Wow, this is absolutely astounding! Great work. This is what I had in my mind's eye, when I read the original H.G. Wells book when I was 14 years old in the year 1972. All other versions of ' The War Of The Worlds' be damned! This series is the real thing!
I live in Woking and have been waiting for a true, as per the book, film version of this classic, and most important sci-fi masterpiece. The wait is over. Bravo!!
Very nice work. It has the real vintage feel to it, with a nice retro twist that puts it into a league of its own and not just another retelling of the same story.
I'm ever so glad some one was there in Woking with a working stereo-opticon to capture these events as they happened. A pity they never found any trace of the Photographer...
That was absolutely lovely. I have read and reread War of the Worlds many times over the last six decades and complained over and over that no one seems to want to make a version that is true to the book. Even the BBC screwed this up. I'm still going to call the 1953 version my favorite even with it's "modern" loose interpretation, but with you I may have found my second favorite version. BTW: The Spielberg 2005 tripods are my favorite. I recognize the ones you use are from old book illustrations and charming, but the Spielberg tripods match what I've always imagined reading the books, with the caveat they are way too tall.
Back when I was a young man I moved to the UK and lived in various places around Woking and Ottershaw. I was a fan of Wells' book since childhood so, copy of the book in hand, I took the bus to Horsell Common, went to the Sandpit and started reading. It took a bit of work but the locations around Woking were at that time still accessible, (they may still be, I'm half a world away now). So a walking tour of the area seen through the eyes of Mr Wells.... It really felt like I was reading some alternative branch of human history rather than science fiction. A wonderful indulgence...
I've been so disappointed by prior interpretations. This is so awesome! The Martians are superb! They look like octopus/ticks! The scene with it killing a human is so scary! Thank you!
Most people realize, true sound pictures began in 1927, so it’s logical to make a silent film: the look is excellent…can’t wait to see the entire story 😊
This is made really really well, considering this is mostly cgi it's been well done I love it and I love how it's stayed to the H G Wells illustrations from the late 1800's... Well Done 😎👍
Clever and well done. Thanks I read this Wells in the 6th grade and my English teacher took off points for spelling on a theme because I spelled Grey the way wells did. To this day I intentionally spell words like Grey, colour and theatre the way they were meant to be spelled before the bloody ALS corrupted them
This film stock was discovered in the basement of the V&A, restored to remind us how the peace & stability of Edwardian England could vanish in weeks. Sadly younger generations are only taught about the ensuing invasion by the dastardly Hun a decade later using Martian tech. Of course that was repelled after months of resistance, not by germs but by our steadfast yeomanry, plus detachments of intrepid Australasians & Canadian colonials who finally arrived to aid the Motherland.
Martian quote: The problem is of course the humans. They always go aside of us and create technologies better than ours. But they will be replaced and taken place with ours. we had not had the need for such destructive weaponary over 5,000 years, but modifications to our current technologies will take place, and should prove adequate to defeat the inferior human defenses.
At 2:30 I was hoping for this to be another good Marmite advert. Members of the Deputation seem to be wearing slightly large shoes. I like that as these may facilitate the traversal of Marmite exudations from yon capsule. Marmite Manna from Heaven.
Greta stuff. The ultimate movie adaptation still has to be made but this comes much closer then the big money ones. Eat your heart out, Mr. Spielberg. Also nice how you went for the Henrique Alvim Corrêa look. His version is surely one of the best. I've always hoped for a movie version which stays closer to the original. One problem though. The humans are modeled with too much realism here. They already look like zombies before the trouble starts. Only joking off course. Within e limitations of the tools this is excellent work!
Surrey had ideal parking for Martian invasions. I don’t know what it’s like today especially if you drive an electric flying saucer, probably no adequate charging points.
I think the awkwardness of the walk loops works here for some reason. It reminds me of how early, black & white films almost always ran too quickly... gives the same kind of vibe. However (03:48) the loop here becomes obvious as they march in perfect time. Did you use motion capture files or is it your own animation? (Please accept this as constructive criticism). The Fighting Machine models are well presented and you somehow remove the ridiculousness of the design. However, the explosion/particle flows are beautiful. What did you use for the fire and debris? Lovely stuff and, THANKFULLY, accurate too
4:14 I wonder what the HUD looked like inside the eyes of these things. Not some obscure 19th-century interpretation, but something snazzy and "alien."
Actually early depictions of mars and it's so called "canals" looked like that, just search "early observations of mars 1800s" and you'll see why they chose that design in this video since wotw takes place in late 1800s.

Me too. Some of those shots are actually Horsell common, right?
Hate to be naive Gents, but this is what the actual ground looked/looks like? That'd be great and a rarity in Fiction/Media.
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! This is exactly what a true to the story Motion Picture should look like! Thank you so very much.
Very nice work. It has the real vintage feel to it, with a nice retro twist that puts it into a league of its own and not just another retelling of the same story.
Excellent work, you captured the essence of the illustrations really well!
Looking forward to the second part

Imagine this is what caused the whole invasion XD
@@tango_mango.11560 just not to give him a gift XD

Yeah I think they were expecting Walmart greeters
i love how instead of using the drawings as reference, you actually incorporate correa's illustrations into the video. outstanding
7:42 i need that as my wall paper
I love it! The way you recreated the original graphics here and there!
I'm ever so glad some one was there in Woking with a working stereo-opticon to capture these events as they happened. A pity they never found any trace of the Photographer...
I have got to see this full series! It's unbelievable!
This is amazing. Thank you for the effort this took and the passion you have to honour the original story

I love the animation. It reminds of those fmvs from early 2000s point and click games
Most people realize, true sound pictures began in 1927, so it’s logical to make a silent film: the look is excellent…can’t wait to see the entire story 😊
I definitely NEED more of this
Very good! It gives a feeling of the time and is faithful to the story.

Excellent, and the most novel and accurate version I think!

Excellent 👍. Best version I’ve seen 👍
Very good job at making this video.

This is 100 times better than either the Pal or Spielberg attempts.

Even aliens were afraid of nukes and dont tell them those nukes (atomic ones) isnt just our first strongest weapon
Please, chapter 2 youre fantastic
Just fantastic!
Very nicely done

The dreams I will now have about aliens from Mars. Yes.
Lovely work
Starting this series right now, don’t know why I started in the last one but I’ll start that one later

I feel like the martians in the book saw a white flag and that meant war for them.
Very well done!
wow Very nicely

It's like a silent movie from the 1910s
i pretend this is a documentary made in 1927 making historical events that happened in 1906.
excellent work
Muy buenas recreaciones de las ilustraciones del libro en animación 👏

2:56 Why does that thing look like a butt with eyes😂😂
It's because martian's brains are bigger af.
Sorry, but the googly eyes on the Martians look stupid. Even if they were in the old illustrations, they suck and need to be removed.
Wtf
Please add switchable subtitles.
