Nadia's grad party CANNOT be after the B comes back from her honeymoon!! She will be making it into a welcome home party for her!!

Nadia is happier because she’s no longer treated like she’s unimportant. I’m glad most of the family stood up for her

A person only graduates high school once, people get married multiple times. If the sister is that horrible she is going to get married again. Oftentimes seating for graduations can be limited to only a few family members, so graduations are often played down so those who can not go do not feel bad about it.

Thank you! When they said a graduation is not as important, I was sitting here thinking "I wholeheartedly disagree. I will only ever graduate from high school once, whereas a higher percentage of people get married multiple times in their life."

NTA! How much does anyone want to bet Erin would have ORIGINALLY chosen the same date as Nadia's graduation if a venue had been open? George seems to be a nice guy. You've almost got to feel sorry for him. Good grief, even Erin is seems to be coming around.

Well, we all know where Erin got her flaming narcissism from (mom).

Everytime she would try to steal the spotlight, I would act like it's no big deal until the event for others is over

NTA but parents sure are for allowing her to act this way

Oh my goodness, my mother used to make my birthdays about her. Used to drive me crazy. I’m like I get one day a year that’s supposed to be all about me!

It's my second time listening to this but this time I almost cried when listening to the part about fishing. I have different circumstances but I lost that opportunity to have that kind of fishing trip with my dad as an adult.

So mom was more hurt by them, not letting her see the grandchild than her not seeing her own daughter

*Me Myself + I Sister -* Parents that label each of their kids w/their stats (1st, last, surprise baby, golden child) are such AHs that they’d never think to call one of them out for hogging the spotlight. They probably admire it. A way to stand out in the crowd they created. Good for any sibling for tkg spotlight hogging away from the sibling who clearly needs therapy the most (after the parents of course ).

My sister likes to brag that condoms and birth control couldn't stop her. She's the youngest.
It can be okay to know if you are planned or not if it does not affect how your parents treat you.
It's not surprising that the 4th baby in 4.5 years was a surpeise

I had both my brothers book their overseas weddings for a time when not only were my sister and I not invited or able to attend but when we had plans already booked including our parents. I'd paid for a two week trip for me and my parents to another country, they cancelled on me at short notice because my bro decided to get married during that two weeks. I forget what plan of my sisters was messed up with other brother, but I know that neither she nor I were invited to their weddings. My Mom has always given clear "sons rule the world" vibes while expecting me and my younger sister to help with housework etc. My one regret is that my reaction is to be extra vigilent about my son... he is not turning his sister into his slave, at least not with my blessing. I'm the eldest, I had no name for two weeks (or more depending on the version) because I was to be a boy and Andrew.

Everyone in my family had sweet 16 parties and grad parties and big 21 parties except for me. Because I chose not to. My parents let me decide. I’m introverted and don’t like the crowds. If dad actually cared he’d have skipped the wedding and went to the graduation. If I was Nadia I’d have refused the early lunch celebration and told him to celebrate on the day or not at all.

There are 5 kids in our family but only the first 2 were planned lol! However were were all adults upon finding this tidbit and it never impacted how our parents treated us. If anything I was always amused by the fact that us last three overcame all attempts at birth control.

OP is a freaking rockstar and an awesome brother and father. His mother could have simply respected the choices of her children who chose to go to Nadia’s graduation instead of Erin’s wedding, but she had to harp on them all for it. Now she and Erin will probably have lonely lives.

I don’t know that I can say a wedding is more important than the graduation. She’s absolutely graduating, but she may never have her own wedding. The wedding is more important to the bride and the groom, but shouldn’t be so important to everyone else.

In this day and age I don't think a Graduation from high school is less important than a wedding. Not when roughly 50% of marriages end in divorce, so it is far more likely to have more weddings in a person's life than the one High School Graduation they will get. And all of that is before looking at the fact that their parents went of their way to make their other children's graduations special.

Odd the ranks of the kids. Each kid should have their own day. A Graduation is just as important as a wedding. Days should either be charged. OP is NTA.

There are six kids in our family and our parents had their favorites (my mom the youngest boy, my dad the youngest girl) and we were all labeled as well. However, my siblings and I never resented each other and the favorites were not aholes. We are all over 50 and are still super close.
