    Looked like good journalism! I liked how you asked the question about job creation. It is important to tackle these issues from every angle and to include what the defense of the business is. THEN, question if that defense is legitimate. You did that here. Please keep up honest and thorough journalism like this. I’m subscribing because of it. I would also have offered Bayer the opportunity to have a town meeting where the community could ask questions to show how they have clear and open communication with the public. And their response would have been great journalism. Either they turn out to do it and you show up with the members of the community you talked with and they have a conversation or they decline. Either way you offered everyone the chance to defend their stance and communicate with each other that would have made for an incredible interaction.That is key here. Again thank you so much for the dedication to rounded and thorough journalism!

    Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States, so naturally MONSANTO will want to totally control and take over their agriculture industry, too. After years of trying, they finally forced all of the farmers in India to buy their GMO seeds and toxic pesticides, which will put all of their family farmers permanently out of business. Anyone who refuses to buy MONSANTO GMOS will either be threatened, bought out, or simply sued in court until they go broke and have to declare bankruptcy. This is how the US does business.
    Now we want to take over Venezuela. MONSANTO will never stop until they own the food production of the entire world, just like Jeff Bezos of Amazon won't stop until he OWNS the world. Welcome to the New World Order.

Now Dow-Dupont is the US owned rival to Bayer/Monsanto in the GMO ..( except a chinese giant) . and.. FDA is the regulation maker ... they were in realtion with Monsanto when first GMO s were created ... Regulations have to change... this is the only way to stop GMO 's or harmful chemicals... as long as FDA OK's chemicals as harmless ... somebody will produce them.. If not Monsanto/Bayer ... then Dow-Dupont ... This is Just like asbestos issue.. FDA has to change the regulation to regulate Monsanto/Bayer and Dow/Dupont... Another note : Dow Dupont will be GMO Monopoly if Bayer/Monsanto goes away... so FDA regulation change is the key...

    Dena, thank you so much for sharing this with the world. I think this is a classic example of big corporations and industries exploiting local communities and the environment for their own self interest. This is extremely concerning as each day passes, these corporations get richer and the environment is destroyed even more. I believe the first step in the right direction is for local communities to organize and engage in civic activities to promote the welfare of their communities. We need to get the youth heavily involved as they are the ones who will be most impacted. Lastly, we need to exercise our consumer rights by protesting and boycotting harmful products and corporations that exploit their workers and propose shifts in policy and proper regulation.

    • @Innocent_Villain
      @Innocent_Villain 5 років тому

      It might well be easier than on the U.S. mainland at least in some areas, but it's still some distance from that to saying everyone can is in a position to do it to a sufficient degree to get around the problem posed by the toxic corporate farming. If that isn't what the op was saying, then I'm just qualifying the implications in general. I don't know the entire area and don't know if you do, but if conditions were that good everywhere then chances are that more people would be living on their own farming already. It also doesn't necessarily stop the spread of toxins from the corporate farms.
      I don't mean do diminish the idea that *some* people can get *some* benefit from farming in *some* areas though. One of the best ways to fight corporate power (in conjunction with other ways) seems to be to bypass it, but that's part of why the corporations and governments in most places don't make that easy.

    Im saddened and angry that this huge company can poison its workers directly, the rest of us indirectly and get away with murder by throwing up a few smoke screens of lawyers.

      Modifying abd Cross... It's all Evil and it takes one bad production to end all life. God didn't make this. Look at Tifton 85 Hybrid grass... It started producing cyanide after 10-15 years. Drought... A simple drought caused it stress and it created cyanide is the hypothesis. But in all reality nobody knows why this hybrid grass did this and killed so many cows in Texas and other states. Play with mother nature and something eventually will go wrong. God Help us all 😪

      @@BestUA-camVids123 Your post is false Happy Haus Vids. GMO technology is about farmers like me using much much less pesticides and much much safer pesticides with the pesticides even safer than many of the pesticides that Organic growers use. The CBS Evening News had a piece 8-30-2017 on how gmo technology was being use to cure some cancers. They showed exactly how is being done and they are also working on other cancers trying to cure them. Man has been breeding plants in all different ways for thousands of years to help benefit mankind. 500 years ago a carrot was pure white. GMO technology is use in many things to better the world. Almost all Insulin used today by diabetics is GMO insulin. GMO rennet has been used for decades to make cheese. The cheese making enzyme breaks down proteins and separates them from whey. Golden Rice to benefit vitamin A-deficient children. & BT CORN AND COTTON. GMO proteins include blood- clotting factors to help Hemophiliacs, the hepatitis B vaccine, thyroid hormones, laundry detergent enzymes, and many synthetically produced amino acids used in nutritional supplements. There are many many many more benefits of GMO technologies. We all should give thanks to GOD for giving us the wisdom of GMO and stand up to those that tell lies about GOD's blessings trying to play GOD themselves trying to take away his blessings. www.cbs.com/shows/cbs_evening_news/video/unavz0ldRHLRSnhW_KZvIifswdeSBS9C/fda-approves-brand-new-way-to-treat-leukemia/

    I am astound by your report. My mother is from Aruz, Juana Diaz. Although, she has not lived there for over 45 years. She has family and friends who still call Aruz home. I am 53 years old the eldest of 5 kids, I was 8 years old when we got to the States. I consider we are lucky that we were not exposed to the toxics that the people you interviewed spoke about. As my mother would send us for summer vacation every other summer for three months and we played at the “gancha” basketball court everyday. I had heard stories of the matter. But I did not realize how serious it is. Now, that Puerto Rico is moving in a different direction perhaps there should be a protest to created awareness and let the Aruz community know that they are not alone. I have fond memories of my childhood at Aruz. I took my 3 kids to visit my family and grandparents when they were alive there to Calle Los Feos. I now have 2 young grandchildren that should also have the same privilege of visiting safely the place where their ancestors lived. 🇵🇷 May God protect everyone in the Aruz Community. Desde Pennsylvania.

    Most people in Puerto Rico know nothing about Monsanto and their operations in Puerto Rico, most don;t even know there is a Monsanto in the island. Problem is that they are protected by the local government and the media, which in turn, are controlled by the Cuban exile, Puerto Rico's worst enemy. 121 years of colonial rule are the main cause of the current state of affairs.
