Thank you for this video!!! I just bought two new rugs, one for under my dining table and one for the living room. I've never seen such wrinkled rugs before and didn't know what to do, this video helps so much!!!
I appreciate this tip so much, I had a wrinkle in a rug in my little boys room as he was learning how to walk, and it was wreaking havoc on our routine.
@@Charleeo10 I think I’ve bought like four or five of them over the years. I’ve bought them for the office and for the house and the dogs keep destroying them.
Another trick that works well is to lay the rug outside in the sun and let they sun do the work. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. Only takes an hr or so.
Blow dryer doesn't work anywhere near as well. If it works at all. It's the weight and pressure of the iron that makes it effect. The heat is a smaller factor
FYI, I use that carpet tape often on photo shoots and I always put blue paper tape down between the carpet tape and the floor because I've seen it rip up the finish off the floor. So if you think you might move your rug in time consider that.
Hello thank you for this wonderful video I had recently ordered 5 large rugs to go over brand new vinyl floorings and will definitely borrow your method thanks again -Abraham
All our area rugs are woven polypropylene. They are great when you have pets. If you have a steam mop, I have a Bissell, you can use it on the low setting to get the folds out. I remove the pad and go over the whole area rug as if I was vacuuming it. I don't mind getting down on my knees, it's getting up that's hard now that I'm older.
I don't know if this was already said, but looks like a job for a steam mop to do it! It has the cloth over the mop head already and the steam will take care of the wrinkles!
I have a gorg 9x12. I used it over wood floors for about a year. Sadly, it wasn't rolled, but folded/bagged and stored in extreme heat for 3yrs by someone who's GLADLY now out of my picture 🤭 Happily settling in and decorating my very own little apartment. I thought , oh my gosh! I can use that rug to cover the ugly wall2wall in my bedroom, but can't get the fold lines out to save my life. I've been seriously contemplating just stretching nailing it down to the subflooring. Maybe cute upholstery tacks. What the landlord doesn't know.... Right? 😅 I guess I should try some of your tips 1st. Thank you for posting. Wait ... Did anyone hear that? Me either! That's the beautiful sound of peace & quiet. Truly content
@@bridgetring3760 Because it's women's work! 😂 I'm kidding! I do all the happy homemaker and homesteading work around here, from sewing to building fences, to decorating. My wife is busy making all the money. I'm loving this.
Hello, Diedre! First off, I so enjoy your content and find a ton of inspiration! Thank you!! Secondly, this comment is totally unrelated to the current video, but I am very interested in how you make a space for your crafting without cluttering up your home. I have an outside shed, but can't really make it my year round craft space because of cold winters in Indiana. I am interested in how you manage your crafting space. Thank you! ❤️
So glad I found your video. We have just bought our dream home to retire toin a couple years and we are going to use it as a vacation home u til we retire. We have just bought a bunch of rugs for the various rooms and we have been working to get the bumps out. The runners we have in the bedroom are awful at the corners and I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to get those edges to stay down so I do not breathy neck! I had not considered double sided tape! As you will have had this down for a little while now and in a room that is one of the busiest in the house, can I ask how it is working for you? Also will it be harming the wooden floors underneath, leaving a nasty adhesive residue? Are you able to easily move the rug so you can wash the floors or is the rug stuck until it is time for a new one? Thanks for any insight ou can share.
Thanks a lot.We just changed the entire carpet in our house to a nicer & fluffier carpet. But unfortunately the rugs we used before on the older thinner carpet does not sit nicely on the newer one.The rugs keep wrinkling & moving around all over.Any solutions for this?
I have a area rug that sets on my carpet and it’s kinks up or wrinkles only on one end. Will the steam process help that? Also can I use the tape to hold down onto the carpet? My carpet is absolutely beautiful and I just want to get rid of the wrinkles at the one end.
I bought a round small rug for my front porch and just used tape, no working the tape is sticking to the floor but not the carpet. Looks bad :( I need to start from scratch I guess and steam it
I tried it on an 8 x 10 rug, it is not as easy as it looks and with an iron towel etc t did not get the crease out, did a little not worth the time just a little took just to try one crease.
Would this work on a rug with a rubber back, I wouldn’t want to ruin the rug due to it melting regardless if use a damp towel. Would a steamer suffice on a rubber backed rug?

Your dining room looks fantastic!
Thank you!! 😊
The tape idea is useful, thanks. I will use the steam from my steamer.
Great idea!
Nice , you can get the same effect of using a blow dryer set at medium heat. With out adding any moisture to the carpet.
I tried the iron it worked great, I'll try a blow dryer next time TY for an extra option ☺ ☺

Hi Deidre. What setting did you use on your iron.
Highest setting
Thanks! LoL I washed and THEN dried the small foyer rug in the dryer, apparently not the thing to do. lol Anyhow, Thank You, have an awesome week.
Uh oh…
@Scorpio, I've done that too, and the iron works for that as well.
What setting did you set the iron on, steam?
I used the highest setting with steam
Fantastic.👍👍👍

@@OurUpcycledLife that is brilliant, thank you so much!!
Lol. She unrolled it and said, "it's much better" the camera then cuts to the rig looking exactly the same as before she rolled it.😂😂
FYI, when your done, I saw someone on Amazon has the corners that are a little heavyweight to purchase underneath the corners to hold the. Done
Yes, I have tried those and they didn’t work. You still have to get out the wrinkles unfortunately
What heat setting do you have the iron set for?
Highest setting
Would it work if I steamed it instead of ironing?
You can try

Wouldn’t a garment steamer work easier?
Unsure I don’t have one

Put in the bathroom while taking a shower and maybe the steam from the shower will help
Yes, that would probably help. Thanks so much for watching.
Blue tack works best
thanks grandma i learn somthing
I'm so glad!
Don’t do on top of cushion floor. 😂

Oh!!!!!! Great idea!!! Stealing!
Go for it!
This doesn't explain how to fix a folded rug. Especially one that says do not steam.
Vasting time on a cheap rug like that... take it back or throw it out...buy a new good rug instead
