For a non deleted truck, that factory tip actually helps keep the egt's down. I would have gone with the Banks Monster exhaust that actually helps keep egts down during regens.
The vents help cool the exhaust down. GM has them for a reason and so does ford. The exhaust will be hotter now with this elbow it just won’t be pointed back on your tailer. Would rather trust Gail Banks who does this for a living and and has a multi million dollar company and not just trusting some guy on UA-cam who doesn’t lol
i think u just severly messed up bro, u need that exhaust vent in there. i went with the mbrp, its about 100 bucks cheaper and keeps the vents in place. also has a way better clamp design.
Been hearing about check engine lights on the 24s due to a back pressure on the exhaust tip not being there? There’s a sensor somewhere in the exhaust. Has this been figured out?
This happened to my 24 today, will be looking to return it for sure. Pain in the ass, being listed to work on a 2024 but will not. Within 5 miles got engine light and started count down to limp mode.
Interesting, I ordered a 4 inch tube mandrel bent from AutoZone with similar degree angle and a 4inch expanded to 6inch tip. Bought 2k degree black flame paint and it looks very similar to this, it's not polished of course, but for < 95 bucks... it was great... Mine does exist closer toward under the step on the bumper, been on for 2+ years and NO problem at all... I do like the polish look though... wonder if it will turn yellow though...
Don"t do this on a 2024 Duramax L5P. When you cut off the venturi with the factory exhaust tip you will upset the balance of the exhaust back pressure between the pre-DPF and the post-DPF pressure sensors. This will set codes in the system that will never permanently clear , they will keep coming back. The venturi is somewhat of a restriction which raises the exhaust back pressure. The computer expects to see this pressure and if it doesn't see the proper pressure differential between the two sensors a code will be set. Additionally, the venturi creates a low pressure area aft of the venturi which pulls cool outside air into the exhaust tip vents to cool the exhaust temperature. While such kits will physically fit, you will create problems on a 2024 truck. The values that the computer looks for on the sensors are different on the 2024. Earlier models don't seem to be affected as the 2023 and earlier computers are not as strict with these sensor inputs. When I put mine on my truck I cut the factory tip off 3" aft of the vents which preserved the venturi and the computer sensor inputs. The finished product looked a little wonkey because the tip is several inches more to the rear than you might like, but at least I get no codes and the front of my 5th wheel isn't melted.
Just an FYI, I purchased this product for my 2024 Sierra 2500 HD. This product does not work with 2024 model, they have now changed their application to limit to 2023.
Wait until they figure out that exhaust tip is made that way for a reason enjoy those DPF repair bills 😂😂😂😂😂 rule # 1 when modifying a vehicle they will not waste money going out of their way to spend more money (building a tip bellmouthed like that with VENTS ) engineers will always strive for cheap and simple
Far better than stock for sure. The other company, Banks, looks better imo. Much larger pipe, 5 inch, and the tip is seven. While it doesn't really make it louder, it did change the tone on my 18 l5p.
And no that stuff in the new tip has nothing to do with making exhaust exit quicker its called a resonator it cuts down on droning in the cab like if this kit were used as it was meant to be with a DELETED truck thats straightpiped it will quiet down the drone in the xab
If you put it on the 2024 you will get the dpf pressure too high they are sensitive it’s not covered under warranty, but everything else is, that code derate the engine to 65 then 55mph all the way to 5mph

Diesel power products sells a really nice 5in elbow that is vented, don't really need it to be vented but I worry about the plastic on the bumper possibly melting

And if it did it’d be $5,000 to do it yourself and over $7,000 to pay someone to do it. That tailpipe wasn’t for sound it’s to point the exhaust out the side so when it Regens all the heat doesn’t get sent into your trailer or load or even cars behind you. Therefore you’re sound argument is invalid due to the fact it’s not for sound it’s for exhaust relocation

Put the tip clamp facing forward so you don’t see it from the back. Cleaner that way

@billylee2312 did you leave the Venturi in? I bought the flo-pro ST110070B. The Venturi helps to draw in cool air.
@@reelinhuntin yes it comes with the Venturi built into it. I cut the factory off just past the weld of the factory tip and venturi.
