This is true. But you have to take off the seat and unplug it for the 2nd map. You can hook it up to a button if you want. Most people say map 2 is horrible anyways and to just stick with map 1
Should you buy it? Not only NO, but hell NO. KTM’s decision to ONLY offer fuel injection on the new 250/300 XC and XCW’s was beyond stupid. KTM’s decision to drop the kick starter was beyond stupid. These bikes are still sold as a Closed Course bike in the US, so the TPI decision is OBVIOUSLY not about the emissions. Do you like getting stranded in the middle of nowhere? Imagine having a Rekluse clutch (meaning you cannot bump start), and being stuck 20 miles from the truck because your battery dies. Or maybe the fuel injection has decided to stop working (as has been WIDELY reported on the ’18 and ’19 bikes). I have 3 KTM’s, all with carbs and a kickstarter. All 3 have been awesome and reliable, but they are the LAST KTM’s I’ll buy, assuming KTM doesn’t come to their senses. And the only way KTM is going to do that is if people outright reject KTM’s poor decisions.
KTM did not make it mandatory. Governments did and the U.S. got to hold on to carbs a lot longer than any of the euros did. Hats of to KTM for even investing in modern technology two strokes at all.
@MGTOW CAT FOOD SALESMAN you absolutely can, but it is still not modern by KTM engine design standards. It's roughly the same engine from around 2000. While it is the best of Japanese 2ts IMO, it is not nearly as refined as the KTM engine. And just hang on it's days are numbered. The fact that Yamaha has not even hinted at adopting an injected 2t looks pretty damning that when that bike can no longer make the emissions they will just drop it. If you want 2 strokes to continue into the future they have to change and KTM is doing a great job with it.
babur.karaoglu I had that same debate and it depends what you ride. I ride the same stuff Kyle rides here in Utah and I got an 18 300xcw which is amazing for singletrack mountain riding but in the open desert suspension holds it back. I sent the suspension off to Kreft last week to make it closer to a XC hopefully that will give me the best of both worlds.
Also, the XCw suspension was actually better than I expected in the desert I thought it would be a marshmallow and it wasn’t. I could still hit whoops and other high speed obstacles fairly well, but I had to be more careful than an XC or my Honda which has ProAction modified suspension for desert/MX. If you are a fast rider (you race) you might want the XC. If you are more of a trail rider that isn’t as fast and aggressive you’ll like the w suspension in stock form. The w is amazing in rocks and roots.
Hey Kyle good video I have a quick question though would you be able to get a gas gas to test and compare? I’ve been on one the last year and it’s a great bike now the motor is not as good as ktm or probably the new beta. The handling makes up for it though , as a guy who rides ktm etc and knows the in and outs I’d just love to hear your opinion. Thanks god bless
All of the bikes are crazy expensive...good thing the Yamaha YZ250X is still under 8k MSRP and has a carb and kickstart! And Beta is less than KTM and comes with a carb and lower seat height! I'm thinking that KTM is going to lose big chunk of sales to Yamaha and Beta in 2020.
I ride both, 300 is actually more mellow and super wide powerband with more torque. It’s better for technical riding. The 250 revs quicker and hits a bit harder and is really fun in more open riding.
Lol. You say everyone wants to nitpick & split hairs. Just after talking about a one tooth difference in the rear sprocket & other things. Lol Plus that really didn't tell us if we should buy it? Sounds like you should just buy something used. With bike prices being stupid high.
Not really selling the bikes there.... Out of the box slow, no real advance over the model it replaces and air fork on an Enduro bike is completely crazy. Never mind not having a kick start, at least you can run start the engine. What happens when, not if, the air fork collapses? Or maybe the fuel injection has decided to stop working (as has been WIDELY reported on the ’18 and ’19 bikes). I have 3 KTM’s, all with carbs and a kickstarter. All 3 have been awesome and reliable, but they are the LAST KTM’s I’ll buy, assuming KTM doesn’t come to their senses. And the only way KTM is going to do that is if people outright reject KTM’s poor decisions.
Not interested. KTM really pissed me off with mandatory TPI and no kickstarter
@@gncc444 ... The US government didn't mandate anything , the EU did. The US Government didn't take away the kick start either.
Eric Be you and me
Both. I’m in the market for a 2012-2016 300xcw
Got rid of the kick start and made the gas tank smaller? KTM just keeps doing what the customer wants.....
Kyle, Where are you riding in this video? Looks gorgeous.
Where are the dynamometer numbers? "It feels good" Wow, really? Can you lend me your feelings meter to test my bike with?
It says first impressions in the title.... not specs you brain dead fuck
So it's not full power out of the box? What a shame. Who would buy ktm and not expect lot of power from it?
Nice yellowish gas tank. 👍🏻
Husky 2 strokes are sexy :o I know they are just rebranded KTMS but I think they look nicer?
Aaron RMZ250 they have minor differences from what I’ve seen
Them some ugly gloves. Will that aux screw work the same on my 18 carb 300? Already running the red spring.
xc or xc-w...
babur.karaoglu I had that same debate and it depends what you ride. I ride the same stuff Kyle rides here in Utah and I got an 18 300xcw which is amazing for singletrack mountain riding but in the open desert suspension holds it back. I sent the suspension off to Kreft last week to make it closer to a XC hopefully that will give me the best of both worlds.
thanks for the input...
All orange motorbikes are good.
Test the new lectron h series on your 2019 ktm before you give it away
snowmoto the 2019 is a tpi
HumptyDumpty the 2019 250xc has a carb the xc went tpi in 2020
I see they pre dent the pipe since it will on the first ride like mine 😆
All of the bikes are crazy expensive...good thing the Yamaha YZ250X is still under 8k MSRP and has a carb and kickstart! And Beta is less than KTM and comes with a carb and lower seat height! I'm thinking that KTM is going to lose big chunk of sales to Yamaha and Beta in 2020.
adding comment for support.
Me too
When is the YZ450FX test coming???
What’s the basic difference from the 250 to 300😂
It's one louder.
50cc
Bottom end torque, that’s all...
I ride both, 300 is actually more mellow and super wide powerband with more torque. It’s better for technical riding. The 250 revs quicker and hits a bit harder and is really fun in more open riding.
Review the yz125x
Man I love your videos, Thanks so much for doing this. But I would like to see your wife in a few more, she's a hoot.
No kickstart is a bad move
xe đẹp quá
Damnit I wish they’d just make a street legal version
They do, it's called a Beta ;)
@@xlr8offroad yea but even those betas cant be street legal in alot of places even tho they say it is
How fussy are you?? Jeepers.
Dirt Bike Channel Sponsored by KTM....
Lol. You say everyone wants to nitpick & split hairs. Just after talking about a one tooth difference in the rear sprocket & other things. Lol
Plus that really didn't tell us if we should buy it?
Sounds like you should just buy something used. With bike prices being stupid high.

Cool story bro
Not really selling the bikes there.... Out of the box slow, no real advance over the model it replaces and air fork on an Enduro bike is completely crazy.
Never mind not having a kick start, at least you can run start the engine.
What happens when, not if, the air fork collapses?
All this for $1500 more than Factory model Sherco or fully loaded Beta in Australia.
Lots of gullible orange people out there. 👍
"so much email"
That hurt to hear, among the other phrases that didn't make any sense. 😂
First
You just f'd that bike up by adjusting power valve.
You have to adjust it plugged into XC2 while maintaining 4k rpm.
This guy needs to change his channel name to #ktmfanman 😂
Dislike because who wants a 2 stroke with no kickstart and fuel injection, im sorry but thats gross i rather a carb bike and kicker
