This video really helped put my anxiety to rest. I just started my loc journey 2/3 weeks ago and want them really nice and thic. I only have 53 locs, but they look skinny which had me so nervous. I'm excited to see what my locs are going to do.
i started dreads and i received so many nay sayers its crazy the key thing is its my hair im so glad you said its your hair you really have to find what works for your hair its yours
I seriously hate went locs play with my emotions, literally got me worrying if my locs are gonna stay skinny over time and won’t get thicker and now I’m at the phase if I should add prosthetic hair or combine some of my locs which would give it a less lookin volume and won’t cover my face as how I want it to 😩💀
how do you moisturize dreads. had mine for a year now,but I feel like I don't moisturize my dreads right. I wash it every two weeks or as needed, but when it comes to oils and stuff like that im lost.....help
RipEmXx thanks for the advice, but do I apply to my scalp or can I just put some in my hands and rub it in my dreads, should I use water first? im sorry im lost, lol
CrushedStudios Mostly the scalp but it's cool if you wanna put a lil on the dreads its cool just don't put too much... Doesnt matter if you wet it first or not. As long as you moisturize it. There's no right way it's really all up to you how you wanna do it. & no problem man I'm always here to help
Started mines oct 1st of last year going on 5 months some of my dreads are thicker then others I used to go every 3 weeks I’ve now decided I’m gonna retwist every month I have thin hair strands any tips? I use Jamaican castor oil now also started with medium size I see the length alittle thickness
Today I finished my dreadlocks (full head) They are hard and I cant bend them or do anything to them, when will this be over? I would love to be able to tie them up into a bun or something ASAP. Also when they loosen up a bit? You can see all the sections on my scalp which I don't really like. When is this over? Thanks
Depends on your hair type it can be a month to a year but usually you'd be able to comfortably be able to do a bun in 3-4 months without your hair messing up so bad
Hey bro idk if you can help me but worth a shot. I'm the typical white kid with straight hair, long hair on the top that goes back, shaved around the sides and back. I don't have money to buy any wax's or anything, but want dreads really bad lol. I like XXXTentacion and Lil Uzi Vert's dreads. For the sponge method, do I need a particular sponge or just any...? What I was thinking of doing was, doing the twist and rip method or whatever, tie them up with a rubber band, then later that day take the rubber bands out, spray my hair with salt water which is supposed to help hair stick together, then I was going to rub a towel in a clock work motion for 5-10 mins before putting the rubber bands back on. A quick question is, 1. Will that work to help my dreads get started? 2. If I take the rubber bands out and rub my hair with a towel, will my hair just fall apart? Thanks!!! P.s. I have been watching a lot of dread videos but I'm still really unsure on how to start them for myself with my hair. Just a little guidance would be very helpful!!
You could do the sponge method, but it'd take a really long time, because with straight hair, it'll be more similar to a neglect method, which will also mean less control over the size and shape of the dreads. I did twist and rip 6 months ago, and I get so many people asking how many years I've had my dreads, because they already look pretty mature. Since you're wanting the thinner, more uniform dreads, I'd go for twist and rip or backcombing. Both of those are methods where you will section your hair first, controlling the size and location of the dreads.
I made my locks a week ago and people like lil pump or others with dreads have like so many of them so you cant see their head rly i made mine and i have way less dreads why?
I have straight hair and I'm starting my dreads my ends are whispey and won't dread I only started my dreads about week ago will my ends dread themselves or am I doing something wrong? Any tips?
aye Gunther I got short dreads(1 inch in a half) and I was wondering what hairstyles would look good with my hair so it dosnt look completely messy thanks!!

Does your dreads get thicker when you start off with the sponge?
good question that has not been answered
John Kwaku yes they do
@soicey janay yeah but if you use the crochet needle you can actually chose how thick you want your dreads
@@G0DSPAGH3T1 nah not an autistic fool that crochets black hair
Dreads so you're telling me crochet isn't the quickest way to get dreads for all hair?

I really wished my dreads had STAYED skinny like they were when they just got crocheted in-they were perfect then!

Are they less stiff yet ?
Max Szura I wanna know this too
I can bend them into a dread bun, a simple one but its getting better and better slowly.
Depends on your hair type it can be a month to a year but usually you'd be able to comfortably be able to do a bun in 3-4 months without your hair messing up so bad
Max Szura When did the sections stop showing if they ever did?
when u going to get the ps4 lol
Wait I wanna know what you mean when you say not maintaining it
means he doesn't wash like every 2 days maybe
Dealing with a lot of breakage ... any solution? Also, do you have any oils you recommend?

I have like 25 and that's all the hair I had but I love them lol
It’s because of the way they parted their starter locs and part size. Smaller parts mean more locs but thinner.
My hair is getting longer not as long as yours but still long . its getting harder to sleep with a du rag how do you put your hair when you sleep
Matt101Vgettio u should tie your hair up then take the ties out when u wake up one Method

Hats, man. Hats, beanies, tams, etc. That's about all you can do when they're that short.
if you are getting ready to start dreads how should you sleep on them? like should you wear a cap or something?
bigwilliestyle du rag or any satin silky material cap
+Brendan Bolden that wouldn't push them down or smash them?
I got the same question bro. I'm getting ready to freeform in a couple months.
