I would also like to mention *Abhorrent Beast* who is actually an optional mini-boss but he stands toe-to-toe with any boss or "Great One" in Bloodborne (base game or DLC) in terms of pure combat.
You encounter him in the Forbidden Woods. However, if you really wanna test yourself, then I suggest you fight him in Lower Loran (Chalice Dungeon).
He's truly S-tier and might be the most well-rounded and toughest boss in the entire game.
Mikolash is like the Joffrey Barantheon of soulsbourne. He’s irritating, pathetic, sadistic, and the feeling you get when he falls choking on his own blood is incredible.

I find him much more interesting than that. He's like a mad scientist (well scholar but similar archetype). He also doesn't realize hes even dead. He's just endlessly and feverishly seeking answers. Once you know how to do his gimmick I think hes actually kinda fun.

People signing the witches a lot but I think we need those easy bosses in the game to occasionally give you a moral boost. The witches, the deacons, and the four monkeys all give you a chance to feel better and more confident.
I completely agree - Easy bosses need to exist to provide that balance, and that sense of scale. It's hard to figure out what's hard when there's nothing easy to compare them to.
underrated comment, i literally was on the verge of calling it quits with bloodborne cause all that happened was i got my ass kicked constantly (yes even cleric beast) and then i had this easy time with witches and started to get the hang of it a little more after to then second try shadows
fast forward to me first trying maria and me loving this game so much and i think the witches played a minor part here
I don't mind how easy the Witches are, I just really dislike them mechanically and design-wise. I already am not a huge fan of gank fights but Witches is particularly lazy. And it just feels so shoe-horned in, like they had another boss planned for that arena but ran out of time and just had to throw something together.
About the only cool thing about them is how the boss is affected by insight being set to 0, since it's the only boss I'm aware of that really does that. Other than that they're just extremely disappointing with one of the coolest boss arenas in the game.
fun fact: sometimes after defeating living failures, one failure still stays due to some glitch. you can actually take this failure into the maria boss fight for a really cool double battle- the failure will even use the moon attack during the fight which can’t hurt the player but makes maria’s boss room have a dark sky effect.

It’s not wrong to “cheese” an absolute garbage fight where a weak mini boss spams “A Call Beyond” which even at a high level with the best arcane defensive armor in the game can one shot you.

Ah, sweet child of Kos. I love that boss, terrifying when I met him, not even Malenia felt the same. Best boss in my opinion alongside Logarius and Maria
I think Malenia intimidates me more, but the Orphan just has this raw energy from being so unknowable. Lovecraft horror hits different

Small story - I sucked at them my first time through the DLC. I was using a threaded cane, and I couldn't do enough damage. They actually made me rage quit lmao.

Idk why but I always had a tough time beating Lawerence. I of course struggled with the likes of Orphan and Ludwig but was always able to get their move sets down and get the better of them. However with Lawerence Every time i beat him it was basically me just fighting to my life praying I could get lucky lol
i love how different opinions on who is the hardest bloodborne boss. some people say ludwig, others say lawrence, and everyone else says orphan but billy just says gascoigne just for being an early game difficulty spike. oh yeah and a video idea: soulsborne DLC final bosses ranked worst to best (and we all know that the top 2 are from Ds3)
What I love about Orphan is that he’s challenging, but strikes the balance between difficulty and fairness almost perfectly. Sure, he’s highly aggressive, but that just re-emphasizes what Bloodborne has been teaching you since Father Gascoigne. Match the aggression and keep on the push forward, as he operates in many ways like a hunter. He’s fast and chaotic, but has very clear telegraphs and punish windows. He has high-damage combos and AOEs, but they’re well thought out, and the large arena gives you plenty of space to deal with them. He’s got a large a large health pool, but he’s able to be consistently and easily back-stabbed / parried to safely shave it down. Not to mention, he’s just the most ‘bloodborney’ boss in Bloodborne. I mean, a cosmic infant Great One crawling out of the womb of its dead God mother, looking like a death-metal hellspawn wielding her placenta like an extendable scythe, on the forebodingly dark yet beautiful coastline of a nightmare realm fishing village that was destroyed and brutally experimented on by hunters just like you, with nothing but a dark sea of shipwrecks and raining skies overhead. Just simply incredible, favorite fight in video game history for me.

i enjoy watching these bloodborne difficulty ranking video's and comparing them to my experiences, mostly because i feel my experience of difficulty was wierd, like against the one reborn it takes me multiple attempts to defeat it yet against father gascoigne i consistently beat him first try, even on my first run
Gehrman is such a good boss. I went the whole game in my first play through without learning to parry with my pistol. I get to Gehrman and learned how to just to beat him that way. The next time I fought him I beat him first try. This boss really rewards getting good at parrying.
Maria is honestly my favourite Bloodborne boss and character. Her and Gehrman are the only bosses i refuse to parry. I love how her story is rold during the fight

I started bloodbornes DLC on NG+, and when I got to the living failures with my barely upgraded moonlight Greatsword, I barely scratched their health bar and they did half of mine, so im traumatized from those guys and now consider them an underrated boss in terms of difficulty
Laurence is something special. I beat him first try on NG without much problems, but on NG+ he is stupidly hard.
i did a bl4 playthrough without any papers or pellets and it was some of the most difficult stuff i’ve ever done, including cursed gem farming. lady maria and orphan took me days to beat, and living failures was extremely difficult and time consuming.

Martyr smashed me on my one attempt at lvl 4 playthrough... didn't expect it.
i beat father gascoigne on my first try in my first playthrough of bloodborne. my ass was hella prepared for the ferocity this boss has. i dropped the game after beating blood-starved beast, because i didn't know where to go after killing him.
I will never get why gascoigne and orphan of kos are considered hard, only rayed orphan 10 because I died like 14 times to ludwig and expected insane difficulty, but I first tried him, only ludwig, logarius, and rom are above a 7.8
I have found a somewhat consistant way to dodge Ebriata's charge attack. Remove lock on and roll twice to her side right as she is about to hit you

Currently im doing my first playthrough. I defeated Gascoigne on my first ever playthrough first try and somehow it brought me more satisfaction then fights in other souls games that i had to deal with. This 6 minut banger of a fight felt so much more real then in different games, feels like you're fighting the opponent that you outclassing in his profession, you're a prodigy and he's an rusty old wolf that once was great hunter but now he just can't keep up with protagonist. And the qoute up there☝️? Man...I regret that Bloodborne wasn't my first or at least second souls game because then when i would hear this qoute i would shit myself and loose quadrillion times but now when I gone through Ds3, sekiro, half of elden ring and a bit of ds1 (not that impressive but still some experience) when I heard this quote from the old man, in my head i was like "let the blood flow, then!" And i just started maniacally laughing and entered some kind of focussed, cold ... professional...one could say, bloodlust. Well, then i killed him and what's the best part is that this fight was so fair and square, without bullshit attacks that you must die few times to learn them, that I can't even be mad. I'm just impressed that first try fight designed for new players to learn importance of parry, can be so satisfactory. Congrats Fromsoft. Because turning on this ps4 that i didn't use for like 6 years was made by you, one of the best decision I ever made in my gaming history.
Ah yeah and f*&k Laurence man. He gave me ptsd with those cone of hitboxes at his every sweep. And in third phase he becomes basically becomes dmg sponge. This fight broke me and I've decided to use the summon for this fight. The soundtrack in this fight tho? Well i couldn't experience it during the actual fight due to Laurence's constant yapping xD But when i killed him and was able to hear the tune, I was like:"Well that sounds neat. So I've looked it up on yt and man this track literally made me cry and now i feel obligated to fight him in the next playthrough and live through this the torment... Good ol' 1v1 hatefuck with a unfair boss is a classy feeling indeed 💀
It took me about 4-5x longer to beat the living failures than orphan of Kos, Laurence, + Maria all combined. Even after knowing where the safe zone was within a fight or two. I am ashamed, but also so proud of how good I did the hard fights.
I completely agree with your point that Ludwig is much easier in phase 2. It feels like such a weight off my shoulders when I get there because hes much more predictable. In challenge runs for me personally it feels like a race to get there before I die. As for Laurence and Orphan I always go back and forth. On one hand Laurence, especially in NG+ cycles has a lot of one hot moves or combos he can grt you into and his fire after effects always seem to clip dodges. The crawling charge in the final phase, if you miss 1 dodge that initial counter damage plus the stun just spells instant death. Orphan despite being parryable I dont feel like it even makes it that much either. Ive played enough that I feel like ai can stand in front of Maria parry every attack never dodge, and kill her eith ease. The different timing of his attacks mixed with the fact he can swap between moves mid combo it feels like he always has something to catch you off guard and no matter how many times I play this game it doesnt feel like hes gotten much easier than the first time I fought him.

I recently replayed the game yesterday with dlc and I have to say that the hardest fight is orphan of kos, second place is Ludwig, third place is Maria. The rest of the bosses I beat in 1-3 tries. Bloodtinge build using chikage
When i got to the celestial emissary boss fight for the first time i died because of the enemy spam but managed to beat it second try, yet when i fought ebrietas her difficulty seemed more fair as it was just a 1v1 and i beat her on my first attempt
I'm surprised there was no mention of pungent blood cocktails that can attract her attention. I learned years after getting her fight down, but goddamn does it make her absolutely trivial.

Gotta say that I love the Moon Presence, even if I wish it was harder. The idea that it's scared it can't control you cause you munched on some umbilical cords is really cool to me. The unrelenting OST sounds like it's more for the hunter, who's hunting their ultimate prey, rather than for the cosmic god that got trapped in its own cage.
Gehrman is my favorite boss alongside Lady Maria because of the atmosphere. Gehrman is trying to free you from the nightmare but you also want him to find peace and be free. However, that’s not the case. One of you has to die, I literally said “I’m sorry.” to Gehrman when I beat him. He didn’t deserve to suffer for so long

If Malenia without cheese is a 10, no other boss by FromSoft ever, even in Sekiro, is even a 6.
Witches of Hemwick:
Not actually the easiest, but can be with 0 insight obviously. Funny story, the trap spell once hit me and while my eyes were wiped out, the second witch spamed the magic AOE and this team up killed me.

Well there is...
When I first played Bloodborne, I was super overwhelmed by many starter bosses, bsb included. He was really difficult to me to a point where I just ran through the arena and cried for help, prayed for some hits to get in.
My praying was heard though. I spotted an item in the back of the arena, some antitdotes. I was not super happy about this but thought these goodies will come in handy.
And then, the tragedy happened. When I turned around, I realized bsb is right behind me, already charging the attack. There was no time for me to dodge due to camera issues... and then bsb jumped.........
A loud noise, a loud scream and then, silence. I turned around in shock, Bsb was... gone. Several seconds later, the death screen appeared... I was blessed by the Great ones that day.
Turns out bsb is so buggy with his moves, he can actually use some Skyrim like glitches to go through walls... then he just died. Although I had a pain of a time, I was sad. Bsb will be remembered.

For Rom, I have never understood why everyone don't kill the spiders first. Rom is fair, but absolutely annoying. Don't lock on to her and kill the baby spiders first and you will be fine.
Souls games are so interesting because different bosses are harder for different people. I was so scared of logarius (only fought him on ng+) and beat him in one try. But I ALWAYS struggle with Amelia for some reason. My top 3 fights are (in no particular order) Lawrence, gehrman, orphan

Best way to kill Rom: Either a big hammer or the bow so you can get as far away as possible from her kids
Edit: And to be fair, Laurence is the one boss people underestimate on first impressions. Cus on one hand he appears to be a "generic Cleric Beast Copy/pasted but he's set on fire". Its when you actually fight him is when you realize that fire .... makes things harder. Cus now you gotta worry about getting burnt even from brushing up against him.

Living failures is the easiest boss fight, UNTIL you want to get the Millions of Echo’s Farm glitch on them.. then it becomes a brutal challenge.
Throughout my entire first playthrough of bloodborne i always played with lock on, Orphan of Kos made me realize that sometimes playing without look on is better for very aggressive enemies, phase 2 without look on is so much easier, not to mention that you get rid of the orphan´s worst attack: The god damm camera.
If i remember correctly, there was a second Phase plant for the moonpresence. I dont now if it still exists, but there is a chalice dungeon code who you can fight it. And holy s..., that was a tough one. Downside is, i was Stuck in that dungeon and couldnt leave it. So if this still works, remember to put a safe, i didnt😅
Looking forward to watching this. When it comes to hardest bosses, I've always had an interesting experience with Bloodborne. Lawrence gave me so much trouble before until it clicked on day. Still not easy for me, but I understand the fight so much better than before.
When it comes to main game, I would probably give it to Martyr Logarius.
Number one would probably have to goo to Orhpan of Kos. The first time I played Bloodborne, I took him out on the second attempt. In my most recent playthrough, the son of a bitch took me two hours. Probably because of how aggressive he is and how much I kept trying to get distance. He's great at punishing.
Oh, and the camera is the biggest FromSoftware boss. I recently replayed the Cleric Beast. The camera was wildin' out.

In my opinion what makes laurence the most difficult boss for me is the fact he was a dark souls boss in bloodborne. You have to unlearn alot of what bloodborne taught you and relearn classic dark souls to fight him. It's the same thing with how the demon is hatred is a bloodborne boss fight in sekiro. It's a boss that goes against the grain. Meanwhile I beat Orphan on my first attempt. Spent all of my healing items to do so but I did beat him on my first ever try. Laurence was already the hardest boss for me and for me personally it is because he goes against alot of the philosophy of bloodborne.
I agree with the first voter comment on Laurence, I tried to fight him for the first time in NG+ (don't remember my level off the top of my head) with a mostly full healthbar and he one-shot me immediately
The best way I can compare Ludwig's difficulty for me is that phase 1 is objectively harder than 2 but easier to master and phase 2 is objectively easier but harder to master because you will need to be good at phase 1 one to consistently reach it.
On NG+7 Lawrence is a complete nightmare. It feels like it's fight him flawlessly or die the first time you miss a dodge. His damage scales way too high and his hitboxes are questionable at times.
Like Billy S, I never really got Orphan's reputation. I played the DLC for the first time in NG+1 and died to Ludwig around 40 times, Living Failures 4 (lol...), Maria 9 and Orphan a dozen. Laurence took me like 100: he's so unfair, completely goes against BB mechanics and his runback is the worst in the game, alone it drives you insane. All of this made Laurence the hardest boss in my FS experience and by far my least favorite of them all. Also, Micolash is a fine gimmick boss. Never died to him and always a treat when I get to his fight in my playthrough!
I won't be able to play Bloodborne in the next 4 years, I can watch it
I aways found the orphan quite easy. I generally exploit backstabbing, and run to the middle of the water to escape the lightning. Can't stand the blood starved beast tough, aways have a bad time trying to kill it
I will say as someone who beat father Gascoigne with no help, you can pretty much skip the beast part with a few Molotov cocktails
My second emissary fight a scerge beat glitch into the arena and killed my loosing 40,000 echos and I was gonna cry

I got stuck on Living Failures for DAYS, before finally finishing the fight and proceeding to first time Lady Maria with the 3 blood vials I had remaining.
I struggled hard with Cleric Beast in my first playthrough but took out Gascoigne with no issues.
Rom was one of the hardest fights for me but Paarle, who I fought as early as possible, was a first try victory.
Weird how subjective "difficulty" is.
See and Paarl often beats my ass into the ground. Its so different for everyone.
@@etinarcadiaego7424 If you defeat Henryk with Eileen and get his set from the Hunter's Dream, you get a huge boost to bolt resistance that makes Paarle a much fairer fight. Not easy by any means but Henryk's set seems tailor made to even the playing field for early Paarle.
That's how I got through it the first time, anyway! I know people say armor doesn't matter in BB but I'll swear by certain sets for certain bosses, with Paarle being a great example!

Cleric beast was easy because the PS4 is so under-powered that the fight was in slow motion.
I don't know if this hot take but the hardest enemy in the game isn't even a boss , its that hunter with the chikage at the end of Eileen quest , not even kos and Lawrence were that hard compare to him

I really agree Cleric Beast is a good early game boss, while Vicar and Nurse are firmly in the middle (certainly good bosses tho). But I just Cannot agree on Maria being higher than master Gehrman, she is cool but Not hard (imo)! Logarius is Great tho, really crazy and fast (God, how I love scythes)!!

We are Bloodborne players. We have a bloody good time when getting tortured by brutal difficulty. Our dream is your nightmare. Our easy is your impossible.
I didn't find any of BB's bosses super hard; none took more than 5 attempts. But the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst... that guy was a real jerk. Way harder than the bosses unless you cheese him.
Lawrence is easily hardest for me. Ive only done DLC once, but orphan probably took about 10 tries, ludwig probably about 20, and lawrence had to be more like 30
Im trying to beat Laurence on NG++ and im struggling so much because the scaling is terrible and i do such little damage. Funnily enough I beat orphan first try on this run, because i could parry him. Laurence is just so tedious.
One interesting thing about these lower ranked Bloodborne bosses is that they become very difficult at BL4 - sounds obvious I know, but far more than other bosses at base level in other FROM games.
Witches of Hemwick, Celestial Emissary, One Reborn, Mergo's Wet Nurse - they were really painful. Mechanically, I'm not sure why but my best guess is the rally mechanic becomes useless at BL4.
Also, numbers 1 and 2 should be reversed in my opinion.
no way to cheese bsb? you can just use pungent blood cocktails to lure it to a corner to hit it hard, with a serrated weapon, fire paper and beast blood pellet you can make short work by just throwing blood cocktails to keep it distracted from you.

Hot take : living failures is a harder boss than maria. In all of my playthroughs, i have never died to maria. I have fallen a few times to the failures though. It sucks for me because maria IS COOL AF. And i understand why everyone likes her. I just wish she was more of a challenge for me..

I honestly don't understand why people think ludwig is hard. I know difficulty is subjective but I just don't get it. I'm like 10-0 against. I know for certain I've never lost to him
Micolash took me two tries in a total of 20 minutes. I cornered him once with the entire second half being hitting him once in a chase, teleporting and repeating it. Truly the worst boss in soulsborne. Still better than most LOTF bosses tho

I died countless times on Ludwig, Gherman, Maria and even the living failures but in lawrence i just passed thruogh

Don’t understand Rom at 10. Beat her my first try. Get 2-3 hits in then move. Be patient with the little one and wait for an opening. I never killed any of the small spiders.
Orphan made me lose any will to ever touch bloodborne again. Beat him, felt empty, turned off ps4 did not turn on ever since.
And then there me a person who played only wo long and made 5 NG+ on lies of P and having a friend with Bloodborne I played the game like three times during his NG+4 and the only thing I did was defeat three bosses: Ludwig who got defeated in 20 tries, Lady Maria who destroyed me 'cause It took more than 30 tries and in the end I defeated the orfan of Kos in literally 2 tries 😂😂😂
