- We’re heading back to the mountains after four days at home. It’s the end of March 2023, and we’re in the middle of the season for our weeklong dog sledding adventures. Together with four guests and 28 of our Siberian Huskies, we leave Jokkmokk and head out back on the trails towards the mountains in the west. It’s a thrilling experience moving from the woodlands up to the high mountains, living the simple cabin life with overnights in cozy wood huts, facing changing weather conditions, getting to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), and finally ending up at Saltoluokta Mountain Lodge.

We are Stina & Matti and we live in Northern Sweden in a small place called Jokkmokk. Except for making videos we also run a small company called JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA and a kennel called WORKING HUSKY KENNEL. We offer guided outdoor tours in Swedish Lapland all around the year. During the winter we mostly do sled dog tours and in the summertime, it’s hiking tours, wildlife safaris, canoe, and packraft trips. We live year-round in Jokkmokk with our 50 Siberian Husky and 2 Border Collies.

My love to our dogs was one of the reasons why I didn’t want to have an ordinary work. You know 8-10 hours a day away from home.

The coffee pot… I have both older and newer. Of any reason I very often ended up with this one. It’s aluminium and that’s not super healthy. I looking in to titanium or stainless steel but it’s difficult to find one with a good volume.
You know… coffee is almost like religion in the part of the world. ;-)

The cook kit I & all other Boy Scouts used in late 40's were made of Aluminum, somehow we managed to survive aluminum cook kits, lead pencils, leaded gasoline, Bebee guns, & asbestos for insulation + we played in dirt which may be one of the rteasons I have a strong immune system & am healthy. We also played with other kids, outside.

This is so inspiring! Hello from a Swedish expat in Northern California. Having raised a couple of Siberian Huskies, I have the deepest love for the playful, energetic, and hardy nature of these dogs. I have met Iditarod mushers and know how much work goes into breeding, raising, training, and sledding with these dogs. I have profound respect and admiration for what you do and how you share it with others. Fantastiskt inspirerande! Jag längtar tillbaka när jag ser de vackra vinterlandskapen, hundarna, och norrsken!
