I think the concept of fascism has become muddled and borderline worthless. Even Vaush can't define fascism beyond a broad set of social and political goals with a common theme of nationalism and revanchism. I think we need another phrase to describe this phenomenon. Something appropriately punchy and condemning. Something like "hatred for humanity". Misanthropism, perhaps.

This shouldn't just scare US citizens. As an English person, I can't envision _any_ feasible scenario whereby the UK (especially a post-EU UK) offers any kind of meaningful resistance to the rise of an unambiguously and openly fascist USA. Can you imagine what it'd be like to live in a world where an unironically fascist USA is the new norm? Or at least the new dominant "politically correct" ideology. I voted for Biden in 2020 and I'm voting third party in 2024. Lesser of two evils doesn't cut it anymore. In fact, Biden is the greater evil of the two. If people like me who will stay home in 2024 or vote third party ensure a Trump victory, blame it on Biden for not being good enough. He had ample opportunity to have a successful first term and blew it. At a bare minimum, he could have taken weed, mushrooms off the registry day 1. He could have relieved more student debt. He could have given free healthcare to East Palestein and Maui which he has the power to do under the ACA without Congress (Obama did the same thing in a Montana town). He could have pulled way more troops out and shut down a bunch of military bases. I have done an insane ammount of research into how to truly purify water. The big problem is that all micofilters are all plastic. Reverse osmosis uses plastic filter, etc. It turns out the single method to truly ensure you are consuming water with zero microplastics and whatnot is via coconuts. Coconuts are the only realistic source of potable water that will no have microplastics. But you cant just buy coconuts from the store because they are contaminated by pesticides. If you are unable to afford to grow your own coconuts under a greenhouse, watering them exclusively with charcoal filtered evap distilled water, you are going to be turned gay by the microplastics and birth control in the water you drink.

Legally it is not a coup. A coup is an ILLEGALmeasurement to immediately change the leadership of a country/state. If the democratic elected leader is setting up new rules and policies during his leadership, he is LEGALLY allowed to do so (if it is not contrary to the constitution). The constitution says nothing about the amout of administrations workers or the number of loyalists in public offices. And thats the problem. And thats why Hitler was so hard to stop. The elected Hitler drastically undermined the opposition rights within the constitution until he could enforce a vote for his enabling act, which allowed him to go beyond the constitution. Then he step by step (and with time) overwrote constitutional rights until it was a factual fascist state. As this transition took many months and he already was the legal leader you can not point to any point in time where he could be arrested for a coup. Therefore you must be very careful of any anti democratic law, even if this specific law can not be proven to be the (total) coup. E.g. any voting right restriction law is in itself a not coup, but can lead with other laws to a fascist state.

As a New Zealander, this freaking *terrifies* me. It might seem strange to you, but I cried and had a minor panic attack when Trump got elected, even though I don't live in the US. I knew he was erratic, stupid, racist, narcissistic, exploitative, and basically a criminal, and that if there was a faction of the US prepared to stand behind him, then the US was in a far darker place than anyone knew, and that the world was in danger. Now we see how close that faction is coming to a full-scale conversion of America to 'Iran 2.0', or 'Russia 2.0'. When I try and imagine what the world would look like if Iran was the only global superpower, I just want to cry. And this is only happening because bad people are deciding they want it to happen. They could save themselves and us all the pain by just not doing it. The effects for the US and for the rest of us are going to be catastrophic in ways that we can hardly express today.

Trump passed 60% of their last mandate, and the percentage has risen every time since they first did this with Reagan. We can't assume they can't get this through.

I voted for Biden in 2020 and I'm voting third party in 2024. Lesser of two evils doesn't cut it anymore. In fact, Biden is the greater evil of the two. If people like me who will stay home in 2024 or vote third party ensure a Trump victory, blame it on Biden for not being good enough. He had ample opportunity to have a successful first term and blew it. At a bare minimum, he could have taken weed, mushrooms off the registry day 1. He could have relieved more student debt. He could have given free healthcare to East Palestein and Maui which he has the power to do under the ACA without Congress (Obama did the same thing in a Montana town). He could have pulled way more troops out and shut down a bunch of military bases. Legally it is not a coup. A coup is an ILLEGALmeasurement to immediately change the leadership of a country/state. If the democratic elected leader is setting up new rules and policies during his leadership, he is LEGALLY allowed to do so (if it is not contrary to the constitution). The constitution says nothing about the amout of administrations workers or the number of loyalists in public offices. And thats the problem. And thats why Hitler was so hard to stop. The elected Hitler drastically undermined the opposition rights within the constitution until he could enforce a vote for his enabling act, which allowed him to go beyond the constitution. Then he step by step (and with time) overwrote constitutional rights until it was a factual fascist state. As this transition took many months and he already was the legal leader you can not point to any point in time where he could be arrested for a coup. Therefore you must be very careful of any anti democratic law, even if this specific law can not be proven to be the (total) coup. E.g. any voting right restriction law is in itself a not coup, but can lead with other laws to a fascist state.

As a New Zealander, this freaking *terrifies* me. It might seem strange to you, but I cried and had a minor panic attack when Trump got elected, even though I don't live in the US. I knew he was erratic, stupid, racist, narcissistic, exploitative, and basically a criminal, and that if there was a faction of the US prepared to stand behind him, then the US was in a far darker place than anyone knew, and that the world was in danger.
Now we see how close that faction is coming to a full-scale conversion of America to 'Iran 2.0', or 'Russia 2.0'. When I try and imagine what the world would look like if Iran was the only global superpower, I just want to cry. And this is only happening because bad people are deciding they want it to happen. They could save themselves and us all the pain by just not doing it. The effects for the US and for the rest of us are going to be catastrophic in ways that we can hardly express today.

It's funny that we have to bring this up again in September of 2023. Trump laid this out specifically, and publicly in August 2022 in the first speech he game in DC since leaving office. It was horrific then, and it's horrific now. I suppose the difference between then and now, is than even most Republicans clapped back on it in 2022.
