Hi there. Is the the primary mirror for the 127 made oversize (133mm or something like that) to cater for the diverging light? Was made to understand SW has done that for the 150mm. Nice video. Thank you.
I've measured the corrector plate on our display model and it is very close to 127mm. I'm not able to measure the primary mirror without dismantling the scope, but I believe that the corrector plate might be cause some light divergence before it hits the primary mirror. If this is the case, the primary would have to be slightly larger than 127mm or that light would be lost.
Other than colour, are there any differences between this OTA and the black & white 127 Mak OTA or is it mainly the alt/az mount that has been updated.
As far as I know it's the mount that has been updated - with a built-in wifi. The Mak 127 tube itself is the same as the version that was supplied on the previous Star Discovery mount.
Hi, I’ve bought one, Sky-Watcher Skymax 127 AZ-GTi 127mm f/12 GoTo Maksutov-Cassegrain and I’m going to receive it next week. What eyepieces could you recommend me buy, 1.25”. I appreciate any help. Thank you again for your videos. This is coming with a wi-fi Mount, without the hand controller.
I think the Skymax 127 AZ-GTi 127mm comes with two eyepieces, a 10 and a 25. The eyepieces you get will be "super", which is a fairly basic lens. The 25mm is OK, but the eye relief of the 10mm super isn't great, and you might like to replace that with a higher quality 10mm, such as the Sky-Watcher 9mm Long Eye Relief Plössl, or better, an ED lens like a saxon Cielo 9mm. You could go for a shorter focal length eyepiece for more magnification, but if you did you'd have to improve the quality of the lens, as less than maybe 6mm you'll be really pushing the optics of a 127 aperture.
Hi there! Thanks for watching our channel. Because we're a retail shop, we aren't able to make unboxing videos unless we're putting the telescope (or mount or whatever) on display (or if we've got agreement from the person who has bought it). It's simply too expensive for us to unbox anything we like, as after we unbox them, we can't sell them as new. I know you want to see a Sky-Watcher 10" Quattro Newtonian, but we don't have one to show you! Thanks for your patience, and we'll make as many more videos as we can, and as soon as we can. The black and white 127 is different in that it has internal baffles and the finder scope is positioned for an EQ mount
