GREAT TREATMENT ON THE SUBJECT! THANK YOU! READ ME: I just finished rebuilding two of these (Arctic Cat 300 & 400 AT). Both leaked fuel through the overflow after rebuild. After removing/replacing the carburetors another 3 or 4 times each, I determined that it was the needle valve on the float. The seat was clean, but the bore that the valve travels in had corrosion on the walls, preventing the valve from seating completely. I used fine steel wool on a screwdriver and polished the bore, cleaning it afterward with carb cleaner. The problems immediately stopped. A second problem with the 400 running rich at open throttle was the result of an incorrectly adjusted float height. Don't assume that it is correct as I did. The measurement for the Keihin CVK 32 should be 17mm; mine at about 15mm was enough to cause problems. Good luck!
I could use a little advuce on my 04 artic cat 400 I recently put a new carburetor on and it was running fine but now it will run a little while and then it starts to bog down and shut off i let it sit a few minutes and it fires back up and the process repeats any ideas are appreciated.
Good video. Working on one right now. Rebuilt it over a year ago but really haven't ridden it other than to plow my driveway. Took it out last weekend and it ran like a champ up to 30 mph then fell on it's face and would barely do 35 full throttle unless I was going downhill then it would run 45 plus till the next hill, then 30 again. All the jets are clean and no apparent debris in carb so I assume the air idle screw is out of adjustment, it was 2 1/2 turns like the one in video. Being on the bottom of the carb when on the engine there is no way to adjust with a screw driver, but have seen an ATV mechanic use a special screw driver that is designed just for this. wondering if you mat have any idea how to adjust on machine or where to get the special tool. Hope you can help. Thank you.
On my carburetor the diaphragm was stuck in the cap and I accidentally pushed the needle up inside the slide/ diaphragm and it won’t come back out. Any ideas?
Nice to know but doing it myself I would screw up this process so I usually take it in and have it done and paid unless I can find a Good backyard mechanic
Jan, Occasionally I find when people rebuild a carburetor and put the fuel line back on a chunk of the rubber will get stuck in the float valve and hold that valve open, allowing too much fuel into the carb, causing an overflow. I bet that's the issue. Let me know. Hit the subscribe button too!!
My carb on 2001 Arctic Cat 500 Auto 4x4 looks almost exact, except there is an additional "chamber" with some kind of plunger on it, that can be pushed down. It has a little black boot on it. Do you know what this is for? Thanks
I have the same bike and the oil fills up with gas so bad that when I pull the oil dipstick gas shoots out would that be a needle and seat problem or bigger problems?
I do belief you are talking about a vent hose. Should just go to higher ground on the ATV. Let me know what you find! I have a 2000 zr440 artic cat and it idles way too high and when i push on the throttle and let it go, it shuts off. Do i need to clean the carbs or just reset the throttle screws or whatever theyre called?
the slide goes up and down, controlled by intake air controlled by the diaphragm, ultimately control by your thumb on the throttle. That make sense? Thanks for watching! Some of those questions, should be answered in the video!
You said 2003 Arctic Cat 400 so this has the Suzuki 376cc engine like the Suzuki Eiger? I'm getting ready to clean the carb and put a new kit in my 2005 Suzuki Eiger here soon.My Eiger has a huff/slight cough to it and every so often will backfire.

Arg I just did this on my 03 arctic cat 400. Now leaking out of bottom. Followed these direction to a T. Looks like it's leaking out of a bolt

It is a primer so if you let your wheeler sit for long periods you can prime the carb instead of wearing down the battery starting it.

What was the black nipple for on the same side as the fuel inlet?
