Family searching for answers after man dies in Southern California jail

- A family is seeking answers from law enforcement following the death of one of their loved ones at a jail in Los Angeles County. Relatives of the man, identified as 43-year-old Eugene Youngblood, held a news conference Wednesday morning with their attorney to shed light on what they say is an unexplained death. On June 5, Youngblood was arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies for an alleged low-level misdemeanor and was transported to the Lancaster Jail, and according to the family's lawyer, the 43-year-old was just to receive a citation and then be released. Instead, about four hours later, Youngblood was found unresponsive in his jail cell.

15 second version: Suspect was on drugs at time of arrest, cause of death was already underway prior to arrest, died while in custody instead of at home where he would have died later that same night anyways, and family members have been coached to say "didn't follow protocol" by their attorney even though not one of them has any idea what the protocol is.

The coroner is part of the ‘good ole boys club’ - need independent autopsy.

This may not be any individual’s fault. Until there’s a complete investigation, we can just assume that he died of a heart condition or some similar reaction to a *ab, or substance. Of course, nobody wants to be in police custody. But, a person could just unalive from just about anything these days. Sad, for sure.
