's just three descending notes and then it resolves to a quick little note of that lip technique I don't know the name of but there's an example of what I'm talking about being blasted at 0:32 edit: just noticed it actually goes does and plays two of those lip-trilled(?) notes in line with the synth
Since you said you don't know where this is... to put simply: Big tragic event leads captain to decide for the crew, after forcefully been scattered, have them remain temporarily disbanded for two years to train, having learned firsthand just how dangerous the second half of their journey will be compared to the first. And this opening... is upon them reuniting to re-start their journey after re-uniting at the halfway point after those two years, much stronger than they were before.
Have you reacted to the original One Piece theme “We Are” before? It’d be cool to see you do a video breaking it down. You could also include a reaction to the live action soundtrack version of the song and compare how they adapted it. There’s even a version of it that’s sung by the voice actors as their characters, which is so charming.
It's VERY difficult to explain without spoiling things for any who are getting into OP, but...the moment you hear Hiroshi Kitadani's voice belting out "jitto dekinai tomarenai" every One Piece fan lost their minds the first time hearing this. Kitadani's the guy who did the very first Opening (We Are) that defined OP as the high action fun bright and colourful world of Oda perfectly and before this Opening was heard we'd seen one of the darkest moments of the series, death violence, loss and a worsening of the world in all aspects. So Kitadani's opening here is to show that yes things have changed but it's still One Piece, it's still going to be fun and adventure and action with Oda's colourful world and it was sort of the perfect breath of fresh air that the fans needed.
These anime openings are made usually to be music first but be themed for a show. The music can usually be swapped to a different show if a deal falls through. For instances, the song “Fighting Dreamers”used for the show Naruto was originally meant for the show One Piece where fighting was originally meant to be Pirate.
One piece when you asked how long it's been running. I can say it's more than 20 years. So for anyone born 1999 or after gonna be like one piece grow with you. Something like that. Crazy right?
Tony I appreciate your breakdown of anime openings, even though this is not an opening, given the name of your channel, I think you should check out Drums of Liberation from One Piece, it is such a fantastic layered composition of drums it is brilliant! I am sure you will enjoy it. Keep it up with the good content!
Firstly, I love your video it’s concise but detailed and you actually listen to the music. |Spoilers| What I wanted to say is that this take place after the crew has reunited after 2 years of training to face a new part of the world and this song is meant to be a big flashy song to get people ready for the start of a new turning point in the show whilst referencing the first opening to signal a new beginning and I love it

I really love that minute trumpet line at 0:35 that's just three descending notes and then it resolves to a quick little note of that lip technique I don't know the name of but there's an example of what I'm talking about being blasted at 0:32
edit: just noticed it actually goes does and plays two of those lip-trilled(?) notes in line with the synth
me so ready to sing along, mr drumrolltony perma pausing xD jajas Always in for OP content
the last 20 seconds of the song are just gold
OMG, this video so cool brother!! ❤ so entertaining to watch you till the end and love ur energy🎉. Here's ur new subscriberr!!
This is just how most 90s anime songs theme is like for all i remember
Perfection
‘Over the top (extended)’ is another good song I’d recommend since it’s also by the same singer.
One of the best OP One Piece ever had.
I literally came back to One Piece today after a two months break, exactly where this is the opening
This is my favourite opening, it gives me energy :)
Now, that's an insane guitar solo. 🔥
Bro I love this music
Thanks for recomending this sir 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! One piece is definitely a top favorite of mine :D
i have seen video of this man performing ,,we go" on live stage, he is amazing
Yoo this is one of my favorites!!
Still haven’t heard an an anime op this good anywhere else
One of my favorite One Piece Opening!!
There's a bit of a throwing back in the intro to the first opening of one. It's very subtle, but it's a nostalgia boost
These anime openings are made usually to be music first but be themed for a show. The music can usually be swapped to a different show if a deal falls through. For instances, the song “Fighting Dreamers”used for the show Naruto was originally meant for the show One Piece where fighting was originally meant to be Pirate.
Ayyyy let's gooo! So happy to see a One Piece reaction!
We're gonna need bleach's first opening, "Asterisk" by Orange Range, too.
|Spoilers| What I wanted to say is that this take place after the crew has reunited after 2 years of training to face a new part of the world and this song is meant to be a big flashy song to get people ready for the start of a new turning point in the show whilst referencing the first opening to signal a new beginning and I love it
THE TASTE OF THIS GENTLEMAN YIKESBRADLEY, THANK YOOOU MY GUUYYYYYYYYY
