The Martian Invasion of Surrey Chapter 3: In the Storm

- Опубліковано 21 жов 2024
- The narrator escapes from Woking as a storm rages and encounters the Martian tripods for the first time. He arrives in Byfleet as the evacuation begins. Chapter 3 of my ongoing project to animate H G Wells' "The War of the Worlds" using Lightwave 2020, Affinity Photo and FCPX and drawing on the illustrations of Henrique Alvim Correa.
Sick! It's rare to see the storm scene done properly in film, only other good one I can think of is the True Story mockumentary. I really like the momentum you build up as the horse bolts and that profile view shot of the gallop.
I was actually thinking I would see the main character put a dog in harness to draw a small wagon behind it. Guess dog-cart isn't what I pictured it to be.
I really can't wait for more of these, you've brought so much life to Henrique Alvim Corrêa's illustrations
Its the brazilian
I'm a big fan of that movie🙂 Greetings from Mexico
no me esperaba encontrar a alguien de mexico aquí :D
yo soy de Argentina 🇦🇷
I only stumbled upon these yesterday and it has to be said that this is by far superior to the BBC's steaming jobbie of an adaptation! It is also a nice tribute not only to H. G. Wells' classic story, but also to Alvim Correa's wonderful illustrations.
Very good job for making this series of war of the worlds 1906 and I was a big fan of war of the world you have done it well . This is amazing and cool .
Finally! I am hooked to these chapters.
This is Boss! Can't wait for Chapter 4!
These are great. I've been a fan of War of the Worlds since the 1980s. Can't wait for more!
This is absolutely my favourite version of Wells' story. The imagery is just stupendous.
Apart from the human figures it really looks like a 1910s silent movie. Excellent job!
Best version ever!!
Its bows and arrows against lightning. What a line! I cant get over the horror i feel watching the tripods walk, Holy $#!#!
We need more! We need 4! It’s been bloody brilliant so far!
It's coming - about a week I should think. Thanks for your interest.
i am a huge war of the worlds fan so this is perfect and yall saying that is better is not bad
10/10 I like your chapter 3 video 👍
Absolutely wonderful. Only Jim jamish or Alfred Hitchcock could pull that off!!! Best of luck to you guys! You'll make it to the show someday!
I’ve been waiting for another chapter. It’s truly excellent, awesome video making skills. I’m sure I recognise some of the scene locations Thank You 😊
This is great! Shared!
Very very excited to see the next one.
i really Hope we get to see some trench Warfare against the tripods and some Tanks of the era.
i hope in not asking too much just take your time, you are doing a excellent job with this Animations.👍
The book was set in between the late 1890s to early 1900s, so no tanks
The strategic location of the British Isles make it the ideal location to commence an interplanetary invasion.
This are so good please make more!!?
I'd really like to see this but with actual actors and photography for the people. The computer graphics are fine for the tripods.
wow after long time you are back
Im looking forward to see your take on correa's thunderchild 😀

This is awesome! You nailed the design, only missing the little cage/basket for humans i think. But yeah the imagery from the original art is captured very well!
Thanks for the kind comments. The illustrations in the earlier part of the book do not show the tripods having the baskets for collecting humans, although H G Wells describes the baskets in the chapter depicting the storm. However, logically the early tripod activity is confined to destruction (shock and awe!), so they would not need containers for humans as most would have been incinerated. Later on, when the Black Smoke is deployed to suffocate the humans instead of frying them, the tripods are shown with the baskets - presumably to collect up the corpses for use later. I will be including baskets in a later chapter.
@@kevinmccullen1 how about the one that has the middle leg in the front
I'm felling aloney.THIS IS pOoR! That's good!
Subbed! Looking forward to see chapter 4!
Can’t wait for the part where the 5th cylinder crashes
The scene with the storm has always been my favourite part of the book. Thanks for making it look so great. 👍
I always imagined from the book that the Fighting Machines are really obscured by the storm, but outlined clearly when lightning flashes. I saw them slick with rain, but obviously mechanical and other-worldly.
i dont know but i remember the storm scene happened before he ment the artillery man during his return to Woking (he had left his wife at Leatherhead) thats when he saw the tripods , they then went together towards Weybridge they also met a few soldiers on horses who didnt believe them when they described the Martians i dont know if its just me but the story changed on this video series but overall great work
I did, I think he’s cut out certain sections to increase the pace a little, and to work around the fact that he hasn’t depicted the Narrator’s wife, which nothing wrong with that, everything else is faithful he can afford to make those sorts of changes unlike the drastic changes made by the BBC when they adapted the story.
I’ve known this story off the back of my hand since I was about 9 (I’m 24 now) and I can say yes, the “In the Storm” encounter occurred prior to meeting the Artilleryman, in fact it’s because of the fighting machines striding on over Woking and towards Maybury that the Narrator first spots them after leaving his wife in Leatherhead.

Amazing work!
Fantastic.
Have you done thunderchild and the battle of the thames estuary?
nice story of ww1 tripod
I noticed the Martians had human looking ears! Not sure if that's true to the book, but it sure had me laughing!!
THIS IS FANTASTIC
We need more.
Legendary!
Why does it look more like New England than rural Surrey? Those Georgian clapboard houses?
YEAAAAAH
Can't wait to see the Thunderchild, which source will you be basing her on?
I’m not them
But probably how Corrêa drew her given the basis in using Corrêa’s drawings
How did you make the first the Martians return to surrey
Chapter 4 pls.
Man, would love to get the 3D models of the tripods in color, and collab on a live action trailer.
Wow.
really hoping Kevin uploads the next chapter
Bro where is chapter 4 you got me hooked
The martians return to surrey!
the next time your gonna upload another war of the worlds chapter can you please first make a trailer or a teaser please
Anything else?
but Why I feel part 2 and part 3 are alternately In the novel, isn't the narrator is in the storm before meeting the story of an artilleryman?
You are quite right - the narrator has a wife who he takes to Leatherhead and on his way back is caught in the storm and sees the tripods. In my film the narrator does not leave his house with the artillery man; they go their separate ways. In the book, they head together towards London via Byfleet and Weybridge (where in the book the artillery man disappears without mention). In my film the narrator does not have a wife and I have changed some scenes around and cut some bits out to keep the narrative moving along quickly, but in essence I am trying to keep all the "set pieces" which people who know the book will recognise. There will be other bits which I won't include, especially those which are more talking than action, such as when the artillery man turns up later as the man on Putney Hill. The curate will be in a future episode, as will the narrator's brother in London.
@@kevinmccullen1 yes, in the book the artilleryman and the narrator go together to weybridge where they stop to rest for a few minutes to continue on their way to london and take advantage of the fact that they are resting to eat, then the martians arrive, but one of the martians is quickly killed by a cannon but the companions of the Martian arrive from Shepperton and arrive where their dead companion was, which the protagonist separates from the gunner and goes to a boat there the Martians use their heat ray and destroy Weybridge.
Part 4.?
next?
because its taking so long for the next vid i bet its going to be long
It won't be a long video; it's more complicated with animated water and a lot more destruction. Plus I've had other video projects to get on with! Thank you for your interest.
when will chapter 4 come out?
Working on it! Lots of water and destruction to animate and it's taking a while to build Weybridge so I can blow it up.
@@kevinmccullen1 water and destruction, like some kind of martian's navy?
@@gavinrichards101 thunderchild
@@cringyboi well yeah but i meant about the Martion's navy
@@gavinrichards101 Martians don't have a navy
Make more pls
when is part 4 btw some advice make the tripods heatray beam go a little faster when moving through areas so it doesn't look weird when u was animating it in part 2 it looked weird so try to practice and have a good day or Night!

Война миров 4
Да!
Never cared for those Correa-designed war machi nes. Goofy rather than scary or imposing.
Sorry, but the googly eyes on the Martians look stupid. Even if they were in the Correa illustrations, they suck and need to be removed. It's really a shame, everything else is wonderful, but those googly eyes wreck the whole thing. Bad decision.
In my opinion, no way. They are awesome!
I hate the music
Goofy ahh music
Watch many silent movies?
