Lifan has been around for a long time, I remember their "automatic" road bikes and their many enduro/dual sports. They seem to run about 50-100cc behind per regular cc of the big 4//6 names.. I used to get called to do reviews for the one local owned shop that sold them when I lived in the city-WBPA. I rode everything they had around the parking lot and area whenever I stopped in. I thought they were decent but very underpowered and needed various things retightened, etc. They had a 600cc auto that was pretty popular, they really had some power once you got the r's up passed 10k. Lifan has been around awhile and as long as you are mechanically inclined they will last you, as long as you don't mind rebuilding/replacing this or that from time to time. I have a ton of pics of their bikes from back in the mid 2000's when the shops were popping up all over the city to service and sell them for like 1-4 years, then they all dried up.
And even if you tell them what it's like, the words always fall short. Nothing like that moment, when you and the bike become one, and speed doesn't matter, in that moment. Nothing matters, but keeping the connection. One being, that has found itself, and its harmony, that once you reach that moment of zen, you will always be driven to seek it. When you and the machine become one, body and soul, you will never give it up. Best addiction I have ever had, even after 40 years, and my favorite one to share.
@@yolostardust1526 Amen. Getting back into riding after an accident, losing my girlfriend, and her unborn child, and spending 5 years 8n the bottle, saved my life. It gave my wife and her daughter something to bond with me, and brought us closer with those family rides. You can never outrun what's nipping at you, but you can keep it behind you in the moment. It makes things clear, and makes what you are dealing with easier to manage. Getting back on my bike was the driving force, along with my wife and daughter, that kept me from giving up, when I became an amputee. 16 years later, down half a foot, with only 4 toes left, I still ride. I've been having a midlife crisis since hitting 45 and have been looking for a smaller-engine bike to start learning on and ride around town on. There are more options than there are stars in the skies and as an old guy learning something completely new, I feel like a baby trying to navigate a bottle lol Your video might have just helped me find the EXACT bike for me because the price is great (I have 5 kids), it has just enough vroom vroom, and I love the look of it! Thank you, brother, god bless you!
Your channel has been a blessing. Love the focus on Christ. I’ve learned so much about past and present bikes. I haven’t owned a bike since the 70’s when in the Navy. My wife’s’ brother was killed on a bike years before we married so she’s been anti-bike since then (over 30 years of marriage). We put three kids through college and now that our children have flown the nest, she’s given me the green light for a bike. I’ve waited a long time. I’m approaching 65. Maybe a small cafe bike would be a great starting point. It’s like I’m new to riding lol. God bless and thank you for the videos.
I have had one of these for almost a year. I have ridden motorcycles from harley wide glides to suzuki Hayabusa's. I have to agree with this review this motorcycle is fun to ride and own. What it lacks in power it makes up for in styling and handling. I use mine mostly for commuting and playing on the back roads. I have however replace that ginormous muffler with a custom made exhaust and muffler for a better sound. The KPM will maintain 65 mph no problem. Top speed tested with gps 72. Not bad considering it's only a 200cc motorcycle. I get asked all the time what the heck is it and people are genuinely interested. Stay safe and keep the rubber side down.
Love small bikes, love your channels . Thanks so much guys you are an inspiration to me in New Zealand! God bless and keep safe! Maybe one day I'll get to meet you!
I recently order this bike from Orion Powersports online. When it arrived it was immediately giving a check engine light flash indicator related to the oxygen sensor. The battle that I'm having now is getting parts to do the repair myself. The downside is the distributor will only send parts to an authorized dealer, and the closes one to me is 98 miles. It's a fun bike to ride, but if parts start going bad, you may find yourself between a rock and a hard play like me.
I have 2 Chinese bikes and I love them. An adventure bike and a retro like the lifan. I hope you manage to get over people’s preconceptions and sell them. Cheap to buy and maintain and perfect if you want to learn about working on your own bike. They are the same spec and most of the time the same factories as japanese bikes. Yes, quality can be a bit lower than your traditional brands and you risk getting a lemon, but owning 2 or 3 bikes for the price of a traditionally branded one really makes up for it. Once you are out of guarantee any half decent mechanic can work on them as the technology is basic. Don’t keep your hopes up for a worshop manual, although i got lucky finding quite decently close ones for both of my bikes. Spares can be difficult to find in your local dealership, but in my case I can find everything i need on the internet. No, i am not Chinese or a stooge. Here in france small capacity chinese bikes greatly outsell traditional brands, and i have a feeling it is the case in other european countries like the uk, where i lived previously.
I have been working in China for 3 years now. They have awesome looking, super reliable bikes. They often get a bad rap by uninformed people. Good job punting the unusual... Awesome.
This is out of place..Yes they have reliable bikes in China because they have parts, service and dealer support..in the US there are a handful of dealerships that will allow you to drop off a Chinese bike for service.. that is US and Canada..there are plenty of garbage bikes in Mexico.. copies made by Mexican manufacturers like Italika.. great for 200-1000 miles then the decline begins.. once China bites the bullet and starts in major markets like California, Texas, Nevada.. get bikes on the road and have a service network that doesn't make riding a Chinese motorcycle like riding a unicorn
Hey Shaun, loved this video. If you could review a good budget friendly intermediate cafe racer I'm sure a lot of people could benefit greatly from that. I rode one of these for my MSF course today. It was actually a ton of fun. Pros: - second gear zips, then the power falls off after about 35mph - looks cool - has great disc brakes Cons: - seat is super uncomfortable - shift and gear lever are really cheap - gear indicator was broken and didn’t give a correct name on the right gear or whether or not I was in neutral (might be because students broke it) - shifter lever was super jacked up and I couldn’t get it into neutral without turning it off. Also probably student abuse related, but it only had 300 miles in it. It was still the best looking bike and the fastest bike in the group of Honda rebels and small cc nighthawks. Finding out it’s only $3,200 is actually a pretty sweet deal though.
Sean: If I were to buy one of those from you, I’d have to know it was not one of the two already assembled. Wheelies, clutch dumps, 0-60 tests and top speed tests before break-in and all on the cheap oil that ships in these. 😂 Jokes aside, this is a really nice bike for the money. I’ve got a Lifan dual sport and I’m really happy with it. I suspect all 40 will be sold pretty fast. Good luck, sir!
There's nothing wrong with carburetors. They are a well developed technology that can be repaired easily. Fuel injection is not at all necessary for a 200 CC machine. Its like a back-up camera on a motorcycle.

This bike is way cool. Like a Super Cub with a few extra gears. Perfect for scooter riders who want the motorcycle experience without the fears of dumping the bike.
It's more fun to ride a small bike fast, than a fast bike slow. Been riding since I was 5, and daily a VTX 1800c, but I still ride mom's old XS 650, and enjoy the hell out of it. My wife does as well. She dalies a 90 VT 1100, and just started riding my 1600 Vulcan. We crank on the night ones, we risk our licenses and life. We can push the snot out of our little bikes, and almost never break the speed limit. Same with the matched set of Ruckus scooters. Same wind, different classes of fun.
Me: “Hey, check out this bike.” Wife: “No.” Me: “Hey, can I get this bike.” Wife: “No.” Me: “Hey, check out these Bikes and Beards videos about this bike.” Wife: “Oh, that is a cool bike. You should get it.”
This bike reminds me of my first bike. 1972 Yammaha RD 350 2 stroke. But my top speed was 55mph. This bike was a blast. It could actually stand up straight if you popped the clutch at a stop with both feet on the grond.
I like the bike and get what its meant for being a 200cc and all. That being said It would be cool to see a version with a bigger engine for those who graduate from a beginner bike.
Is it sad to say that I watch this videos so many times I already know when your making a left and a right and how to get to the highway where you are...
My first road bike was a 1975 XL250 Honda endro. Think it was a XL but I'm not sure about that any more. Unimportant, I had big fun on that bike and to this day I like dual sport/endro bikes. The small displacement bike are fun around town etc. They aren't for epic trips. I have 2001 Valkyrie if I want to go two up with my wife for hundreds of miles which we do or for that matter if I want to go ride for hours in the country. The Valkyrie does what it does very well and people are fascinated with it. It catches eyes. The other side of that is, it is a big heavy bike, sometimes light and slow is just as fun. The closet city to me is Savannah Ga and if I lived there I would have some sort of a cheap cafe racer. I don't need 900 cc for an around town bike.
This was great and I'll tell you why for me personally. I've been looking at smaller bikes because it's been a while since I've ridden. And I was really considering buying one of these Lowe's CC cafe racers. When you showed me your acceleration, I immediately decided that I needed a higher cc bike because that was always what was missing on scoots, even the 250s. Every other reviewer on 250s and smaller say how much fun they are, but I do want some get up and go. Really good looking bike though. I'd buy one of these in a 500
These things seem pretty good for the money. My daughter has a little 110 pit bike with a Lifan engine or however you spell it and it’s super reliable I change the oil every spring and that’s about it she rides it almost every day for 3 years now.
Lifan has been in the US for years. I know for at least 15+ years. The joke has always been that you need to check every single bolt before riding, because they aren't all tightened down and you never know which ones are loose.
I think it's awesome that you bought a bunch of these bikes. It's an affordable way for some younger people who want to get into riding to do it without breaking the bank. There are also a lot of man bun having, latte drinking hipsters that need a cafe racer to complete their look 😂😂

I had a Chinese motorcycle. It was garbage. The clutch kept hanging up and the carburetor was junk. It never ran right. That's what happens when you make something as cheap as possible (which is what the Chinese are famous for). This bike is not worth buying. I was wondering why Sean was so crazy about them until he said he bought 40 to sell.
You probably bought one of the worst brands, lifan is waaaaay better than other china brands and is continuing to improve their bikes while keeping them affordable
I'd kill for one of these. I've been meaning to buy one. But I'm currently unable to ride at all due to breaking my ankle on my dirtbike. As soon as I can ride again, you best belive I'm buying my first road bike and getting out there and cruising.
My friend had one. Let me ride it thru town. Its a good starter bike. People in NY go 80-90 on the highway so he said its a bit weak and scary for that. I was actually about to buy it off him when he sold but the low top speed. Im happy i got my Sportster 883 for around the same price as a new Lifan. Enough power to go 80-90 when needed lol

People who don’t ride just don’t get it. The feeling when you are riding is amazing. Open air. Love it
“Wind Therapy” :)

It gave me something to take my kid off my divorce, a few years later. And it got me and mom back on speaking terms, and closer than we had been since I was a kid.
I still ride from NY to Cleveland, pick my daughter up, while my son in law is at work, and spend the day with her. My wife and I get on her Vulcan and my VTX, pick a direction, and just go.
Right now, we are crashing in a friend's basement, trying to rebuild and start over. The bikes are what keeps us safe. As is the love of a brother, who he and his wife took us in, when we needed it most, who we also ride with.
And yes, things are turning around, and going well. You are in our prayers as well, for continued good fortune.

I rode one of these for my MSF course today. It was actually a ton of fun.
Pros:
- second gear zips, then the power falls off after about 35mph
- looks cool
- has great disc brakes
Cons:
- seat is super uncomfortable
- shift and gear lever are really cheap
- gear indicator was broken and didn’t give a correct name on the right gear or whether or not I was in neutral (might be because students broke it)
- shifter lever was super jacked up and I couldn’t get it into neutral without turning it off.
Jokes aside, this is a really nice bike for the money. I’ve got a Lifan dual sport and I’m really happy with it. I suspect all 40 will be sold pretty fast. Good luck, sir!
To confirm... you want a guarantee that Sean did not use Honey in the crankcase ?

This bike reminds me of my first bike. 1972 Yammaha RD 350 2 stroke. But my top speed was 55mph. This bike was a blast. It could actually stand up straight if you popped the clutch at a stop with both feet on the grond.
I did that on a test ride on that bike in 73; scared me to death. Bought a Plymouth instead. :)
My '77 RD400 Yamaha could do 98mph. Not terrifying at all. Harley humiliator.

Mine was a 75 xl 100 and I rode it till the wheels fell off
Chinese bikes are always having problems with the suspensions tho and they tend to wobble at 100kph
