I think what Daniel doesn't understand is, that's what made them big in the US. The more harder songs. If they toured here more, and played those songs, people would be going nuts for them. They never really toured here after the first album, and if they do it's LA. They still play their songs on the radio in TX.
When they did this at Coffs Harbour, everyone didn't care whether it was sung different or not. Everyone just went APESHIT!!! And you can see why, their an awesome group. LONG LIVE THE CHAIR!!
i agree but i recorded them on VHS (HAHA how long ago was that) when they played live in australia promoting this album and he completely embellished on some of the parts... i don't think he's so much making fun of it as he is just getting older and having fun with it
electrifying performance as ever. great band, great crowd (wish i was there!). and daniel's drop dead gorgeous (my heart skipped a beat just thinking it). and do i glimpse a couple of...? rahr.
I like how they reinventing their old songs when they do them live. They made this one more experimental which is cool. I wonder what some of their older ones would sound like now?
Emotion sickness is in C sharp and he usually keeps the tuning and plays thinks like Freak, Paint Pastel Princess, Petrol and Chlorine, Without You etc. Did in Newcastle and London anyway...
I love Silverchair, but sometimes I get annoyed how they never play this song like it used to be. It's one of the first songs that got me into them. But the way they play it now is like they are making fun of what they used to be.
who was the stupid that said Daniel was not the same?! CAN U hear his screaming? If u like Silverchair, keep listen, if not give us a break. SILVERCHAIR!!!
Wow! I love that version...I love how they've made the Freak Show songs (particularly this and Door) sound SEXY...who'da thought they could do that?? As for the vocal comments...that's what happens when ya smoke...Stay away from it kids! LONG LIVE SILVERCHAIR
I really feel sorry for you, and people of a similar point of view. The fact that you still want them to be playing grunge and consider anything from Neon Ballroom upwards as anything other than good says something about you. Get your headphones out and listen to the real world, mate, there's a lot more going on than 1997 post-nirvana grunge. Silverchair are at their musical best at the moment. They've moved on now from Grunge and that's a great thing.
I sure do miss the old Silverchair... if there seems to be less soul, its probably because they've been playing Freak Show songs year after year after year... even I would get tired of doing it. Even though the new stuff is crap, at least they are excited about performing again. Not to mention, any singer knows there are songs you can get away with at 16 and 17, but once you get into your twenties... kiss a lot of the boyish rasp goodbye
I'm sitting here with my guitar in drop D, and I just figured out he's playing this song one note lower than the album version. His guitar must be in drop D flat.
I think they threw this one in half-assed for the hardcore fans. Doesn't seem like they enjoy playing this anymore, especially w/ the ridiculous vocals on the 2nd verse.
i reckon someone must have told him to play it fairly close to the original - normally they play this song really wack. the distortion sounds terrible too..
sad about daniel's vocals. everytime they do this song these days daniel does that gout coughing scream when he yells freak... and im sure he wants us to believe its totally voluntary
If you had videos of yourself say playing sport of some kind when you were say 15 and now you're a 27 year old professional in that sport. Wouldn't you look back at your old videos and laugh at how bad you were when you were 15?
if you look back at shows from when they actually released freak he ''made fun'' of the song a lot more. I'm sure it gets pretty boring playing a song the exact same way for 10years

he doesnt hate them, he said that because they were in high school when they recorded them, they were 14 for frogstomp and about 17 for freak show
just because people like the old silverchair doesnt mean they have to like the recent stuff, simple if you like it you like it if you dont you dont
When they did this at Coffs Harbour, everyone didn't care whether it was sung different or not. Everyone just went APESHIT!!! And you can see why, their an awesome group. LONG LIVE THE CHAIR!!
I can relate to this so sooooooo much
Daniel is not Kurt Cobain. He doesn't sing songs in a negative tone no matter what the circumstance is.

This is the best version of this song they've done yet.
I like how they reinventing their old songs when they do them live. They made this one more experimental which is cool. I wonder what some of their older ones would sound like now?
silverchair are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
his vocals are wicked on this 1 i dont no what u guys are talking about daniel is solid
Emotion sickness is in C sharp and he usually keeps the tuning and plays thinks like Freak, Paint Pastel Princess, Petrol and Chlorine, Without You etc. Did in Newcastle and London anyway...

LONG LIVE SILVERCHAIR
damn... this makes me feel sad ;_;
DANIEL JOHNS = GOD
i actually liked this a lot. I wanna see a new performance of Pure Massacre...but that'll never happen
sitting on a boat

Miss the old stuff, like the new stuff but it's not the same.
@gabrideen thats the way i feel about faultline lol
does somebody have the setlist of this show?
lol, you're right, he does

White Male Drop C#.
Umm, I believe they were still in high school and their break through song was, "Tomorrow".
Daniel Johns is a hybrid of Justin Timberlake, Chris Martin, thinks he is Jimi Hendrix and sometimes sing like Marilyn Manson.
Ben looks a bit like Dave Grohl.
I think they threw this one in half-assed for the hardcore fans. Doesn't seem like they enjoy playing this anymore, especially w/ the ridiculous vocals on the 2nd verse.
o.0
Freak with les paul? o.0
pretty good considering that i don't think Daniel likes to place this song that much
ahahaha sorry, I'm distracted by the fact that Daniel Johns is topless.. it's very "surfer dude".. he really beefed up, geez! Go vegetarians..
They wrote the song that means THEY! can perform it anyway they want. XD
doesnt mean it doesnt suck, guy from 12 years ago.
i'll admit some of the lyrics are kinda whack in this song but the first two albums are a couple of my all-time favorites
better than emo
i reckon someone must have told him to play it fairly close to the original - normally they play this song really wack. the distortion sounds terrible too..
hahahahaha yeah!
lol half way through the song he's slipping back into his 17 year old self
sad about daniel's vocals. everytime they do this song these days daniel does that gout coughing scream when he yells freak... and im sure he wants us to believe its totally voluntary

Yeah but this guy's high school self would look into the future and laugh at how bad he was when he was older.
Ok, that sounds like a Silverchair cover band!!! WTF!!!
if you look back at shows from when they actually released freak he ''made fun'' of the song a lot more. I'm sure it gets pretty boring playing a song the exact same way for 10years
Wem das nicht gefällt soll scheisen gehen!
Yeah, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that this version is shit
