Very good procedural lesson. I received my Skywatcher AZ-GTi Mount and Tripod today. I am hoping to build a smart scope system using this mount. Thank you again. I will be back.
Thanks Patrick! I'm glad the video was helpful. We are still waiting for favourable weather here in Toronto to have first light for this setup...Cheers!
Excellent tutorial! I just picked up the new dual saddle AZ-GTi X model and its been a fantastic performer! Keep up the great work and best wishes from Scotland! :)
Thanks for watching! Appreciate your support. I have heard many good words about the AZ-GTi models. Good to know that you are happy with your AZ-GTi X. CS!
Thanks James. Yes, it is. Converting it to EQ mode in a day or two. I also got Evoguide 50Dx, ASIAIR Mini and SVBONY 30F4 Guide Scope to build a super portable rig. Getting ready for spring and summer. CS!
Serious question: the leveling part is quite obvious but when you first point the scope to the north, how do you know if thats the exact north? how do you measure that?
Thanks for watching! For rough alignment of the mount towards North, you may use some compass app in your phone. This is your starting point. Hope this helps. Cheers!!
@@SynthProject I'm going to do a video on Polar Alignment as soon as the weather permits. Also, I will be using the ASIAIR and direct connection to AZ-GTi using the EQMOD cable instead of using SynScan app.
I have some question. How this mount can apply to william optic telescope? Is it still can focus on the object at sky automatically? Or need do adjust to focus? I’m still new
Thanks for watching! You can use any scope on this mount provided that the total payload is less than 11 lbs. Focusing on a specific target is a function of the scope while taking the scope to any target in the sky is done by the mount. Hope this helps. Cheers!!
If I am aligning the scope with the intent to do lunar imaging, do you recommend aligning with an eyepiece first, then attaching the planetary camera after the target (the moon) has been centered in the eyepiece? Thank you for your reply.
It might be a good idea to get some tube rings for that scope and take the dovetail bar off the scope and connect it to the tube rings and block up the holes in the scope sides. You can then spin the scope the right way round and put the finderscope back on. It would also look better aesthetically, just a thought.
Hi! 👋 I recently bought it too. I'm trying to do the alignment with the SynScan hand control, but so far I haven’t been able to get it right... It’s easier to use the app, but I still have trouble executing the commands with the hand control (laughs) * I have to release my phone’s Wi-Fi to use the dedicated SC311 camera…
You didn't reveal the difference between "Go to" and "go to and track" once a target has been input. I assumed that once you go to a target the mount automatically starts tracking? Or, is that what "go to and start tracking " is actually for? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I’m not sure what problems. You are facing with your mount. You might want to get technical support from the manufacturer. Cheers!!
Is it possible to switch az-gti mount home position 180 degrees? Red dot finder is located in the lower part of my scope and it’s pain to use. If I turn it 180 and aim to north, the app thinks the rear of the scope is the front and facing north.
Thanks for the video, just got a Sky-Watcher virtuoso gti, and it helped me with the alignment. I just have one question though, how do you track the target when you have used the goto?
Thank you for your helpful video. Now I can easily to aligne at night. Is there also a tutorial, how the alignment works in day time? I want to have some sun picture too.
When I finish the alignment, the app opens the first screen of the allignment procedure where you have the button "begin the alignment." Makes me think that the alignment has failed and wants me to repeat it. I never get any confirmation that the alignment was successful.
@@AstroCrescent Not in my case. It goes back to the beginning of the alignment procedure. Once I did the alignment three times and gave up. the loop never ends.
@@srdjanmax happened to me to, try switching the alignment stars you use. I was in that loop your talking about and once I switched stars it worked fine, also try and choose the stars closest to the top of the list.

Excellent. I just recieved my Az-GTIX some days ago, i had first light with it yesterday evening. Thanks to your video, it was easy to get going. Could you also make a short follow up, on how to use the point an track function. For now, it does not work for me. After I have had moon, or Venus in target, and press Point and track, it does not track. Maybe I forget something. 🤔
thank you so much for your video. it is the most details teaching video i had been found in YT. this is a greatful help for the beginner like me. After I use the GO-TO function found out the target stars, will the AZ-GTI keep tracking the Star? I would like to take some Mars photos. Thank you so much!!!
Very difficult. The procedure I showed in the video is actually rough alignment with the help of coordinates shown by the SynScan app. Thanks for watching! Clear Skies!
I haven't tried this yet as I use Celestron Power Tank. But I have learned that the pack of 8 batteries lasts for several hours, not just a couple of hours. At least a new battery pack won't run out of power for a typical 8-10 hours of imaging session. Cheers!
