Was always taught that the French created democracy, having the first form of voting in of politicians and laws by the people not rulers.
Always thought a republic was simply the rights of the people protected by a constitution...not voting.
Perhaps democracy is the votes of the people and a republic votes from those in power not the people. The founders didn't have we the people vote in the constitution it was put in place without the people's consent being not a democracy. Though the constitution is pretty solid but it was not voted on by we the people rather by those with power and wealth. Correct?

Also, in many of those cities they are not allowed to do their job and even in cities where they can do their job the bleeding heart libertarian D.A. lets them free to commit more crimes.
