Whatcha think?
Yes, the Ninja is an awesome bike and if you want more touring with a little bit of sport then the Versys 1000. The Versys has the same quick shifter and cruise control but more upright and bigger screen.
same as the 2023, 2022, 2021, only different color
i have the red 2023
and its awesome
Everything is great except it’s a tad bit top heavy. I sat on one and it was super comfy just top heavy.
If you've been riding an FJR it feels much lighter in comparison!@@keltecdan
@@sfzx54 I ride a Suzuki sfv650. The Ninja 1000sx does feel lighter than its weight suggests. I guess I need to get out and ride heavier bikes to get used to it.
I bought this bike in December 2023. My Christmas present 😊. So far I put 235 miles on it. I love it. I installed the Akrapovic exhaust , Kawasaki frame sliders, spoolers, and the Puig dark windshield. I definitely recommend this bike!
Sounds like you could have taken a Performance Edition (or Tourer Performance Edition) instead of installing those one by one.
Curious.... full system exhaust? Any ECU tuning?
@@exothermal.sprocket No, just the slip on exhaust. I did not make any computer adjustments.
@@k.a.5283 Okay no prob. Just wondering if anyone has done this and can report the results.
@@exothermal.sprocketvery easy to flash ECU. Definitely a must have if you’re removing the cat
Did 750 miles in 12 hours on mine, from Delaware to Kentucky. Love this bike!
I love the cruise control on the Kawi 1000 SX. That's the one feature I wish was common on all bikes.
had to get in the late 40's to develop this strong urge/desire to make the motorcycle license and went straight for a 2021 moondust grey, full "Performance SE" (panniers, carbon exhaust, frame sliders+case protectors etc. (i was realistic ;) heated grips, custom seats and tourer shield). it was one of the best moves i ever made and i ride her literally all year long since then.
i kept modding her, removed the grey covers with diamond black metallic ones, painted levers and footpegs in her candy burnt orange accent color and added a few aftermarket accessories - one of the best looking changes was the all black racing shield (puig) which is about the size of the bigger touring shield but looks so much better...
such a great bike...
I owned a 2018 version. Best bike i've owned. The only bike i regret selling. I ride a fully upgraded 2015 BMW S1000R now, and still, i miss the 1000SX
yes! now you finaly understand !!! I have the 2018 model for 4 years loving it more and more every day
I have a 2017 that I purchased new and never have wanted to replace it.
These reviews are very helpful. Great job detailing the ins and outs of the bike. Looks super mint!!!
Had mine for a year now. Best bike I've ever owned added an achropovic exhaust system, sounds beautiful, top end with tune is now 171mph. I don't want to change again. So smooooooth! I've done almost 10000 miles all over Europe . Never had an issue.
Great review btw.
Awesome! Just got my ninja 1000sx do you have a full exhaust for your tune?
Thank You for this amazing video! I own an 2021 1000SX and it´s simple awesome! Plenty of power and perfectly mananoevrable at the same time. The ideal biKe for touring the Alps. Best regards from Austria!
Mananoevrable? Holy hell. LOL
Purchased the 2024 Kawasaki 1000 SX about a month ago. Exactly the same as this video. Now I need a prepaid legal and speeding ticket fund.
If you happen to know, How does this bike compare to the ZX-6R? I understand the CC and HP/TQ different but how different is the performance between the two?
I havent owned both bikes, but ive ridden them both. In a straight line, they seem equal in acceleration and top speed. The zx-6 obviously is superior in handling. The zx-6 is a true supersport and will dominate on a track thru the corners, but with its high rpm power delivery you must be skilled
I’ll add that the zx-6r, at least the brand new ones, are surprisingly torquey at low rpm
I literally just watched your older ones yesterday and you test the 2024. I like these videos. I’ve been looking for a channel that tests newer versions of the same bike regardless of updates or not.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS. I PICK IT UP TOMORROW. BEYOND EXCITED.
Now you’re talking!!! Awesome bike in my opinion!!! 👍
I have the 22. I’m a bigger fellow but I’m always amazed at how comfortable the rider triangle is, how balanced it is front to back and side to side, and how sweet the air flows around this machine. I have several bikes i could choose to ride, but I’m on this a lot. Nice neutral, friendly, comfortable machine for what’s essentially a personal rocket ship. My biggest complaint continues to be, the only green on this machine is a zip tie i put on it. Have the touring screen, bags and a comfort seat, plus additional driving lights. Crisscrossed the southwest several times. Only plans for performance upgrade is to swap out the brake lines for braided lines, cause it’s far, far more capable than i am.
I bought a 23 model back in January of 23 and absolutely love it! The bags are a nice size and convenient too. I don’t think I will ever get rid of it and I prefer it over my low rider ST.
Yeah i got this 2023 ninja1000sx best of both worlds, comfortable for long ride and smooth . Plenty of power on tap, nice fast bike
If you happen to know, How does this bike compare to the ZX-6R? I understand the CC and HP/TQ difference and the price difference but how different is the performance between the two? Is there a clear winner?
@brandonevans743 performance comparisons zx6r is gonna be more sporty side obviously 13400 rev limit vs ninja 1000sx 11500 also the power to weight ratio zx6r got the advantage. Performance and bang for buck will be zx6r but the true winner will depends on how are you gonna ride it because if your gonna daily it vs just weekend rider ninja1000sx will have advantages being a Sport touring i ride it to work 45 mins ride easy ergonomic somewhat upright position plenty of room for Full tuck, very comfortable plus being a 1000cc bike its very smooth, cruise control, adjustable front n rear suspension. Thats my opinion and experience riding Both motorcycle
I put Murph's bar risers on mine and it made the ride position perfect. I am in my fifties, tall and have had a lot of injuries so I can't lean over too much
Such a beautiful color on this 2024Sx!
I own the 21' put hdrs on it w/Akrapovic , took off factory taillights trimmed them up. All black w/ Dunlop meats she'll do 180 up a mountain. Love it!😁
After you review the one in Canada come down to Australia and review mine 2023 too :). Great video and an even better bike, well done. Love your work and learned a lot from you. Cheers
I got a 2020 version with panniers, frame sliders, akra exhaust and heated handgrips. I just love my bike. It’s bad weather here in Belgium. So waiting for spring/summer days.
Only negative point would be that it is a heavy bike. Feels kinda sketchy on slow speed turns. But for the rest, it’s a beast.
Having owned an older model. It's perfect for extended multiday camping trips while still being quite sporty. Plenty of clearance for as much lean angle as you'd want on the street. I do wish I had had cruise control, but the shifting was very responsive even without a quick shifter. Not sure why but it was very easy to catch the gears just with a quick blip of the throttle. I took it a couple time down some dirt roads to get to OHV camping sites and felt fine. LOVED the bosch IMU on it.
The seat is ok, but a nice hack for the long hauls is to wear bicycle shorts with padding on the tail bone. Also for sure get a bigger windshield, the stock height seemed to push bugs right into my visor 😂
thinking of getting one of these after my zx6r has lived its life! Looking nice!
Wonderful bike: I’ve been considering that next to the BMW 1250 RS, which I eventually picked up just because I like low revs torque. Cheers ✌️
I sat on the rs today so awesome feels light , friggen expensive though
I test drive this bike a year ago. It sits quite straight up while looking like a sports bike. It has a very neutral feel to it. Almost as easy to ride as my training bike. Only problem I had, which made me choose something else, was my right heel touching I think the exhaust when riding on the balls of my feet. I'm a size 46.
I have 32000km on my 2021, never had an issue. This review is better than the one you did previously of the exact same bike (just older graphics), especially this time you knew had a quick shifter.
I love how creamy the power delivery is on this bike, it’s a very quiet bike but like may other Kawasaki the best sound if from the rider position, induction sound is just awesome. It’s a bit too heavy and the seat gets a bit uncomfortable after 1 hour, at least for my bony ass.
I have the 2019 1000. Freaking amazing ride
I've got this one z1000sx 2020 instead of my mt-09 tracer 2015. But I enjoy green 💚 classic Kawa colour. Reeeeally looking forward for the start of the season
Miine is in the best colour. Emerald Blaze green :D Absolutely love it. Lots of options for addons as well. I've done a series on them.
I'm on my 2nd 2014 N1K, racked up over 130,000 miles between the 2 bikes (without cruise control or quick shift lol). It's an awesome bike. *****Hey Kawasaki, I'm waiting for the 40th Anniversary model to get to the USA*****
I love mine :) I have a 2021, great for sunday canyon rides or week long trips
Sweet ride, don't think we have that colour combination in the UK. Keep up the great work.
Sport/touring with power and a quick shifter?!? Awesome package!!! 👍
there is more
I own a 2021 version. Can't see myself ever parting with this bike. Absolutely love it. BTW, you can change the angle of the wind screen with the lever below the bottom right corner of the TFT screen.
I had one of these. Swapped it for an Africa Twin AS. Big mistake. Now looking to swap back to this Kawasaki.
@@carleddison7479 I hope you find one in the colour scheme that you like man... I'd be kicking myself too...
@@carleddison7479I’m choosing between the two (24 AT DCT )
@rajindarsingh1417 I'm quite tall (6'2") so the Africa Twin AS manual worked well for me. Just expensive to service and never taken off-road. The Z1000sx offers plenty of room, fast and nimble, comfortable and good on fuel. Also much cheaper to service. Spark plugs (4) for AT are VERY expensive.
@@carleddison7479thanks , here in Singapore it’s 31k USD for the Kawasaki & 38k for the AT ES DCT . I always thought the Honda is cheaper to run , so thanks. Btw I need a bike that can be left in the Sun & rain & not get affected hence the AT but maybe I’m wrong. The Kawasaki is definitely better on paper & will never go wrong. The AT 24 with 19 inch from tyre was really desirable with the DCT. I’ll have a year to decide. Currently riding a Diavel 2011.
Definately my upgrade bike from a Ninja 400! Nice review!
Fantastic bike.
I can’t wait to get a bike, definitely going to practice your teachings
I have the 2023 red this ninja 1000sx. I bought the bigger version windshield in Kawasaki store, which is more beautiful and efficient. This is my first bike as new rider since 2 years. No concerns about it.
Getting one of these next year! Would love to see a full high speed review on this
I can't wait until you test the new Suzuki GX+!
Def will be my next upgrade from a 450ss. I dont care for red tho. I loved the silver/green color scheme a couple years ago
I have 2 bikes, A HD trike and a '15 FJR, i been watching videos on the SX and im liking it. If and when I add another bike it's definitely a SX.
Nice review. I have the 2018 model with after market pipes. Would love the prick shifter and cruise control.
Can't believe they're sticking with that tree stump for a can. Loved my first gen 1000sx!
I took mine on the tail of the dragon back in May of 23. So fun!
Thanks for the preview. Nice bike and greatest color combination like my 87 Ninja 750.
The quick upshifter is great but I still prefer to do the downshifts on my own, I'm way smoother than the down quick shift and just don't really use that much. Mine is the 2023 model wondering if they made some improvement there? I did add the kawasaki touring screen and like it better than the stock original.
Great and good looking bike! It's got just everything you need! Only thing, I don't know if it's well suited and comfortable enough for multiple day and long touring rides with your pillion..
Hello from Italy, great video, I had a Yamaha FJR 1300 AS (year 2007) which weighed 270 kg (595 lbs) but the weight was felt much more with panniers and passenger, almost impossible to move it in the saddle. In 2018 I changed it to a Yamaha Tracer 900 GT, light as a bird's feather. In a few days I will pick up my Ninja 1000 SX Performance Tourer my 2024 (same color as the bike tested in the video). I hope to experience the same excitement as you did in this video.
Do you get option to purchase with the bags or have to buy bags separately?
Ciao @@MrWhiteTank, purchased (but in Italy) as standard with side bags and predisposition (plate Monokey) for GIVI rear bag (V47-NNT Tech ), Akrapovic silencer, GPS navigator holder, engine guard and more.
Great review! Maybe my next bike 🙂
I bought one 2022 model love it awesome . Hi from Australia 👍
Looks like a great sport touring bike. I get quick shift but being an old guy I still like the way Rev matching while shifting keeps me tuned in to my machine. (Just saying )
Tab directly under the display to the right to adjust the windscreen up for better wind coverage.
i owned this one from 2019.
sold it for an Indian FTR.
sold that for a 2021 Versys for comfort ...
actually want this one back ... looking back at it with all the changed since 2019 (CC, QS, screen, ...) i love it
Maybe the versys 1000 se lt +? Fair comparison between those 2 in terms of pros/cons of one or other?
I simply love kawasaki. Im really happy with my rsv4 but i feel i do want to own a kawa at one point too
Hi really injoy your video's im looking at buying a spor touring bike the moto guzzi v100ls have been on harleys for the past 10 years am interested to known your thoughts on the v100s and if you have had a chance to ride one thanks
Cracking bike!
I feel ya on accelerate past trouble when feasible. Someone not paying attention in front of you is an hazardous condition waiting to happen to you. Someone not paying attention in your rear view mirror is a hazardous condition waiting to happen to someone else.

This new color scheme is beautiful. Hopefully someone can lend you one for a full review with bags on please. 😉
It can come with a larger wind-shield. On the Ninja 1000SX | 2024 webpage, (not the My Ninja 1000SX | 2024 webpage), there are different model specs. These are for Standard, Performance, Tourer, and Performance Tourer.
My GSXR750 will pick up like that but its obvious even from a video that for a given acceleration the rider has to work the Gixxer harder. Looks a great bike for covering maybe 300 miles enjoyably yet feeling less fatigue as riding 200 miles on a race replica. This matters much more when you are in 50s/60s I'm sorry to say☺
This bike is so slept on imo, I barely see it mentioned everyone just talks about adventure styled tourers
I have this bike on order and should be here today, available for pickup tomorrow. A question about the preload adjuster:
Being a shorter person, myself, is it ok to lessen the preload so it sags lower, allowing me to have better foot contact at stops? I will be trading in my ‘12 ZX-10R for this bike…so I’m already used to being basically on my tip-toes at a stop, but never had a bike with a preload adjuster.
My brother had one- it's a terrific bike.
This is a freaking awsome bike for someone who has is ready to admit, he can't take a sport's bike position any more.... (I'm not ready to admit it yet...)
Kwai’s intake sound is sooo good
:)

Somebody lend this man this bike for a full review!
Good choice
So you like this better than the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT? I'd love to see your take on the BMW R1250RS and how to compares. I know you reviewed the R1250R. It's probably pretty similar.
Pretty sure the windscreen is adjustable to a higher and more vertical position
definitely feel this will be the upgrade for me once i move on from my ninja 400.
That's a big stepping stone. Be advisable to work with a 750-900cc bike before going to something like this. You'll advance your skill quicker taking a middle step.
He'll be fine. There's rider modes if it's really needed. @@exothermal.sprocket
I ave that exact bike and I love it the best bike I've ever rode I also ave a gsxr 1000 two but rather ride my kawasaki
Not at all a criticism of this bike as such, but I recall {I'm 66 now} the time when most manufacturers offered a shaft driven version of their larger bikes, Suzuki GS1000G, Kawasaki Z1000 and Z1000 ST etc. Drive chains are a lot more robust these days but I wonder if it's more a case of keeping manufacturing and parts diversity to a minimum, rather than the additional weight penalty. I did own a shaft driven Yamaha XJ900 in the 1980's, which had the usual jacking up of its back end when moving off from rest, but was otherwise perfectly fine and that issue seems to have been eradicated with modern shaft drive systems anyway. Hypocrisy from yours truly but I've been riding a chain driven steed for years now, with a manual chain oiler. Constant lubing and adjustments are very tedious, so it does ameliorate that quite well.
Best regards from Wales, UK.
Bought this bike several months ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It has been the sports bike and the touring bike that I have always wanted. Would love to see you put it through its paces at some point and only wish I was close to the San Diego area to let you borrow it but unfortunately am not.
have the finally fixed the stock seat?
you can come anytime and review my 1000sx 2023 , but i live in canada, , you can over if you want i have the place :)
mine is from 2020. she is the best
Nice review 😊
Thank you 😊

🙏❤️ Love from Scotland ❤️🙏
I rode one at a kawasaki demo last weekend. It was tits. The riding position is fantastic for my lower back(i’m 39). The engine is stuuuupid good, and it is the most attractive sport tourer by far
i have a 650 2014 its really worn tho. im working on that part.
I’m considering the Ninja 1000SX as a comfortable sport tourer but when compared to the 2024 Yamaha Tracer 9GT Plus I think you get more tech and bang for your buck with the Yamaha. It’s $16,500 comes with side luggage where it’s optional on the Ninja
Which would you choose ?
Please let me know which you recommend
and why
Thanks 🙏
What did you end up buying? I’m in the same boat with both bikes
What's the deal with the right bar end?
What kind of bike should I get , for my first bike?
Dont get me wrong the 1000sx is a very nice bike (Bought the 2014, 2017 and 2018 Model of it) but in my oppinion the sportiest touring bike (and i mean that in comfort and speed) by far is the Ninja H2 SX SE
I might have missed it, but what is your inseam length?
Be interested in what you think of the Moto Guzzi V100S, another cool sports tourer.
never rode it
I love my 2023 kawasaki ninja 1000 sx.
what bike is more comfortable this, or the suzuki gsx 8r?
There is a lot about this bike that entices me
Amazing the longevity in this design. For years I have been riding a 2010 Z1000 which is basically the same bike as this but naked and no tech.
How is this bike compared versus BMW F900 XR versus Suzuki GSX-S1000GT for long distance road trips? My priority would be the comfort for several hours trips. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)
I bought this bike a month ago, love it
😁
linktr.ee/GregWidmar
I also wanted to include, cruise control and quick shifter work perfectly, little vibration in throttle which is normal on all my motorcycles but not bad, none in foot pegs, still looking for cushions hand grips for it though,
good to hear
Suzy GSXS1000GT is sportier in my humble opinion. It is lighter by 10 kg, has 10 hps more, has sportier suspension (fully adjustable) and is nimbler. I am still driving the 2019 F version and while I leave aesthetics to a separate conversation (certainly both GT and F are uglier than Ninja), the riding characteristics are much sportier (for me - better, but that’s subject to individual preferences).
And to avoid any doubt - I like Ninja very much 🙂
I agree with most of what you said....I think the Kawi is more nimble because I think it is smoother to lean. However, I love both bikes. The main thing that helped me choose the Kawi was the price because I found a used (almost new) one and saved money.
this really is a perfect bike for me, but the looks imo is the only thing keeping me to buy this beast.
I think the 2019 model with the quad exhausts was better looking than this year's version. Traditional biker so don't need the toys. Engine and suspension the same.
Found a 40th anniversary one at local dealer last Saturday. Looks awesome close up...
the 2014-2015 ones looks better strangely
Lower clutch, brake lever are better check✅️
Riding an fz6r, this might be next
I’m debating on this or the Suzuki gsxs 1000GT for my next bike. Anyone have experience on both and your thoughts?
I have test driven both. They are both excellent. The Suzuki has more character in some ways, the Kawi is more refined. Honestly, I don't think you would regret buying either. My choice was based on how my body type fit on the bikes. If you could try both for how you like to sit on the bike I think that will decide it for you.
