So before the ‘76 German GP there was one specific concern by Lauda and some of the other drivers about the Nurburgring that often gets lost in history. The main concern they had was the organizer’s ability to effectively manage the circuit to GP standards of the time- which they just couldn’t. The Ring needed 5 times more marshals and safety personnel than any of the other GP’s on the calendar- and the organizers simply were not able or willing to organize that- it was extremely expensive. It’s just really hard to organize an international motor race on a circuit of that size and length. As for Lauda’s accident it took 5 to 6 minutes for marshals and emergency services to get to the accident scene, as opposed to now where it is mandated that there are emergency services within 30 seconds of any incident, which is why other drivers stopped to get Lauda out of his burning Ferrari. 5 to 6 minutes can mean the difference between life and death, and for poor old Lauda it so very nearly meant death.
I wholeheartedly agree on that. Like I said before, the other F1 drivers KNEW he didn't stand the slightest chance of survival without thier help in getting him out of that burning hulk, and I believe wholeheartedly that Roger Williams' horrific death, as well as Jo Siffert's in the 60s-era of F1 was on thier minds when they came up that straight, just past Ex Muhle, and ran into Lauda's 'engulfed in flames' Scuderia-Ferrari 312-T2. They knew if they didn't stop and 'act', like what SHOULD have happened for Roger Williams a few years before (I believe he would have lived, had other drivers stopped to help flip that car over, maybe. It WAS a BAD crash), they knew that Niki would die. And they weren't about to let that happen on 'thier' watch.
@@VideosVarious2 The 2 drivers that saved Lauda didnt just simply stop they ran into him... also no it wasnt those cases, it was just a general uneasiness in regards to fire that prompted drivers to help each other and back then there was a real sense of comradery in the paddock. You also said something about stopping for lauda which they didn’t. They ran into them. You still completely misasses the situation.
8:00 they named it European and Luxemburg GP due to the rule that no country was allowed to have two GP in one year - so they always had to have another name due to Hockenheim being in there
Lauda's 'rear suspension failure' which caused him to instantaneously lose control of his Ferrari 312-T2 happened just BEFORE the 'right hander' turn known as 'Bergwerk', not 'at Bergwerk'. The section, shortly after the right-hand corner ' Ex Muhle', is a fast uphill straight followed by a 'fast left-hand kink' and then to a straight that runs to Bergwerk, is now called 'Lauda Linksknick', or, 'Lauda Left Kink." That, is where he spun off the straightaway just before the lefthand 'kink' and smashed into the Armco barrier, and then spun back onto and down the track, before being hit by American F1 driver Brett Lunger and another car, of whom ALL jumped out to save Lauda from burning to death. They all must have remembered what happened to Roger Williams at Zandvoort, and weren't gonna let that happen on that hot August day in 1976, at Nurburgring. As it was, that was the LAST Formula 1 race ever held at the Nordschleiffe. It would take more money than anyone is willing to pay for that track to ever be brought up to even F1 standards of 1976, let alone 2024. But what an awesome sight that would be, if they ever did, huh? But then again, the 'history' of the old Nordschleiffe would be forever changed, and I don't think most people would want to see that happen.
"...That, is where he spun off the straightaway just before the lefthand 'kink' and smashed into the Armco barrier, and then spun back onto and down the track,..." In fact, there was no armco barrier on the right side of the track. Only a catch fence. Roger Williams = Roger Williamson.

Dangerous? Yes. Challenging? Yes. Thrilling? Yes. Legendary? Yes. But worst? Absolutely not, not when we've put up with and been bored by Bahrain, Magny-Cours, Caesers" Palace, Sochi, Detroit, Barcelona, Nivelles, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Shang-Hai, Zeltweg, Red Bull Ring, Yas Marina, Hungaroring.....
As a German, and suffering so hard from English commentators who don't make a single effort to correctly pronounce foreign words, let me tell you this, @dailyfuelup: Your trying the very best and my noticing it is worth so much simply because I am more than happy to watch your videos until the very end, and then another one. If presenters don't make an effort to pronounce words correctly, what other things don't they invest time in? Again: thanks a million!!!!
And you know what? After the comment that you practiced "Pflanzgarten", your pronunciation of Nordschleife became almost perfect. Before, the sch is still an s, but you audibly try to do more. After the statement, the sch is near perfect ✌️✌️✌️😆😆🤙🤙🤙🕺🕺
This is not a video in witch I should laugh the entire time, but as a German there are not many things more funny than you pronouncing all this German words😂
I can pronounce a lot of German words even though it is not my native language. I could not resist laughing because he didn't even try to say them correctly!
There are multiple inaccuracies in the sections of the track being talked about and what’s shown on the track, and also the place of Lauda’s accident, which wasn’t Bergwerk, but the corner before that, which has since been named Lauda links (meaning Lauda left)
I’ve always held the opinion that the Nurburgring is a great track for driving, but terrible for racing. If you see the races today held at the Nordschleife, they are excruciatingly boring. What would you expect out of a 14+ mile track with only two real passing zones? It should be viewed as a relic of the past.
2015 in a gt class, Jann Madenburough had his Nissan go up into the air and had one massive crash, killing one spectator. I only know this because of the movie Grand Turismo
Even jann mardenbourgh crashed after his car was airborne and killed a spectator in the guardrails when the car did flips, Jann was ok, just a bit shaken up, the sport is gran turismo
The channel is really high quality but the "apple/iphone avatar" that pops up every now and then really brings it down and ruins it for me, i don't like it at all but maybe that's just my problem lol
As of this day I have only managed to drive the track at full speed without leaving it once. And likely will never manage it again. It is truely a track to test your skill. Driving the track in BeamNG is almost impossible.
If it took you 10 minutes to practice saying "Pflanzgarten", it will take you about 3 years to be able to pronounce "Nürburg" (the little town with a Burg on top of the Berg.
FIA want to win America but they'll lose many fans pampering to those American tastes. It wouldn't be so bad if the circuits in America were real circuits and not streets of a city. Monaco is a rare exception to this rule, although it isn't an exciting race these days. At least, the other races in Europe are proper circuits and proper races that don't limit these cars so much. If Liberty wanted to change F1 why did they buy it in the first place? F1 fans don't need Liberty Media!
Having driven the circuit and watched the 1976 German Grand Prix at the ‘Ring, I can say I totally disagree with the title you’ve given the track as the Worst F1 track of all time. If you equate danger with how bad a track is, How about Imola, Spa, Jeddah, Suzuka or Monaco? The last time I checked, auto racing, in any car on any track is dangerous. The new Nurburgring circuit qualifies as a bad track, most Herman Tilke tracks are devoid of character or challenge. If racing scares you, don’t do it, any track can take a life in the blink of an eye.

6:12 That’s not Andy Gehrmann, that crash shown was Jann Mardenboroug
Andy was the spectator, the spectator died, not the racer
It's not the question, why this track is so dangerous. It's, how all other tracks can be so safe
Fuel will go mad. Drivers might not able to finish the entire race?
Why? They have a certain amount of fuel to drive a certain amount of kilometers every race. This one shouldn't be the exception.
