    If your skin gets "flaky" around your eyes, it is "usually" a sure sign you are experiencing an allergy related to the product you are using around your eyes. So stop the product you are using for a while (long while). It is not because your skin is just dry. To make it better, I found that putting a "light" refreshing eye cream, hypo allergenic, will help. Good advice is to consult with your pharmacist, they can advise you. If it persists and there is a little bit of swelling too, a tiny bit of cortisone cream (yes, just a tiny bit) applied (0,1%) where it is dry and swollen will speed up the healing. But then, if you are allergic to cortisone, do not use that of course. Best is to consult a pharmacist or dermatologist or doctor.

      This is so informative!
      I had an allergic reaction to a Charlotte tilbury under eye cream, woke up with swollen under eyes which lasted 3 days. The skin under my eyes then went on to get very sore, red and flaky for around a week....
      0.1 cortisone cream once a day really sped up the healing process however the darkness of my under-eyes has gone back to square one since the allergic reaction :(

    FINALLY SOMEONE WHO MENTIONED MILIA!!! I've had milia on my lower eyelids and my cheekbones ever since i was a baby and as i got older and more into makeup and skincare ive developed even more : (( I've had many of them extracted every now and then, but somehow they keep coming back, even in CLUMPS. i wish i was able to pinpoint what exactly it was that started it to begin with, but ive been using a tretinoin gel (0.05%) from my dermatologist and all that ive seen happen is my skin get incredibly red, dry, and flaky. she said that's supposed to happen, and that eventually i should be able to pick or scratch the milia beads out but honestly it can hurt so much that i have to take weeks or months off of using the gel to help me skin heal up. is there anything i could do rather than applying this gel or should i just tough it out until i see better results?

Your videos, years from now, show how clear your skin is and without makeup on. It proves how healthily your skin matures. I'd love you to dig into more of that. Warm olive, sweet almond, avocado.... Pick a good oil. 1/3 cup of the oil, 2 heaping spoonful of fresh coffee grounds. Stir in grounds into warm/hot oil. Let sit for 3-4 days ( stir ). Strain out grounds add a GOOD tsp vit E oil, 2 tbsp glycerin and 2 tbsp castor oil. Stir and massage into under eye . You can rinse of after 15-30 min or just keep on if the coffee smell bothers you. This amount will last you forever and products can be found at Walmart and cheap to make. MAKE SURE YOU ADD THE VIT E TO ROOM TEMP OIL OR YOU WILL DESTROY THE BENIFITS.
      This can be stored in bathroom or wherever. No preservative needed.
      For added benifit add some rosehip oil .

    I have been using rosehip oil for about a year, but notice the first little bit of creasing under the eye on the left (the sun must be affecting thar side when I drive). I am going to be giving a more moisturizing and skin treating formula a try, on the off chance it can halt or reverse this. CeraVe is the easiest for me to obtain, so I will give it a try. I am getting some prescription sunglasses too. 😉

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  8 років тому +3

      Cerave is good, it is also very lightweight. Try it out and see if you might need something a little more hydrating.

    • @carolsmith8719
      @carolsmith8719 8 років тому +1

    Hi 👋. I'm a new subscriber. This is so informative. I have been using the Dr. Gross eye serum for a while and I love it. I've recently been curious about Asian skincare. My good friend is from Japan. She's in her mid-40s and looks like she's in her late 20s/early 30s. She doesn't have a structured skincare regimen but attributes her skin health to genetics, sunscreen, diet and exercise. I'm 38 years old and my skin is in good balance. I've been into skincare for the last few years but I've been buying very high end products to maintain my results. It's refreshing to have someone review/demo quality, affordable products. I'm so appreciative of your channel. I will definitely be trying some of your Asian skincare recommendations this year.

I'm currently using only the products from the Ordinary line just to see how well the products do for me. So far, it's not great but there are changes in my skin that show a positive result. One question...if one is already using a moisturizing eye serum why do we need to top it with a multi-ingredient eye-moisturizer? Once that skin has been saturated what good will a multi-ingredient moisturizer do? I would tend to think just additional moisture that the serum may not fulfil would seal and protect the serum and epidermal layer, no? I am beginning to experience very fine line around my own eyes now and loss of elasticity. I am very much wanting to address the issues as efficiently as I may...enter YOU (giggle) who is helping me sort through an enormity of products. If you have any additional ideas or notions floating about in your thoughts, I'd love to hear it. Thank you again for your laborious efforts.

    Just joined your channel as a senior 72 year old have problems around nose and chin dryness make up settling in. Been using rose hip, vitamin b serum and suggested sweet almond oil. Also Little Piet loves IASO BB cream? My only concern is that many of retirees can't spend the cost of a lot of these products, when I worked and young I loved Shesido, can you do something cost friendly.

      The Hada Labo hyaluronic lotion she mentions on a the moisturizers video is very hydrating and super reasonable considering how well it works. It can be obtained online for about $12-15 USD online. I hope this helps.

    Not trying to offend here but Ive noticed a lot of people who talk about beauty products claim a lot of things but I am never sure if anyone has even read the studies conducted on these products or understand the claims. It's apparent whatever you've been doing works for you since you have great skin, but I am just realizing a lot of people are just reiterating the info from the companies? I enjoyed your video and will give the products a try just for the hell of it .

      I dont trust in any cream, and less if they are more expensive, I would only give ve a chance to the roll on which may work due the physical touch, I got brown spots in my face long time ago, my dermatologist think that it was probably a photo reaction cause by a sunscreen, which was recommended by a doctor.

    Your video is always so impressive and helpful. Finding a good eye cream for me is the hardest thing in the world as my eyes are so dry and sensitive/picky. I am quite happy if an eye cream can keep them comfortably for the day more than getting good results. I have tried so many brands in the past and so far one of the eye cream brand that can really keep my eyes comfortable is Algenist.

      +Edmond Lam Thank you so much Edmond! That's pretty much all I expect too, definitely not to see drastic changes overnight like a lot of creams claim to do. I love the algenist products so much yet somehow have never gotten around to their eye creams. Thank you for the suggestion!

    Tried Philosophy Anti-Wrinkle Miracle Worker, and I feel like it didn't do anything at all. I thought it would be great because this line has been raved, and it has retinoid, but it was useless. I find more success with Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye cream. I always wake up feeling so fresh around the eyes.

    Dry eye area here! Currently using Sulwhasoo cream/dry oil at night, Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate during day...it does plump and smoothes the area nicely for concealer (the dimethicone?). Ugh, Lifestyle...if only there was a serum for that. Looking extra glowy, beautiful!! ✨🙌🏻

    Thank you soooooo much for another great round-up of products! I have always dealt with milia and it's terrible. Lol I think I do want to try the Ferulic and Retinol Eye Serum. As for dark undereyes, vitamin C serum have always been amazing. Like the Ole Henriksen Youth Activating Oil and the Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Brightening Serum. I use the Camu Camu Moisturizer on and off and it works well for my acne spots and red scarring.

      +Sasha GB You're welcome! Yes, I had one huge pimple sized millia which took 4 months to get the hell off my face. You may be able to get away with just using the serum without anything else and that could help with the milia situation!

    After Etude's Moistfull Collagen eye cream gave me milia problems, I switched to Curél(a Japanese brand)'s Moisture Eye Zone Essence and I love it! It's a gel-type essence that's not creamy at all, but keeps the eye area so hydrated (I can literally feel the moisture still remaining in the morning). :)

    So I am in the market for a good eye cream. I noticed that there is Cetyl Alcohol and Cetearyl Alcohol in the CeraVe Anti-Aging Eye Repair Cream. I have been told before to never purchase a product that has alcohol in it because it is damaging to the skin. Are these types of alcohol okay for your skin because I see them in a lot of products?

    Glad I found your channel, I'm learning a lot! All my siblings have pretty oily eyes which has made most eye makeup a pain. I'm my mother's clone, but she's had to get her eyelids surgically lifted (she vision field was drastically reduced before she agreed to it) so I'm trying to see what I can do to delay that and take good care of my skin. Once I have the money I'd love to try the drunk elephant, and see if the sunscreen works for me.
    Thank you for a wonderfully entertaining and informative channel!

    Love this video! I've recently been taking my anti-aging eye care more seriously, as well. A lady's gotta keep her eyes smooth! I suffer from pretty dark under eye circles (some of which is genetic and some from poor sleeping choices...I'm a night owl) but I've been using a Korean eye essence that I really love. It's the Whamisa Organic Flowers Eye Essence. So light, absorbs really smoothly, and actually does seem to be brightening up my circles. 😄

    I agree with you renee on the shiseido benefiance however I use the serum cream version it's in a gold cylindrical pump I just find its less heavy great for the day also but here I believe it sells over 100 dollars Australian. For everyday hydration I'm liking the roadshop korean brands that do a collagen type it's inexpensive. I have also enjoyed a brand called mirenesse they do a stem cell eye serum. I know sephora have started stocking mirenesse however I'm not sure if you can get it in the US it's an Australian brand. i love retinol but i am rather sensitive to it. History of whoo is goegeous but i got some millea as it is very heavy. Sulwhasoo is fantastic as you said really want to try belif!!... thanks for your vid! you look gorgeous as always xx

    I just finished an eye cream with retinol from Dr. Dennis Gross, I didn't really notice the difference and I didn't like that it had silicone. I think that skin care items should be less silicony In the morning I use Skin Owl's Eye+ which has beautiful cucumber smell and is supposed to help with puffiness, I don't mind it, I like slightlycooling sensation, however, sometimes it burns (doesn't make any sense burning sensation fron cucumber). And now at nights I use Skyn Iceland eye cream (not a stick), don't know much about, but it has nice slightlywhipped texture and no scent.
    I really enjoy your videos, new sub here!

      +Aristaifly Hi there! I liked the skyn iceland eye cream, was a nice moisturizing texture. Been a while since I used it. I think that the Dr. Dennis Gross eye serum is much more effective and better than the eye cream. Also, anything that causes the skin around your eyes to burn is NOT good!
