I have both imo, the kingstons are a lot nicer, the sound is a bit clearer making it easier to identify where enemies are in games like valorant, it feels more comfortable (again mine are broken in however it also feels lighter probably due to the metal plating) and overall if you have the kingston cloud 2's keep them because you won't be getting that same type of quality again

@@AssassinIsAfkI found that local sellers still sell the Kingston versions so I might just buy that again. Otherwise, I was thinking about spending a bit more for Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X
Great video. I missed HyperX went from Kingston to HP. Pity that you can get sample variety because of this. They should've discontinued the Cloud II if they were going to change something. Even if it's about saving on the build. I wonder how HP will run the brand next to Omen.
my old coolermaster mh751's were busted and I was looking to see if the cloud 2's are still as good or not a few months back, then I found a video from a UA-camr saying not to buy this hyperx cloud 2 and I saw that video he said the hp has skimped out and made the cloud 2's worse. and then I did a lot of research on my own and tested both from 2 different friend's of mine. and honestly I can't tell the difference in sound. except the sound there's no difference in comfort and price. then I just bought the new hp one's just yesterday because that is the only one available in my region. and today I see your video reiterating what I had in my mind. this just makes me feel good that I made the right choice. thanks for your review again
Yeah and your not the only one so what a lot people complain about? Placebo effect? Almost made me return HP ones but there is only few aesthetic difrences.
Biggest difference is in the sound card cord they provide compared to the old one my old cord compared to the new one has a lot more volume and just overall sounds better. Seems to me that the headsets themselves are basically the same
first of all great vid bro. I haven't watched one of your vids in a min and as always you're consistently pumping out perfect and timely vids. I find it so strange that they changed the build quality. it cant be much of a dif in price to make and even if it is hp def has more money than hyper x. just seems so wild to me to go that route.
Would prefer the plastic outside case over the rubber coating so much more. Over a few years of use (as these are tanks that last that long easily), rubber coating wears off, gets sticky & consequently messy.
I had a pair of HyperX cloud cores that had a rubber coating for 3 1/2 years and I took good care of them, even up until the end the rubber coating didn't wear down down or break so Idk how you care for your items but me personally wearing down was not an issue. The only reason they broke was because they got wrapped around my chair. The plastic on the new cloud 2 feels cheap and makes these headphones feel way less quality than the originals.
@@sp2icy468 I care for them well enough. I don't know which part of the world you live in, but the temperature, climate & dust levels play a big role in wearing off things. I don't know what the plastic on the HP Cloud 2s is like, but I would certainly prefer to not have the rubber coating. Have had the Cloud Core for 3 years & Cloud Alpha for another 3+.
All items that have that PTE rubberized coating all end up having a tack or stickiness to me. Mice, Keyboards, remote controls, all end up feeling tacky or sticky to me. It drives me crazy! I just ordered the Pwnage Magnesium mouse for this exact reason! I also keep making the mistake of using phone cases that end up with that tackiness or stickiness that ends up on my fingers then transfers to my mice that do not come with rubberized coatings. Both my HyperX honeycomb mice have a slight tackiness to them now because of my trash $50 case for my S22 Samsung phone! It was some body armor case from Walmart. I did some yard work, got some of the gas on my hands from refueling the weed trimmer. Had my phone outside with me blue-toothing to a boombox. Finished up the yard work. Washed my hands and sat down at my desk to get a League of Legends game in, and wouldn't ya know it....despite washing my hands with dish soap I made my mouse tacky on the sides!!!!! That rubberized compound should be banned! Wonder if it has endocrine disruptors being that it's made of some type of plastic... Rubbing alcohol, lacquer thinner, NOTHING works! Tried some baking soda and a toothbrush and it seemed to help some? Also put baby powder on my hands which also seemed to help but who wants to smell baby powder so strongly??? Now before we buy anything, I always check to see if they put a sticky rubber coating anywhere on it. If it has it, its a NO GO!

I have to say the wicked cushions makes up for the lack of swivel with hyperx headset, I wear glasses to and with the wicked cushions made them way more comfy with my glasses on.
If they cut the cost on certain things that aren’t really needed and passed on the savings, then all good. From what I could tell, it looks like there is less stitching on the headband of the new unit too
I like the build of the Cloud 2 wireless more, personally. I think it was the last update to them before being acquired by HP and the build, especially the forks into the earcups, are noticeably different. I never found the Cloud 2's to be too comfortable because of the lack of swivel, and the way my ears are most headsets that even have minor swivel actually swivel the wrong way for my ears, which is super unfortunate.
I cant decide which one should i get between cloud alpha wireless or cloud2 wired. i want the wireless so bad but they said wireless is bad in fps games? is it true?
My personal experience: I've had both and the build quality, sound, and the mic on the HP were slightly less across the board IN MY OPINION (tested plugged into a dedicated sound card, not the USB). The headband adjustment was really loose on the HP compared to my old Kingston's. The speakers and mic were a little "tinnier" on the HP . I ended up returning the HP pair and hunting down a new old stock Kingston pair on eBay to replace my original Kingston pair.
after buying HyperX Cloud II Wireless HP version the DTS one, after just 2 months of use side plastic cracked, while my Kingston Cloud II Wired is still intact after 5 years of use, so sad
I bought my hyperx in 2016 and always told my friends that it was the best headset you could buy. Although I don't remember the exact time, a friend of mine said, "Why are you exaggerating so much? It's not that good." I did some research on this and heard that HP bought the brand. This was one of those situations where I felt very lucky. Although it is said in this video that "there is almost no difference", the difference I heard was at a level that would double the price in my opinion. Even though it is a gaming headset, the difference you hear when listening to music is very different. Now I want to switch to a wireless headset but while I'm doing research, it doesn't make sense to pay tons of extra money to get the nearly same pleasure I got from cloud 2. I'm continuing with cloud 2. I think I'll keep going until it breaks and I'm extremely happy.
Metal earcup vs plastic earcup, different sound. If not re-tuned can actually change some of the frequency responses. Also maybe that's what people refers to when they say "plastic on the inside" is the fact that sound chamber on the earcup is now plastic instead of metal. The headphone this is based on which is Takstar Pro 80 iirc also has metal earcup. Making things easier for Kingston to just repackage the thing which HP probably didn't account for. But hey that's just me and my "audio crazy". If you don't care about sound and just want to listen to the newest Lofi or tik tok music compilation any of these will do just fine.
My experience: I usually use the headphones all day, every day (I even sleep in them most of the time, lol). The old Kingston one was a BEAST, it lasted more than 1.5 years even under my excessive usage. The new HP one I ordered literally 3 FRICKIN' MONTHS AGO have the plastic parts already broken to pieces. Now I'm just sitting here searching for new headphones...
So as a start they managed to find things to save on for production costs without changing the price ? That's already a problem. Same happened to Omen when HP took over ... I have a Cloud Flight S and the battery just died (new on on the way). But given HP's track record, I will not be getting anymore HyperX after these ... call me pessimistic but I have my experience with HP ...
They should be a new iteration if they're going to make this many changes. Like- you might not value the eggbag and the adapter much? But to remove that when there's all these reviews saying it's there? Yeah I'd be annoyed that I paid the same but got less- which obviously extends to the build materials changing so much
Update on the purchase, mostly used on weekends were the earcuffs are down, and the hinges on the bracket just cracked out of nowhere, never been dropped never been abused used only on weekends for about 8-9hrs, according to the shop that I bought it, i cant RMA this thing cause its physical damage
The audio quality was horrible on the new hyperx cloud 2, I ended up returning it. The only positive change is that they removed the rubber coating, which after a few years turned into a gluey sticky substance on my old cloud 2 (btw you can remove that coating with 90% alcohol).

I recieved the new keyboard and it even seemed improved from the last one, the keycaps are more resistant. I am still using this solid keyboard. They also replaced my clouds 2 on warranty with no fuss after the left audio stoped working. Never in my life I had such amazing customer support.
the problem I had with the Kingston cloud 2 and why I would never buy another like this is that attached cord, the one I had was perfect but that cord went bad and all you can do really then is replace it. Might be ok in a rotation but as a daily driver it just didn't work out. That said the hyper x wrist wrests by hp are the best wrist wrests in the game.
Received the Cloud 2’s as a gift. 3 days after the Best Buy return period I put them on and found the right side output was barely readable. How’s that for quality? Using the 7.1 the right side gets a bit more boost, but it’s still obvious they’re failing. Bummer since they were by far the best sounding commercial-grade headset I have ever owned (gaming since Commodore 64 days)
The only HP products that aren't garbage are their VR headsets and MAYBE SOME specific laptop models (the ones that don't overheat). Other than that, all other HP products are garbage.

How does a more modern headset lol Corsair HS65 compare to Cloud II ? They’re similar in price, are they just as comfortable, how does audio quality and mic quality compare? Which one would you choose?
You sure are happy to see the removal of the headphone bag cause those are kinda useful for someone who actually carries their headphones a lot of places. Well what do I know I don't have that "general consumer" mindset and I'm sad...
DUDE i thought i was going insane thinking the sounds quality dropped, Downloaded new drivers, reading forums posts. etc. until i realised that my old headset (exactly the same) was made from kingston and the new from HP. Now it made sense atleast. Im gonna reuse the old one just with the new ear bags. what a FAIL LOL never gonna buy hyperx again
I got the Cloud 2's because they had really good reviews. When plugged into my laptop via 3.5 mm jack it works perfect. However, when I connect it to the usb audio connector box, the mic gets bricked and does not pick up as much sound. You can barely hear it. It's a shame because the speakers worked flawlessly and were crisp but I use the mic on a daily basis, so it was a big issue. Had to return.
Why dont you test mic with sound card you will see how low it is, its a big problem with the microphone there is a solution but you should mention that.
my Cloud Alpha S died a couple of days ago and I bought a new one, at least it's still the same thing from back then just with a newer box like the one on your video.
Please do the Cloud Alphas now, I have seen countless videos comparing the Cloud II's but not one comaparing any other model like the cloud alpha. People need to know the kind of things HP is brewing up behind our backs.
My comment is probably gonna get lost, but after owning a pair of hyperX that died on me a couple months ago, i got a cloud 2 from HP without knowing and the sound difference was insane, you dont know where the footstep come from, maybe above, maybe below, not too sure where, for me this headset died
I don't think bro I got the HP Cloud II and There was only a slight minor difference in the sound. I was still able to know the location of the enemies by hearing the footsteps.
@@ragnnohabidk I returned them already but personally the sound quality was great and I definitely could tell where the footsteps were coming from lol. I played about 13 hours
I,ve got both old hyperx cloud flight bought in 2018 and a new ones bought a week ago. There're noticeable differences for bad. The new ones have a narrower headband and a harder cushion on top. These changes made the new ones more uncomfortables because they press harder on ears and make a pressure point on the top of the head that is painfull after minutes of use. The sound has change too, the new ones are more brilliant, with excesive highs sometimes which make sibillant sounds. A pity. If you have an excellent and mighty product dont change it!
Funny enough my Hyper X Cloud Alpha S is the Kingston version but the cord looks more like the shorter HP version. And I double checked, mine has "KINGSTON" all over it... Maybe Kingston changed stuff before selling to HP.
Hey techne, some people say hs80 USB has bad audio quality. I'm kinda getting unmotivated by these nitpicky comments, can you do comparison hs80usb and nova 3 USB or something with same level same price? I'm want to buy hs80usb but I'm so concerned about sound quality
i bought the Hyperx Cloud II for my Xbox.. i actually did my own "testing" and bought 4 wired headsets, Razer Ultralight, Hyperx Cloud II, Steele Series 3, and Logitech Pro.. Logitech felt, looked, good ,the best overall, but, the 7.1 surround, volume control didnt work.. period.. nothing i did made a difference.. Razer felt cheap.. sound was at best, mediocre, comfort was average, not up to the other Razers ( more expensive yes, ) i have.. Steele Series 3-- sound was great, but... .. comfort was good, mic was ok, nothing great nothing bad, but not my fave, i dont have an issue with Faux leather on my Razers.. these made my ears sweaty in minutes... wow..very uncomfortable and quickly... HyperX--they looked good, felt good.. microphone was dead on arrival.. unplugged, replugged.. nothing. sound was good for what little i bothered. sent ALL FOUR BACK.. none worth keeping.. so, yea, moved up to the Steele Series Nova Pro Wired for Xbox.. and see how they do..
The built qualiy on the new ones is HORRIBLE..i have them for 1 year now and the plastic that holds the extendable part broke and now i have to use tape on them
was waiting for this video. well done on the review. but i still think removing the carrying bag from the box and using cheaper materials is lame . and honestly i had very high expectations for the cloud 3 but it just turns out to be worse than the 2's which is such a questionable decision by Hp . i wish they introduced like a planar magnetic driver or something which would have been a huge upgrade instead they used the same driver and tuned it worse .
The only HP products that aren't garbage are their VR headsets and MAYBE SOME specific laptop models (the ones that don't overheat). Other than that, all other HP products are garbage.
wait what.. I have used both cloud 2's. the old ones are significantly more Bassy and crisp. the new ones are muffled and has some auditorium feel to it This has to be because they removed the foam that used to be behind the sound drivers. i hated the new cloud 2 but luckily in an unrelated RMA, i got the Kingston one as a replacement.
I have a cloud 3 and I think the sound is fine, they are comfortable but I've never had cloud 1 or 2, the biggest issue is its using a usb and windows has no volume boost for the mic I had to use another tool, they need to fix windows to add a boost to it its way waaay too quiet by default.
Yes, yes they did. Hyper Alpha Pro Wireless have had terrible audio issues, and software issues, for pretty much everyone. Hyper X said they would fix it multiple times, and then ghosted everyone. Luckily I was able to return mine to Amazon.
Do not buy Hyper X II now. I've sworn by them for a long time and have had two pairs that lasted me ages. I got one of the HP ones for my partner because she wanted some good quality headsets. They fell apart so quickly. The plastic ends of the headband cracked, the metal slides came out of the tracks, the earcups flaked horribly and we had to replace them with something else after about a year because they had degraded so badly that we couldn't stretch them any further for usage.
Yes for sure, I bought Hyper X wired Headset the quality was 6 out of 10 service was excellent, the packaging was 10 out 10 very nice makes you think that the quality of the product was very good, so my old set was needing a upgrade so i ordered a new Hyper X Cloud II wireless, When it came i opened the box and nearly had a heart attack no packaging just a a plain box not even a spare sponges for the ear just a plain box with a plastic covering. the sound is not bad but it even looks cheaper than the cheapest headset you can buy. I was very disappointed in the product, I am pretty sure i will never buy this product again.

Do you know if Alpha S is different from old and 2022? Especially interested in the microphone,
Did they change the software of the headset as well? Because it wasn't very good to work with.
Other than that, all other HP products are garbage.
will come straight can i go hyperx cloud 2 at this time for 9k ??
Is it the same for the hyper x cloud alpha S (is there 2 version)?. If that’s the case can I find a king stone version of this headset?
Hi there hope you are doing well, in your opinion how good or bad are the hyperx cloud stinger core wireless gaming headset for Xbox for $64.99
Techne I recommend you try the Edifier G5000, they are incredible! you will love them as far as sound is concerned
today i learned that my cloud 2 is made by Kingstone and now im happy :}
Hey should I go for Cloud III's for 98 euros?
DID YOU GET THIS ?
@@mimarfatihcan yes
@@PincKen you like it? Can you suggest me?
@@mimarfatihcan I like it, I got a black model it looks very nice in real life, mic sounds amazing, the cups are a little bigger and they are very comfortable. the only thing is that it has less bass than the cloud II's I had
@@PincKen so its worth it? i really looking for headset and cloud 3 is in my list
Had the old ones for like 6 years, the rubber part got absolutely messy and sticky, and it's SUPER hard to clean, just bought the new ones and so far so good
Do you notice anything new and different with the sound on the new ones from the olds ones ?
@@Killuminati_626 Not really, sounds bout the same!
does anyone know where i can purchase kingstons version?
Man, the new Cloud 2 (I do not test) looks ( by your description) exactly like my Cloud core, exactly the same. It lacks the core2 crisp and full plastic. I use cloud core and old cloud 2 for years so i can tell what you described the new cloud 2 is spit image of core
Is Hyperx cloud alpha changed too? And how to tell a difference between kingston and hp
I have both and I confirm that they are exactly the same
I have the HP version of the cloud 2 wireless does it have the same sound as the kingston ones? Or thr difference is just the 7.1 and dts x feature
Yup. I swore off HyperX this year. Had a great relationship with Mark as a reviewer. After HP took over they went to shit in a hurry.
Awesome video. Been a bit since Ive been able to sit down to watch. You have def been working on them tats. Looks sick bro.
can you try again please ! pls go to 4:31 look inside earcup it has soft sponge it can make you look trough to drivers but look in the new one is sooo thick thats why you could not hear that smalll difference in sound . can you please try to swap them and put old one to new one and try vise versa and make new video please! because im going to buy newone and its looks like its not the same xD .
this guy tested the sound on these headsets by switching to his pistol in the game.... wow. 👏👏👏
I cant decide which one should i get between cloud alpha wireless or cloud2 wired. i want the wireless so bad but they said wireless is bad in fps games? is it true?
How does a more modern headset lol Corsair HS65 compare to Cloud II ? They’re similar in price, are they just as comfortable, how does audio quality and mic quality compare? Which one would you choose?
hi @The Techne can u make a video about darmoshark m3 thx
Burn in, pads, and production variation
Great video 👌🏻
my Cloud Alpha S died a couple of days ago and I bought a new one, at least it's still the same thing from back then just with a newer box like the one on your video.
And the quality of the microphone remains as bad?
Hello techne i want ask you i bought razer barracuda x i am pc player when i play mw2 ir red2 the sound is soo bad did yo know how can i fix it
prefer 100% the old for the mic the confort ( the new like plastic not leather) and the sound is better
Whats about Cloud II Wireless, HP x Kingston, its has any difference of sound? Thanks
Yes there's a noticeable difference. The HP version sounds thin and tinny compared to Kingston, major downgrade in every way.
Are these or alphas good on xbox series x? Im looking for the best wired xbox series x controller. Please help ive searched everywhere
Please do the Cloud Alphas now, I have seen countless videos comparing the Cloud II's but not one comaparing any other model like the cloud alpha. People need to know the kind of things HP is brewing up behind our backs.
it's the same
My comment is probably gonna get lost, but after owning a pair of hyperX that died on me a couple months ago, i got a cloud 2 from HP without knowing and the sound difference was insane, you dont know where the footstep come from, maybe above, maybe below, not too sure where, for me this headset died
I don't think bro I got the HP Cloud II and There was only a slight minor difference in the sound. I was still able to know the location of the enemies by hearing the footsteps.
@@BOT-pl5ng Then you're either lying or coping over a bad purchase.
@@ragnnohabidk I returned them already but personally the sound quality was great and I definitely could tell where the footsteps were coming from lol. I played about 13 hours
@@ragnnohab Whatever you say I can't do anything to prove you and it's been 4 months and I am enjoying them.
Is that why they discontinued Hyperx flight S? Shame. They were awesome and my olds one just died on me and was hoping to buy another. Rip
Hey techne, some people say hs80 USB has bad audio quality. I'm kinda getting unmotivated by these nitpicky comments, can you do comparison hs80usb and nova 3 USB or something with same level same price? I'm want to buy hs80usb but I'm so concerned about sound quality
My HyperX II died in less than 30 days.
i bought the Hyperx Cloud II for my Xbox.. i actually did my own "testing" and bought 4 wired headsets, Razer Ultralight, Hyperx Cloud II, Steele Series 3, and Logitech Pro..
Ohh.. so it is now HP. Not aware of that. So that's why newer dts cloud ii wireless is a bit worst than the older 7.1 version
Does it have the same sound? Or the difference is just the 7.1 and dts x
The built qualiy on the new ones is HORRIBLE..i have them for 1 year now and the plastic that holds the extendable part broke and now i have to use tape on them
Trust me you don't want that matte plastic over time that stuff gets sticky and really gross. So I think the change in plastics is better imo.
That matte finish that the original one got melts down and becomes so sticky. I think that's enough to give the HP version the W.
I'll keep that in mind next time I need a pair of headphones to microwave.
was waiting for this video. well done on the review. but i still think removing the carrying bag from the box and using cheaper materials is lame . and honestly i had very high expectations for the cloud 3 but it just turns out to be worse than the 2's which is such a questionable decision by Hp . i wish they introduced like a planar magnetic driver or something which would have been a huge upgrade instead they used the same driver and tuned it worse .
The only HP products that aren't garbage are their VR headsets and MAYBE SOME specific laptop models (the ones that don't overheat).
Other than that, all other HP products are garbage.
@@PSYCHOV3N0Mand their omen monitors are pretty good
I always thought it is OEM by Takstar since it looks so much like one of their old headphone design.. HI2050...
I have a 10 year-ish old pair of Cloud II's. The test of time did not treat them well. That rubberized coating has broken down to a sticky mess.
wait what..
I have used both cloud 2's. the old ones are significantly more Bassy and crisp. the new ones are muffled and has some auditorium feel to it
This has to be because they removed the foam that used to be behind the sound drivers.
i hated the new cloud 2 but luckily in an unrelated RMA, i got the Kingston one as a replacement.
Really want cloud IIIs for the better microphone… but worried about the sound quality differences :(
I have a cloud 3 and I think the sound is fine, they are comfortable but I've never had cloud 1 or 2, the biggest issue is its using a usb and windows has no volume boost for the mic I had to use another tool, they need to fix windows to add a boost to it its way waaay too quiet by default.
You lose nearly all the bass the Kingston IIs have with the IIIs
Mic's good on the old one.
Yes, yes they did. Hyper Alpha Pro Wireless have had terrible audio issues, and software issues, for pretty much everyone. Hyper X said they would fix it multiple times, and then ghosted everyone. Luckily I was able to return mine to Amazon.
New mic sounds better, at least from the sample in this video.
Cant even get a replacement dongle for my Cloud Flights.. $200 paperweight.
show us your gaming pc please!
I never use HyperX Cloud 2 but i think i will try HyperX Cloud 3 because its newer
wow what a good reason
Kingston is kingston and hyperx isnt hyperx without that Kingston tm on your right side of headphones
Aren't the HyperX made by Beyerdynamic? I've tried a pair once and the way they are made and brightness made me think of a Beyerdynamic product
No.
@@garethg8226 then they blatantly stole the design of the headband and can-clamp 😅
The HyperX Clouds are a rebranded Takstar Pro 80
@@calopteryx76 Ah well, the way the ear cup holds to the headband looks a lot like Beyers design. Better well stolen than poorly invented I guess
@@calopteryx76 which are themselves a clone of DT770
Yes, they killed hyperx cloud
Only the wired are ok but the old one was better
Do not buy Hyper X II now. I've sworn by them for a long time and have had two pairs that lasted me ages. I got one of the HP ones for my partner because she wanted some good quality headsets. They fell apart so quickly. The plastic ends of the headband cracked, the metal slides came out of the tracks, the earcups flaked horribly and we had to replace them with something else after about a year because they had degraded so badly that we couldn't stretch them any further for usage.
lol what mine are still ok

Epos H6 VS Cloud 2? and are you still maining the H6? @TheTechne
HP had a bad reputation in electronic world, its just they got the money.😢
