For years UA-cam dermatologists said don't bother with eye creams. However, over the past 6 months they're recommending them. I just buffer my regular retinol with moisturizer around my eyes. No irritation and no need to spend another $40 on another product.
@oumaouma591 I put moisturizer on around my eyes first, and then I put a little retinol serum on afterwards. I'm not an expert, it's just works for me and saves me buying another product.
I use my prescription retinoid around my eyes before the moisturizer. So far no irritation but I am not sure if it’s working? I am 45 years old and I use moisturizer after it and then 20 minutes later I put aquaphor around my eyes too.
I just turned 68. Today I ordered your recommended Avene RetrinAL Eye Cream. I expected it to be more expensive than it was. 15% off coupon plus free shipping and two free samples! Can’t wait to receive. Thank you.
Hear me out..I randomly bought a completely safe/sealed bottle of retinol serum from dollar tree for $1.25…it’s amazing and I’ve seen results with it! I thought I was crazy but I have been reading on it ever since and people LOVE it!! It’s not too strong so I can use it all over my face and under my eyes. My crows feet have truly gotten noticeably better within the first couple weeks! I love it! I have used lots of expensive, fancy products and I can’t believe how well this dollar tree find works! GET IT!!
for those of you with periocular dermatitis- I was so scared to ever use another active ingredient anywhere near my eyes. mine was persistent and unresponsive to anything but zero treatment for months (it took 5 month to go away and still not totally gone under my mouth.) well now i am on 3 months avene retrinal eye cream and i am really seeing the results and miraculously no dermatitis relapse so far!! i am actually not sensitive to this at all. i would recommend just putting it above and below the eye and staying away from right on the lash line or the outer corner where it can sit in the lines
Right now, my favorite eye cream is the Timeless Hydrating Eye cream with Hyaluronic Acid and Matrixyle 3000. It is so soothing and cooling. I typically use it at night, because it is a bit thicker. What I love best is that it can be safely used on the eyelids as well. I have super sensitive skin, and this works well without irritation. Thanks for all your wonderful videos! I've tried and loved many of the products you've discussed and you helped me establish a great skin care routine for my 65 yr old skin.
Hey folks, I'd like to make a recommendation. I have very sensitive skin and I am loving the Garnier Retinol Berry. It took a couple of months for me to work up to using it every day but I really love it. It's recommended for the eye area as well but I haven't worked up to that yet! But give it a try, it's super budget friendly :)
I’m loving the Lather Australian Plum Eye Crème. This will fall into the non-retinoid, vitamin C, moisturizing, eye cream category. The description on the website says that it also diminishes fine lines and wrinkles, but I’m not seeing how. The ingredients seem to be more on the brightening moisturizing side not anti-aging, but I notice immediate brightening improvement as soon as I used it. It’s also middle of the road expense wise at $35.
Thank you for this video! Could u do a video on OraLift? Before and after pictures show that it improves the look of bags /troughs under eyes along with naso labial folds
In this video you mention alternating the Avene Retinal Eye with the Tula Pro-ferm Overnight Complex. In the Spring/early summer, you changed up your skincare routine replacing C with bakuchiol. My question is: what's the best way to change your routine whether it's your entire routine or alternating or switching products for one specific concern, e.g. eye treatment? Or does it even matter? You probably already have a video on this; if so could you just point me to it? Love your channel - you do an excellent job 💯

Thank you for this! I love the RentinAL Avene one, and their Physiolift. I have mild rosacea and can tolerate both. I have seen wonderful results with them. Going to check out your others.
Thank you for that. That first product you mentioned sounds exciting. I may try out once the product I use runs out. Question though, and have tried to get answers but I just don’t; I use eye serum, don’t they penetrate deeper into skin than creams? Isn’t there a better benefit in serums? My eye concerns are lines under eyes (anti aging…etc) So that product you mentioned, though eye cream sounds intriguing. Thanks you and all who can give input.
Hi Dr, I used neutrogena wrinkle repair eye cream, and got lots of new wrinkles around the eyes a week after. I googled and saw similar comments. Should I try other brands or stop using retinol? Thanks
You are so amazingly informative thank you so much! I would love to know more about one of the last points you made, where you mention to pair the products correctly on our routine!
same!! id love to know more about pairing products to get the most out of them, aswell as how to get ALL the necessary ingredients throughout the week, & if its ok to switch ur products, every other day. ex, use vit C/niacinamide/squalane mon, wed, fri & retinol,ceramides/peptides Tue,thur, sat
In australia I just found the physiolift. But was 45 dollars so not bad and I really loved the texture like you said! Thank you always for your videos! I love 💕

Hi Dr Locke, I've just found this video and, unfortunately, I am too late to get the deep discount but, I just ordered the TULA eye cream from Sephora, while they are having their semi-annual sale. I am 61 an have suddenly noticed wrinkling skin under my eyes (lack of sleep is to blame, I know). I have never used retinol products and I had blepharitis in 2007, and I have a few milia near my eyelids. Therefore, I thought the TULA would be best to start out a good de-wrinkling treatment for me. Thank you very much for your recommendations. Take care ☺
Would you recommend for mature skin? I’m 60 and noticing deep lines around my eyes are forming as well as on my forehead. If not this product what would you recommend? Most videos don’t target the demographic of 55+. Would be helpful if there were.
I just wanted to tell you that I have been fine tuning my skin care and am trying to weed out my products I don’t need . You had a video on the 3 must have , retinoids , facial acids, and vitamin c. I have been using this 3 step method for 6 weeks now , (and I do some cycling on and off with other serums to switch it up) .. my skin is smooth , soft , the uneven tone and blotches are gone , and I’m never with dehydrated dull skin ( I live in the dakotas and winters are brutal ) I know it’s working because my daughter got in my car yesterday and she said “ mom ! ( she startled me ) seriously , what has happened to your skin , most women in their 50’s just let their skin go , but you have discovered the fountain of youth ) I will add also , I have been using trenoitin for the last year also , but I really needed the facial acids and a good stable vitamin C serum to polish and brighten my skin to the next level . Thank you for your advice and product reviews .
Do you use them morning and night? Can you alternate the budget one from first category with budget one from second category. Thinking maybe won’t have irritation. Just wondering how often to use, since I moisturize 2x a day. Love all the expertise you share in simple organized form.💜☺️
Thanks!! All my purchases are thanks to your advice! Would I use a retinal cream, as the new Naturium retinaldehyde cream serum 0.05%, on my eyes area? What do you think about the retinal eye of beauty of Joseon? ❤❤❤
Dr Dray has reviewed the BOJ one. Most derms don't recommend using face retinols on the eye area (the naturium product recommends avoiding the eye area).
Maren, can you tell me if there is anything you would recommend for the eye lid? My lids are very crepey with the lid sitting on my eye lashes. Does physiolift work on this as well? Thanks for all the info!
Can I use tretinoin, kojic acid soap, and the ordinary BHA AHA peeling solution in the same week? I plan to use tretinoin a few times a week and the ordinary once a week, the kojic acid soap would be anytime im using neither tret or the ordinary. I just have all these products and I was wondering if it's okay to use them together.
The Avene is out of stock. I went to your link and the Avene is $52 and nothing about 30% off or free shipping. Now l went there again and it says it is discontinued. I am 70 years old. Will these eye creams benefit me. The versed one says 35 to 64 l believe. My eyes underneath aren’t puffy. They are more hallowed.
Hi, budget dermatologist..... please advise me on what to use in my face.... lately my face is filled with chicken type skin, especially lower chin feels bumpy patches which don't go off.
So you say the first one is “strong” does that mean someone could breakout? Also switching back and forth could it create reaction? Also do ages on any of these matter? (I’m 35)
Dr what if you have used from high end eye cream to drugstore for puffy eyes & the puffiness still looks the same - what’s the next step if any or are there devices that can help? Desperate Puffy Eyes 😭
If you don't have allergies and OTC products don't work, some doctors might recommend some procedure. There are some eye doctors who have videos like Dr. Rupa Wong and Doctor Eye Health. There are cosmetic surgeons like dramirkaram and dr amiya prasad who have videos. I think Doctorly and Dr Dray have videos on dark circles/procedures and the like.
I am 78 and have no wrinkles under my eyes, however, about a year or so ago noticed puffiness. It just gets worse. I use eye creams with NO results. Wondering now if it's something medical. 🤔 🤷♀️
All the products should have directions either on the packaging or the brand site. The retinol/retinal are generally for night use. The Burt's Bees can be used day or night since it's bakuchiol the same with the vit c ones. Any of the ones being used during the day should be followed up with sunscreen.
Kim K A few ideas you may want to try: Don’t literally throw away your not terribly cheap RetrinAL under eye cream from Avene! Use it on your face instead, neck and/or décolleté or tops of hands, elbows or top of the knees where wrinkles/crepey skin can show up. You can always repurpose products that are too strong for the more delicate areas. At worst mix it in with some body lotion like Eucerin and use on your whole body for benefits.
I have physiolift eyes and I use it to prevent wrinkles. Apparently I have very strong skin and I use it every day without any problem but, is it correct to use it everyday???
The avene retrinal and physio lift did nothing for me. I’m getting much better results with the Olay retinol max eye cream which is conveniently about half the price. The Olay straight away started to cause slight stinging and peeling in the under eye area, a sure sign that the retinoid is effective. Personally, I feel retinaldehyde is overrated and retinol is, overall, a better retinoid. It’s also possible that the Olay is better formulated and therefore more effective 🤷🏻♀️
@@oliviad5474 of course, skin irritation is a common side effect of retinoids. In fact, it is thought that it is this irritation that is partly responsible for the improvement of photoaging seen in retinoid users. Personally, jar packaging doesn’t bother me. I’m not sure other types of packaging are any better as only very few are truly air-tight. Products have preservatives for a reason and that is to prevent growth of micro-organisms, whether they are exposed to air or not.
Hi! I am an esthetician. I want to be able to explain accurately to my clients about how certain ingredients work. With THD VIT C, is this more gentle for sensitive skin? Also, since this converts to L-ascorbic acid, does this mean this is most potent form of C?
I must be unusual, because I use my prescription tretinoin all around my eyes with no problem. I even have normal-to-dry skin, so it isn’t about natural skin oils buffering it.
Nope…I used to do the same, for 20 years. But….it depends on the percentage, the specific formulation of that prescription…and the state of your skin at the time. If any of these factors change, be cognizant that sensitivity can arise. If your skin barrier is compromised for any reason, that may change your sensitivity as well. One major contributing factor can be, the dreaded MENOPAUSE….which is what happened to me😊.
@@tquirkyt7118 , I’m past menopause. @Purple Sky , I’m only at 0.07% , but when this batch is finished, I have 0.09% ready to go. I’ll be careful to start, but I don’t have especially sensitive skin.
@@tquirkyt7118 you’re right! So many factors to consider. Skin care is so specific to each person. You also have to have realistic expectations as well as being consistent. I have been using the Avene for eyes and do like it. I was just wondering about stronger options. Thank you. 😊
@@JeanieDI do the same Jeanie except I make an “eye cream” by mixing Cerave pm lotion with a wee bit of retin-a. Dr. Davin Lim said it’s an effective eye cream as he’s not a fan of creams exclusively for the eyes. I also alternate with glycolic acid lotion/serum. 😬
Hello 👋🏽 My name is Ashley! I’m a new subscriber. I’m addicted to watching your videos and they are VERY, VERY helpful! I have a quick question/request…I’m 38 years old and have Very DRY skin. Iv always gotten out of the shower (Not a hot shower) and put lotion or body butter on right away and I feel like an hour later my skin is going to crack. So Iv been thinking that maybe it’s my body wash. Can you recommend a hydrating body wash that doesn’t smell like a strong perfume? Or even unscented would be fine. I would greatly appreciate your recommendation. Also, what do you recommend putting on Dry skin after a shower? Preferably not an oil. Thank you!!! 😊
I am 45 and have the same problem. My favorites are Cerave ( for normal to dry skin) I wash my face and body with it. And after - Topicrem, ultra- moisturizing body milk. I use it for body and when my face cream does not work enough I use it for face too.
The Avenue eye cream dries my eyes so much and I am peeling from it constantly. Am I doing something wrong? It seems my eyes look even more wrinkled from the dryness 😞
Watch your product… hopefully it comes from Amazon and not a third party. I have had nothing but issues with fakes. My last sunscreen was so obviously a dupe..it was shocking!😂… I never buy any skincare from Amazon any more… the fakes and the bot fake reviews are just not worth the aggravation. My friend ordered her expensive hair product… only to try to return and the seller no longer existed. Amazon did return, but you risk issues if you use the product. Sorry… just wanted you to be sure to check the product carefully… also the lot number. Some are so old it is crazy! Fingers crossed!
Tula Overnight does nothing for me. Plus: Packaging is awful, if product comes out, it is a different amount every time. Had this experience in the store with the tester but thought this was a one time problem. No, it is not. Do not look forward to when it is empty, I expect to not be able to get everything out of the can.
We’ll first off love your videos bu I must say I’m recovering from using L’Oréal cleanser revitolift and the retinol cream my face after 3 days was burning I stopped of course then my face is peeling so using a very gentle cream I used the mildest as you suggested I’m just trying to make my self feel better I did order vitamin c cream from Amazon it hasn’t got here Have any suggestions please
It's because the retinal breaks down the 'cement like' substance revealing fresher skin. It's shedding top layers, you'll see your skin look more even toned and ageless if you keep using it. Hope I explained that the right way!
Yes your skin needs to peel to reveal the younger skin. I peeled a lot when I just started using retinol too. Maybe to begin with, you use retinol on top of moisturizer or once every week, then increase the frequency and under moisturizer.
For years UA-cam dermatologists said don't bother with eye creams. However, over the past 6 months they're recommending them. I just buffer my regular retinol with moisturizer around my eyes. No irritation and no need to spend another $40 on another product.

I love Olay retinol. I've been using that eye cream to and love it! You can't go wrong with Olay!
Lmfao, you really said the stinging and burning was a sure fire way it's working. Oh lord🤦🏻♀️
@@kerenk6923You can 100% go wrong with Olay ma'am, a ton of their products contain fragrance which is not good for skin.
Jar packaging is horrible for any active ingredients. Maybe you don't understand that?
@@oliviad5474 of course, skin irritation is a common side effect of retinoids. In fact, it is thought that it is this irritation that is partly responsible for the improvement of photoaging seen in retinoid users. Personally, jar packaging doesn’t bother me. I’m not sure other types of packaging are any better as only very few are truly air-tight. Products have preservatives for a reason and that is to prevent growth of micro-organisms, whether they are exposed to air or not.
Allergy eye de-puffer?
What eye cream would you use for someone using Retin a under the eyes
Thank you Dr! I appreciate you! 💖
Hi! I am an esthetician. I want to be able to explain accurately to my clients about how certain ingredients work. With THD VIT C, is this more gentle for sensitive skin? Also, since this converts to L-ascorbic acid, does this mean this is most potent form of C?
Which can lift the eyelids?
I can i use for under eyes cerave cream lotions for face? Thanks!
I must be unusual, because I use my prescription tretinoin all around my eyes with no problem. I even have normal-to-dry skin, so it isn’t about natural skin oils buffering it.
Interesting! I’ve been afraid to use around my eyes. What strength do you use? Thank you!
Thanks :) Have you ever heard of Dr. Sam's Nightly eye cream? She is UK based but heard it's very good - luxury brand.
Can you advise what you use as an a.m eye eye cream? It seems retinoids are not recommended for am use. Wondering what your take is on this? Thanks!
Hi Amy! I use a bakuchiol cream in the morning (peach & lily) and the Avene retinal cream at night.
@@lunamcnally2062 Thanks Luna, I will check it out!
I really wish the Avene Retrinal products were available in Canada :(
Avene is already sold out. But I just ordered it off Amazon
Does any of these eye cream cause Mila around the eyes?
Lots of these brands are not in Australia
Thanks so much for this video ☺️
Why rub cream on hand
when it’s for undereye
Can you use aha on alternate nights with the retinal?
We’ll first off love your videos bu I must say I’m recovering from using L’Oréal cleanser revitolift and the retinol cream my face after 3 days was burning I stopped of course then my face is peeling so using a very gentle cream I used the mildest as you suggested I’m just trying to make my self feel better I did order vitamin c cream from Amazon it hasn’t got here
Have any suggestions please
It's normal to peel
and be dry at first when starting retin-a, you shouldn't stop but maybe cut back. It stops eventually
We can’t get the avene eye cream or the Mychelle one in the uk 😢
How.do you compare Avene to zo intense eye cream ? For the price of zo I was not impressed
I tried the Versed eye cream, and I peeled so badly! I'm afraid to use it again!
What do you do for sagging eyelids?
