This guys totally wrong about the KTM SIX DAYS; all the extra parts on the bike add up to well over a thousand dollars when bought individually. The forged triple clamps are a big improvement, the solid rear brake rotor is much better in muddy conditions and is less likely to warp in extreme conditions, Super Sprox sprockets are much stronger than stock, better wheels and tires, Selle Dalla Valle Italian made seat is incredibly nice, composite skid plate, the bike looks sick, the list goes on and on. Solid brake rotors are for muddy conditions so the pads will last longer and provide very slight braking advantage. Vented rotors are for higher speed and dry conditions.
I have a six days model and by far the best thing about it is the preload adjustment on the fork. I go 0 for Tahoe rocky switchbacks and +3 for when I hit the whooped out desert. I don't have to mess with any of my clickers this way.
Radiator guards, machined triple clamps, clickers, 2 pc. sprocket, and skid plate are certainly valuable. Which is why the husky offers almost all of it for only 1 Benjamin more.

I like your common sense approach Kyle. The 6 Days versions that they offer in the US are mostly cosmetic as you point out. In Europe they offer upspec models with factory mods that really help. Your point about money for gas and tires is also absolutely correct. Appropriate tires with Tubliss or mousse will do more to improve your riding performance than any other bike mod. It is easier for some guys to spend the money on bling than spend the time practicing the more difficult skills.
You didn't take into account, it is $1000 more, but you get about $300 to $500 of that back (depending on condition) when you sell it, which i personally do every 2 years

I think you missed that a 6 Days is just an orange Husqvarna with PDS. Oddly enough a Husqvarna is about $1,000 more. This video is basically saying don't buy a Husqvarna.
Good luck getting one in the US. You can likely get one, but no dealer support and parts maybe a bit dodgy. They are slick looking. There used to be a dealer where I lived, but they mostly sold boats and never really had any bikes on the floor. They eventually closed (way before TM went aluminum). Didn't see many around at all.

Well, in every other motor vehicle scenario people buy the special editions so why the hell not with these enduro bikes. You do not get any performance improvements with those either.. I have both Six Days versions of the 2018 model.. The 450 and the 300.. Yes its a bling thing, it's the "wow, that's a great looking bike" and the rarity of it.. I bought the 450 in 2017 and I absolutely wanted the twin 300 and bought it in 2018. If you were gonna take those upgraded parts and buy them, it would be more than 1000 bucks.. Do you get a performance increase? No but in my opinion, it's a better stronger bike with triple clamps, brakes and preloaders.. Plus the resale value it higher.. Also, I can guarantee you that in my neck of the woods, I wont see another one.. (Small town) I do see lots of regular 300s and 500s but no 2018 six days.. It's like a special edition guitar my friend, it wont play betteror make you a better player, but the rarity and the look increase the value.
I bought the '20 6 Days 500 mostly because of the way it looks. I've also paid more for premium paint when I've bought vehicles. It's all about preference and finances. I like the "bling" that the 6 Days has and to me it was worth the extra I paid, though it wasn't $1000, I still paid more than if I had bought the regular 500. It makes me smile every time I look at it, even just sitting in my garage. For me, that makes it worth EVERY penny.
I agree completely. If you can afford it who cares about $1000 when it’s what you want. I’m going for a 21 or 22 if still road legal. In Australia rules just changed so I’m thinking only 2021 bikes will pass
I work at a KTM dealership as a mechanic and I 100% agree with you, all the 6days is for is the stroking factor, giving yourself the warm and fuzzies, is much rather just go out and buy the husky then screw around trying to get a 6days. However, I do have a query about what map you run, which one do you have currently installed? Because it sounds like “map 2” isn’t what should be in there
I honestly LOVE my map switch on my gas gas. In shitty conditions it runs just as good, it's just smoother and less snappy. It allows me to keep traction and control in loose shit like sandy hills or mud. It was also amazing when i was warming up to some jumps because it keeps the power tame while im getting used ot it.
The 6 days version is totally worth every penny! All the plastics are carbon fiber and every nut and bolt are titanium. Under that fancy seat cover is memory foam. Then in the engine department you get factory porting that the factory team runs followed by a cone pipe. Bib mousse inserts round out the package 📦
I think the Six Days comes with the carbon pipe guard also. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I think the only added value is the skid plate and pipe guard, though the pipe guard will only do so much.
@Phil Mccrevasse The main bike that he has in the video only has 1 of the 2 bolts in the lower triple clamp. I am sure there is a reason for this, Idk what the reason is... But he was probably working on something.
2 piece steel sprockets are well worth the money, they barely wear, and because they don’t wear your chain doesn’t wear and stretch as fast. I’ve done 3 chains on the same steel sprocket
With the billet clamps you get a little better clamping in my opinion. the front wheel won't misalign as much with the billet clamps for crashes and dumps. With the brake rotor its a little better for muddy conditions and will sink heat a bit better. If you went after market including the clamps I'm sure you come in a few hundos less. I run the twin ring stuff and it does wear a little better, but I run the stock chain out and replace with what I want later. I've added the axle pull and the only thing I liked about it was that I could hang it on the bark buster or the peg when swapping tires and it keeps the axle out of the dirt (something six days riders do daily when racing). 15 minutes to maintain your bike daily is all you get. That said I don't have one on my bike currently. IF you really want the billet clamps they cross many years so picking them used or take offs isn't that hard. You will come out ahead. Not enough to make me want to buy it unless it was the only option left for the model year I wanted and they cut me a smokin deal on it. I not fast enough for the six days! I know a few that have competed and all are very fast and skilled.
Totally Kyle, I regret buying my 6days, I would rather had used the extra money for my own mods. I replaced most of the upgrades right away! the rad guards really weren't anything that I could trust in my type of riding. the skid plate was also replaced immediately. I basically just spent the extra 1400..(Here in Canada) for the looks. I'm not sure if it will increase the resale value yet. I have no intentions of selling but after time I have enjoyed having the best looking ride, in my mind.. lol Sardinia edition.
The six days is for someone that wants the best and can afford the best. For me personally just for the adonized clamps and the orange frame alone was worth the extra money. It doesn't make it faster but it sure makes it alot nicer. Even my license plate says 6 days
You forgot about carbon fiber pipe cover, wich I think is a must like the skid plate and it's costly. Also the six days comes with better tires. Me and my friend bought these bikes in 2017, my friend bought the regular one... my rear sprocket and the whole transmission last more than 100 extra hours for me compared to the regular one. Husqvarna's are the high-end bikes of KTM in case you didn't know. Anyways, six days are still overpriced but I think the most important thing is that they are more ready or "ready to race" out of the shop than the regular one.
Vented rotor vs solid rotor. Solid is for wet muddy conditions. Mud can't get stuck in the vents causing the brake pads to not grab as well. Vented is to aid cooling in dry conditions.
Very very well done ! It's so good to have someone that is honest and gives the facts when it comes to bikes ! I have been using you and your videos as a guideline to modify my current bike ( a 17' 300xc). Electron carb, v- force Reed cage, tubliss tire system and am even running the shinko cheaters.Every single one of these mods have significantly improved this bike ! Thank you Kyle,I LL keep watching !
I know this video is kind of old at this point but if you have the option (and like the 6 days color way for that model year) there is 0 reason not to get the 6 days. Just as an example if you wanted to buy the base model and add on all the stuff you get with the 6 days (Minus the specific stuff like graphics and such) it would cost you more than the 6 days up charge. Its not really meant to be a better performing bike. Its just tricked out with some powerparts bling and a special colorway. If you dont like the look than so be it but I still think the triple clamps, the map switch (now with TC and quickshifter function), and the wheels/hubs alone make it worth it.
Mabe if you were racing you would like the extras that come with the bike. Solid rear disc is a most if you ride mud to save the breaks. Change tire or Wheel Quick can also be a major thing between a top spot or dead last. Love the Chanel but you need to learn Why the 1000 bucks are there. They dont cost more without a reason.
Greater clamping force whit Six Days clamps more area, and i think the map switch is good turn on map 2 when you hit a motocross track or fire roads, same whit preload on the fork good when you hit a stage on the motocross track and sand rollers just turn them harder. And on the 4-stroke it comes whit a electric fan and that's a must in hard enduro. I buy Husky´s there the good stuff whit out the bling for only 500 more than a standard KTM. the standard KTM is for trail riding whit friends not so much racing. Good stuff on you channel and like the Beta videos.
Here’s another thought… down the road when you want to sell your bike the six days stands out and you will get more for it. While aftermarket parts do not add much value the name and the bling that comes with it do.
@south i have owned 950 sm ktm ( constant oil leakage problems, front shock problems), ktm 640 lc4 supermoto ( oil and power problems), ktm 350 exc ( front shock problems), i was ktm fan like a motherfucker, but then my father in law convinved me to go yamaha... well and after i drove it, and have owned for couple of years.. damn.. it is a magical bike. easy maintenance, i do maintennace on my bikes myself, so i can confitm that even yhe maintennace is so much easier on yamahas than ktms. the ktms always have these weird solutions for problems they couldnt figure out, so they add more screws or more oil reservoirs :) . trust me, own a yamah, problem free. drop it, pick it up and start no problem ( usually it doesnt even stall when horizontal). Drop a ktm, it stalls, and then you cant start it, which is annoying.
@south ktms aint even good... Ktm frame can split in half so easy it is dangerous.. They aint fun bikes coz u are maintaining it more than riding it. Not reliable, badly build and is so overrated
Bought my 18 300xcw six days last october. Salt Lake area dealers wouldnt budge on any 300 xcw prices and most dealers had ridiculous "prep" fees which I refuse to pay. Got mine new from a dealer in Salem Ore for $9k OTD plus $300 to ship. so I paid less than the $9600 plus prep that local dealers wanted for base 300xcw.
it's like you've never even raced an enduro. billet triple clamps are stronger and lighter the other map doesn't make the bike run like shit, it reduces power for more traction in slippery conditions so you have more control and can ride faster. solid rotors don't clag up with mud nothing to do with strength. steel sprocket lasts longer aluminium is lighter it's the best of both worlds. axle puller is important when you have 5 minutes to change a tyre. yes i realize none of this applies to you. the reason you didn't buy one is because you aren't going to race it that's all.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I only got a 2015 exc 6 days because I got it for $450 more than regular and because I really liked the theme that year. Argentina. I figured I would've spent some money on the engine guard. Plus the brake disc guard was nice to have as well. Certainly not worth more than $500 more.
Were I live the six days cost about €1200 more, I bought the normal exc and with the money I saved I bought it a skid plate with pipe guard, radiator guards, front & rear straps front & rear disc guards, digital radiator fan, after market seat cover, after market bendable levers, an awesome Red Bull graphics kit & I still have saved money plus it looks much nicer to 😁
6 days is worth it if you add up the stuff that comes on it. Literally the only thing I had to put on my 6 days was a jd jet kit, rear disc guard and a spark arrestor tail cap. It comes mostly ready to go, and those billet triple clamps are worth every penny if you might take the bike to play around on a track or jump it.
The rotors are not "vented" as are the front rotors of a car or truck, they're solid and slotted which does the same thing as a drilled rotor. It's purpose is to keep the braking surface clean by continuously scraping the pad surface and also an escape route for debris that may get between the pad and rotor surfaces. Solid rear rotors on an off-road moto (somewhat trendy on "Enduro" machines) is to theoretically prevent mud from accumulating in the slots, or holes, which doesn't make sense because mud is lighter weight than steel. Figure that one out peeps.
Good Video as per usual Kyle, my only question would be: As they are limited edition bikes that are only produced for that model year wherever the 6 days event was, would that mean that the depreciation on the bike as a % is better than that of a standard bike? Does that, therefore, make them more desirable and more expensive?
Unless you've driven a regular explorer you wouldn't tell the differences, we've got a mountaineer which is supposed to be the step up from a bauer and itll outpace alot of rigs goin on 12 years old with a stock motor and trans
I feel like the different maps might be related to different elevations. That would explain why the second map ran like shit for you. Might be a map for riding in high altitudes.
You mentioned that the Husqvarna comes with many 6 days options and checking the MSRP the FE501 is $100 more than the EXC 500. Would you say that the Husqvarna is a better buy than the KTM? It comes down to rider preference from what I can tell but is the KTM with PDS the better option over the Husqvarna linkage setup?
I’m late to this video, but those tusk impact rims are worse then stock. The best wheel setup is Kite hubs, dubya spoke and nipples, and excel A 60 rims. I race motocross at the highest amerature level. 👍
Just buy Sherco and you’ll be alg, I’ve got rebound clicker stock, mapping switch stock that has a huge difference whether ur riding tight stuff or fast stuff, I’ve also got a chain guard, a skid plate and a non bolted seat which makes it so much easier to take it off.
I know back on the older Six Days models (maybe 2014-2016 models), they had a different front fork then the standard XC-W models. The Six Days had its own version of the 4CS front fork, while the standard XC-W had the WP Open Chamber forks. I don't have any experience with the Six Days version, but I know on the SX and XC bikes alot of guys didnt care for the 4CS, so that may have been a detracting feature.
Those triple clamps are forged, not cast. Forged are really strong, just not cool looking. You can identify a forging versus casting by the parting line. Forged part has a thick (.1 inch) parting line, cast has a thin, sharp line.
I had the machined ones on my 2009 530 and the fugly stock ones on the 2016, the machined ones were more precise. Loosen the pinch bolts and the forks would slide right out. Loosen the '16 clamps and still have to twist and pull the forks to remove.
The preload adjusters are great if you don't perfectly match the stock setup. It's a thing you do once, but you probably don't repeatedly use it. Nice to have to dial it in initially. Alone, probably not worth the upgrade, but could be a factor if other components are valuable.
Just bought a Beta 300 Steve Holcomb edition. Paid quite a bit less than a 300 rr race, with lots of extra goodies. Plus 1 of 25 in the U.S. Can't complain about that!!! Go Beta
I didn't know the map switch didn't come stock on the non 6 days model. Glad I went with husky... I switch between modes when I come out of technical stuff into faster trails. The 6 days model graphics aren't appealing to me imo.
i am thinking of this bike and the husky , i saw that husky cost the same or a bit more but second hand they worth less , or is that just here in my country where ktm is king and husky not so much ?

I agree completely. If you can afford it who cares about $1000 when it’s what you want. I’m going for a 21 or 22 if still road legal. In Australia rules just changed so I’m thinking only 2021 bikes will pass
@@jamesgeorgevellavella1961 Good Luck!
The limited edition model never makes financial sense in any brand. It’s an emotional decision, just because you like it!
A breath of air to get an honest, down to earth review. Thank you.
A few thousand KTM 6Days graphics kits bought by KTM in bulk .39 cents each. The look on the owners face riding one: PRICELESS !!
On the four stroke 350 (2018 model) you get the fan. That’s not standard.
Fredric i think it comes with all Four stroke sixdays it does for the 450 and 500 as well
The 6 days version is totally worth every penny! All the plastics are carbon fiber and every nut and bolt are titanium. Under that fancy seat cover is memory foam. Then in the engine department you get factory porting that the factory team runs followed by a cone pipe. Bib mousse inserts round out the package 📦
I work in KTM, And six days are nice, they looks cool, next model 2021 is Six day of Italy.
I think the Six Days comes with the carbon pipe guard also. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I think the only added value is the skid plate and pipe guard, though the pipe guard will only do so much.
No 2020 models don't have carbon pipe gard
@@leonvojnovic9647 Thank you for the correction.
Probably help if you had all your screws on your triple clamp in! - Just sayin. 3:26
@Phil Mccrevasse The main bike that he has in the video only has 1 of the 2 bolts in the lower triple clamp. I am sure there is a reason for this, Idk what the reason is... But he was probably working on something.
Well spotted fella 😂😂👍
Those are bolts not screws....
Carbon pipe guard too. But missing radiator fan, larger brake tip and grab handle in my case.
Dang, I was hypnotized by the 6 Days. Thanks for breaking the spell.
2 piece steel sprockets are well worth the money, they barely wear, and because they don’t wear your chain doesn’t wear and stretch as fast. I’ve done 3 chains on the same steel sprocket
Love your videos cause you're very respectful and non judgmental. Very professional too 👍
Six Days? I only use seven day bikes, one for each day of the week.
I only use night bikes 7 nights a week👋
Garage goals.
missing a tripple clamp bolt he might need to upgrade that front end when it falls off...
I whole heartily agree with you on this
The 2 piece sprocket is steel in the teeth section and aluminum in the center to keep the sprocket light while keeping the chaining durable.
Good points. Buy your own bling. After market plastics and custom graphics still leaves a good budget for more essential add ons.
This is the first time I’ve thought this guy didn’t know what he was talking about, this wasn’t one of his better videos
Great information, the Gas/Gas EC-250-300 does come with usable extra's.This bike is 500.00 over the regular EC models, but it really shines in looks!
Diesel Power Increasing the preload is not the same as increasing spring rate, it won’t firm your suspension up for motocross tracks.
@@Howling-Mad-Murdock not firmer but it will ride higher in the stroke so it helps a lot
Here’s another thought… down the road when you want to sell your bike the six days stands out and you will get more for it. While aftermarket parts do not add much value the name and the bling that comes with it do.
I dont buy ktm sixdays, because i chose yamaha - quality, reliability and power :)
Because I’m 6 ft 1 I need a different seat and the hand guards are not what I use because I use the full wrap around. For me I totally agree.
Also you missed to say that 6 days get radiator guards & fan.
Bought my 18 300xcw six days last october. Salt Lake area dealers wouldnt budge on any 300 xcw prices and most dealers had ridiculous "prep" fees which I refuse to pay. Got mine new from a dealer in Salem Ore for $9k OTD plus $300 to ship. so I paid less than the $9600 plus prep that local dealers wanted for base 300xcw.
it's like you've never even raced an enduro.
billet triple clamps are stronger and lighter
the other map doesn't make the bike run like shit, it reduces power for more traction in slippery conditions so you have more control and can ride faster.
solid rotors don't clag up with mud nothing to do with strength.
steel sprocket lasts longer aluminium is lighter it's the best of both worlds.
axle puller is important when you have 5 minutes to change a tyre.
yes i realize none of this applies to you.
the reason you didn't buy one is because you aren't going to race it that's all.
Your video’s are just well put togheter & high quality , you ARE adding value :)
Hmm sort of agree but floating disc is definitely a plus for delicate braking e.g. front wheelies etc !
just got my 2020 300tpi sixdays last week
garbage
@@tanectanec8566 nah its kinda good actually mine is a supermoto tho sold the dirtbike tires and rims the same day i got it
Were I live the six days cost about €1200 more, I bought the normal exc and with the money I saved I bought it a skid plate with pipe guard, radiator guards, front & rear straps front & rear disc guards, digital radiator fan, after market seat cover, after market bendable levers, an awesome Red Bull graphics kit & I still have saved money plus it looks much nicer to 😁
6 days is worth it if you add up the stuff that comes on it.
If you were to buy all these extras on the aftermarket you'd be well over $1k... So if you want a 6 days it's good deal.
2:35 yeah I think it looks kinda sweet actually
Thank you for this. I agree. Bling it yourself with that 1K and it will be much more unique
Good Video as per usual Kyle, my only question would be: As they are limited edition bikes that are only produced for that model year wherever the 6 days event was, would that mean that the depreciation on the bike as a % is better than that of a standard bike? Does that, therefore, make them more desirable and more expensive?
totally agree, not worth the extra $$ for mostly just bling and you don't get it back on re-sale, in Australia they cost an extra $2,500
Australia Tax
You know what sets my bike apart so I can find it when parked at events? It says Beta on it 👍
You can't even recognize your bike? Man
Used to be that when the parts were made anything that was of a higher quality was reserved for the 6 days bikes
Thanks for this, I was under the misguided opinion that the six days bikes had better suspension.
That's a lot of "i don't know" man
You also get an electric fan on six days models
It's like buying Eddie Bauer edt. Ford. Paying for a name.
Bought the bike yesterday-saw the video today...
Six days is a total waste of money. You can install far better parts with the price difference on a stock model
Tom Bobtail not true ,
@@JCKloppers Very true statement.
I’m late to this video, but those tusk impact rims are worse then stock. The best wheel setup is Kite hubs, dubya spoke and nipples, and excel A 60 rims. I race motocross at the highest amerature level. 👍
Win for the Husky!!
I bought a Six Days mode because I wanted a 450 instead of a 500, which was the only way to get a 450 in 2019. I have an EXC-F model (dual sport mode)
And all the huskys of that era came with the 4cs fork too.
Those triple clamps are forged, not cast. Forged are really strong, just not cool looking. You can identify a forging versus casting by the parting line. Forged part has a thick (.1 inch) parting line, cast has a thin, sharp line.
ed matthews prob a lot lighter too. Reason I buy huskys and not the ktm. Plus I like the color scheme better too.
Are you talking about the ones on the stock bike or the 6days?
@@chadr678 stock bike. Cast would be far too weak
I had the machined ones on my 2009 530 and the fugly stock ones on the 2016, the machined ones were more precise. Loosen the pinch bolts and the forks would slide right out. Loosen the '16 clamps and still have to twist and pull the forks to remove.
Husky has linkake, ktm doesnt (only sx and xc model)
Brake discs whitouth holes claim that mud doesn’t stick in to them so they can’t eat the pads.
Great videos!!
Thanks for the info it has helped me make several informative choices
The preload adjusters are great if you don't perfectly match the stock setup. It's a thing you do once, but you probably don't repeatedly use it. Nice to have to dial it in initially. Alone, probably not worth the upgrade, but could be a factor if other components are valuable.
I thougth 6 days came with better/stronger rims, which would be worth something. But the newest ones don't.
Just bought a Beta 300 Steve Holcomb edition. Paid quite a bit less than a 300 rr race, with lots of extra goodies. Plus 1 of 25 in the U.S. Can't complain about that!!!
Go Beta
Look at Kyle flexing with that 1,000 dollars 😂😂
Is the radiator fan another edition? In some country’s the extra parts total over $1,000 thus making it appealing.
Good info as in all vids. You forgot that six days has orange frame in 2018. That’s why I bought 300
the reason for the solid rear brake disc is to HELP heat distribution
I didn't know the map switch didn't come stock on the non 6 days model. Glad I went with husky... I switch between modes when I come out of technical stuff into faster trails. The 6 days model graphics aren't appealing to me imo.
i am thinking of this bike and the husky , i saw that husky cost the same or a bit more but second hand they worth less , or is that just here in my country where ktm is king and husky not so much ?
