Honest review after 3 days usage: I have been trying to get Alpha s for more than 2 yrs. Since the price was too high in my country I bought Sony xb-55ap earphone last year, hoping to buy alpha s this year 2021. I have used Sony earphones for more than 6months and alpha s for just 3 days now. I haven't changed the equalizer settings. Points- 1) hyperx had slightly more volume 2)Sony had better and more bass 3) Sony is worth the price -sony = 30$ -alpha s = 150$ 4) Both are built to last long 5) While playing Apex both were same (7.1 is nothing other than boosting the volume) Ask me if u HV any doubts *If anything different is observed I will update this*
Hey I just got the alpha s and the sound is kinda muffled for me and isn't clear compared to the cloud 2 is their any way to fix it it might be my settings or the headset
I have the Alpha S paired with Sound Blasterx G6. Both together make it a great gaming headset! I use this on the PS4, which the G6 supports game/chat mix with the new update firmware.
@BiG Wiz they are a pain the change out, I would just pick one that you like or only switch it up every once and a while just be careful you do have to stretch them to make them fit.
I thought the total opposite of the mic on USB vs 3.5 connection. The USB sounds fuzzy and muffled while the 3.5 sounds crisp and clear in this review.
@@pwd1134 I am on PC. I run a USB connection from the PC to my Astro MixAmp pro TR and connect the headset via 3.5 from the Mixamp to the my Cloud Alpha S's. But my comment was meant for what I personally thought it sounded like on your review in this video.
I saw your videos on the Alloy Elite 2 and Pulsefire Surge before buying them, yesterday I saw your videos comparing diferent Hyperx headsets and now this one is on the way. Love your content!
I actually find that the 7.1 helps me locating sources of sounds on WZ like footsteps and fire. I previously used the separate dongle with the PS Clouds and that sounded kinda odd. I do like the Cloud Alpha S better with the 7.1
So I messed around with the bass sliders after seeing your video because I was using the highest setting. I do like the middle setting, but did you know that you can open the largest hole halfway. This I found keeps the clarity while allowing the bass to hit while keeping the mids tight. I recommend you try this hidden setting.

hi i always watch all of your reviews. One thing i must say you always prefer 3.5 over those external soundcard they offer. Ya i agree virtual 7.1 is useless. But those usb sound card has more omph than our typical budget motherboard sound delivery. We need the external sound card in order to make the headphone louder, more detailed and wider soundstage. So ya, external sound card is a nice bonus for us pc users who does not own any external dac.
HyperX Headsets, Cloud 2 and Alpha S are the best bang for your buck. They come with 2 pairs of ear cups.... no other company does this... (I never searched other companies, so dont @ me) Steelseries and Astros make you buy another pair for $14.99 Those guys dont even make them come with the velour pleather cups instead they come with the Cloth cups which are more Open rather than Closed.
Although the earcups of the headphones are made of fabric, the edge that attaches to the base is made of faux leather, so when the head is moved (even a little), not to mention eating, etc., while wearing the headphones, they make noises, creaking , crunching, quite tedious. There is definitely someone who will not notice it, but personally it bothers me a lot. But the main problem is setting up the headset. It's not as easy as with the Hyperx Cloud II (my previous headphones) - the sound at the beginning of the Alpha S is quiet and flat. Then you need to install an additional program Hyperx NGENUITY, where you can at least adjust the volume, but it may not be enough. I've tried various additional equlaizers, but they work (or don't work) differently each time. In any case, using and customizing these headphones makes me regret the decision to buy them. It would be better to have bought the same but new Cloud II ... Don't believe me - search reddit ... there are all these problems for very many users ...
I was really confused about Cloud II, Alpha and Alpha S before ,but after watching i decided to buy them. . They cost me around 150 bucks ,idk why the price is 20 $ higher here in India. Anyway , Thanks for the review. keep it up.👍
Great review. I really like how these look. But the bass slider could of been better. At max setting could of had a bit more bass. But they do have a really clean look with the all black.
Hello, I have been with hyperx for a year or more and I have never used the 7.1 sound card since I do not play on pc but on xbox one now on xbox series x and how they sound without that I love it and something that people do not take into account is that both the cable and the microphone are removable and that detail is very difficult to see. Possibly there are better models and other brands but it is my second test and success with this brand and with the characteristics that you just mentioned I do not change them for anything, when these pass to a better life I will buy others of the same model without hesitation, greetings.
Another important detail is that in most of the headset we have a volume controller and those things either in the cable or in the helmet itself and that is one of the most damaged things no matter what brand it is. In the case of these hyperx, this is not just connecting and adjusting the audio where you use it without losing audio quality and I talk about them without mentioning the sound card that I have no idea whether or not it increases the sound quality they already have.
Please help me... Which should I get? Hyperx Cloud II or HyperX Cloud Alpha S ?? You said at the end you will do the comparisons, but you haven't and I need to know now cause I want to buy.

just bought it today after watching your review sometime back...love your energy & positivity. But i felt that the clamping force is bit high. Also the spare cotton /cloth pads I got are smaller in size :( i dont think these are exceptional...i mean they are good..but not great....for example......i also have old and cheap sony MD- XD 200 headphones (which dont have mic)...i also bought dolby atmos software...So sony headphones + Dolby atmos software made them sound awesome...and now after buying cloud alpha s....i didnt notice any change at all from Sony (and the sony ones sounded great).
Hey Techne, is the Corsair HS50 Pro a good option at around 85 AUD ~55 USD? Also I've thinking about the Razer Kraken X, going at the same price, which one is the better option?
Hey, would u recommend them over the cloud alpha? Sound quality for gaming stricly talking. Stereo mode only. I read the especifications and both have the same driver size and frequencies.
Hi did you ever experience a static sound coming from the cloud alpha s game output channel while using the sound card for a short duration? I just bought my new alpha s and it happens sometimes although it doesn’t happen while using the alpha s chat output channel. Is it some driver issue because it also doesn’t happen while I use the 3.5 mm jack directly. Love your reviews btw.
One thing I've gotta say is the plastic does not wear down, I've worn my original alphas more than not. I wore them pretty much everywhere since they're solid and comfortable. I can't say I'm exactly careful with them either.
I just bought these and I was wondering do you prefer the Pleather ear cuffs or the Cushion ones for sound quality? I have the pleather ones on now and debating if I should switch or not.

Thanks in advance!
I'm stuck between the original cloud Alphas or these. I hear from different reviews that the base sliders make it sound slightly worse but this is telling me these are great. So idk which ones are better
@@yasinbeyaz8919 yes, I've had it for about a month now and I have 0 complains on it. The "surround sound" is pretty useless and you don't need it but other than that I think it's worth it. The build on it is great (sturdy and good materials used), the comfort of it is great, the sound is great. I was very fortunate to get it for $40 but would be willing to pay more for it now that I have used it for a while. Hopefully this helps.
Just got the cloud alphas thinking I shoulda got these. Big fps player so the surround is a big deal and directional sound. I paid $54.99 when I can get the s ones for only $99 right now. Think it’s worth the upgrade.

But i felt that the clamping force is bit high. Also the spare cotton /cloth pads I got are smaller in size :(
i dont think these are exceptional...i mean they are good..but not great....for example......i also have old and cheap sony MD- XD 200 headphones (which dont have mic)...i also bought dolby atmos software...So sony headphones + Dolby atmos software made them sound awesome...and now after buying cloud alpha s....i didnt notice any change at all from Sony (and the sony ones sounded great).
please, talk about volume in ps4 always in your headsets videos :)
Friend, how different is this headset compared to a Astro40 or a Senhaiser, for example?
The hollow sound is to hear enemy foot steps better. I learned that from my turtle beach headsets.
HyperX Cloud Alpha S vs HyperX Cloud Flight S, which one?
What’s up Techne love your vids
No much, and thank you
One thing I've gotta say is the plastic does not wear down, I've worn my original alphas more than not. I wore them pretty much everywhere since they're solid and comfortable. I can't say I'm exactly careful with them either.
They good in console?
@@TJzWayyy they should work fine. I don't see why the wouldn't
I just bought these and I was wondering do you prefer the Pleather ear cuffs or the Cushion ones for sound quality? I have the pleather ones on now and debating if I should switch or not.
Thanks for review techne ❤️
thank you for watching
Love your videos man very informative & helpful although I’m in the market for some new headphones for my PS4 I mainly play call of duty warzone and I am looking for the best headphones when it comes to listening footsteps and positioning enemies. What’s your recommendation of best PS4 headphone.
You got yourself a new subscriber. Amazing review!!! greetings from Mexico.
:)
Hey! I have a question: I want to buy a new headset for PC for around €50, I thought the Arctis Steelseries 1 was a good buy (currently €51) but in your review of this headset you said that you might wanna look on to a different headset for the pc and that the Steelseries 1 is good for concole but not so much for PC, why is that? Thanks in advance!
The cloud alphas I have haven’t lived up to any of the expectations that I heard of and just today the right ear cuff has gone out
S or regular?
Regular, I have solved the problem to my right ear cuff tho took a lot of fiddling with the wire but it’s good again
I'm stuck between the original cloud Alphas or these. I hear from different reviews that the base sliders make it sound slightly worse but this is telling me these are great. So idk which ones are better
It's because these are meant for music.
Just bought this headset for a complete steal $40 on Amazon prime days, can't wait to test it out when it comes in!
you tested? can you tell me your experience
should I buy ?
@@yasinbeyaz8919 yes, I've had it for about a month now and I have 0 complains on it. The "surround sound" is pretty useless and you don't need it but other than that I think it's worth it. The build on it is great (sturdy and good materials used), the comfort of it is great, the sound is great. I was very fortunate to get it for $40 but would be willing to pay more for it now that I have used it for a while. Hopefully this helps.
@@mike-jg5vf thank you for your help I bought it
What do you think is better this headset or the generation 2 Astro a 10s idk what one to buy
Just got the cloud alphas thinking I shoulda got these. Big fps player so the surround is a big deal and directional sound. I paid $54.99 when I can get the s ones for only $99 right now. Think it’s worth the upgrade.
If you had to choose between the Astros A40 TR and these, which would you choose? There are almost no comparison reviews between these two so I am very comflicted.
