The father one-sidedly deciding that his daughter needs to start having kids NOW with this man she just met to save the human race but then also being really conservative about premarital sex and suggestive dancing honestly seems very accurate
I love how the film ignores the fact that the rain would bringt a lot of the radiation down in the valley, and either ill or mutated them. But considering that one woman and one man are supposed to repopulate the earth, I don't think it is the worst that will happen
I know right! I honestly thought that was supposed to be the plot twist. Like the rain would irradiate them all so all their fighting to stay uncontaminated was for naught.
I thought the same, but I think they would've had to think about the ramifications of things to think about that... and I don't think the even thought of much doing this movie 😂
That one person was so advanced at lock picking they can do it with a gun. Also the vibes of this movie are hilarious, the dad is acting like he's in a zombie movie and the daughter is acting like she's in a hallmark romance movie like "oh dad, of course we're gonna let them in! Don't be such an old crank you silly goose"
9:40 the characters talking about the apocalypse with birds chirping and a nice breeze is kinda like how i would act out horrifying, dramatic, end-of-the-world plots in my backyard when i was a child
I do really have to admire the audacity of a movie that chooses to end with text saying "the beginning". You just don't earnestly get that sort of thing in competent filmmaking, and that's something I love about these old B-flicks.
Survival 101 is actually forming a group of people you trust with a variety of skills(hunting, foraging, gardening, cooking, etc) so you can collaborate and thrive together. Reducing the numbers is only good for dying as slowly as possible as the cans of beans run out.
HAPPY WILLIEDAY! It’s the best day, WILLIEDAY! It’s whenever the YT gods decide to allow Willie to upload, forgo their foolish copyright claims, and submit to the King that is WILLIE! ❤
My cat watched part of the video with me, and kept bapping Willie's knitting. She also bounced onto the keyboard several times, restarting the video. My only conclusion from this is that she also supports both Willie and this series and wishes to increase the view numbers. Who am I to argue with our feline overlords?
There are two substances that you can die from withdrawal from. Benzodiazipines and alcohol. The cowboy risking everything to avoid it is probably the least wack thing in this movie. (This was amazing tho I love to see your take on these old movies)
I figured it'd end up like the absurdly long scarf from Doctor Who. I'm looking forward to seeing him try to find space to sit as the tapestry piles up around him! Knitcolas will learn the dark arts just to bring it to life certain it will smother him.... but little does he know the tapestry shares the adoration and will just continue to support him and bicker with the yarnomancer.
the idea of your only 2 options in the apocalypse being either die a slow death while being transformed into a flesh hungry mutant or sobriety. Feels an awful lot like a set up for a futurama joke for bender.
I paused this video to get some food right at the beginning of the thumbnail posing and when I got back I had an autistic storm of fear and anxiety and worry building up over a text conversation. But hitting play and seeing Willie make overexagerated faces snapped me out of it and laughing helped me regulate. Which is a long winded way of saying these videos bring me joy in unexpected ways and I'm always excited to see a new upload
i’m glad you decided against putting down the public domain series! it’s fun as a viewer to look out for the movie online and know it’s easier to find through legit means after having watched your take on the matter :) keep up the wonderful work!!!
Personally would also enjoy really old, even black and white films. They can be boring but sometimes you can find some gems. Horror movies are usually pretty fun/ funny.
i took a class on the silent film era, showed me my favorite film of all my classes, The Goddess, which i believe is public domain. Of course, not exactly a candidate for a funny review, but he could do a whole compilation of the early film shorts
Surprisingly enough, some old Vincent Price movies like House on Haunted Hill are in the public domain! I’d LOVE to see what Willie has to say about movies like that. ❤ I absolutely adore his humor, I marathoned his videos today 😂
I respect that these don't perform as well as your other videos, but for what its worth, I love these public domain videos and they're actually the ones rewatch most often!
Me too. I have had insomnia and fear of sleep since I was a child, and I have seen so many old movies, and I love so many of them. This was in the 70s and 80s when it started, and I am 51 now and still love mocking critical thinking in these movies. It is hysterical but also a view into the reason boomers think like they do. And why gen X is so sarcastic and critical of stupidity. Lol They followed the law, believed government, and believed in the church. We saw the numbers on the wall. And here we all are...didn't get better Willie. Listen to the peanut gallery! Keep it up with the old b movies they are super fun. Also ...plan 9 from outer space, or vampirilla.. The really really dumb ones
Ok I have some thoughts I'd like to share (warning: this comment is very, very long bc it's pretty much just me infodumping): I'm not an expert on radiation so don't quote me on anything, but the way radiation supposedly works in the movie isn't accurate (not surprisingly). Radiation can take awhile to cause any effects, even years. But if it is indeed enough to cause damage more quickly, the symptoms are going to be more like this: first, they'd have a dull ache wherever they were exposed, and the area would start to swell. Then they'd develope what would look like a rash/allergic reaction/burn. They might become nauseous to some degree, and if they got a very severe amount of radiation poisoning, they'd absolutely be puking. The damage would become more and more noticable over time, until the skin just falls off. It would not heal easily at all, and at this point, the most likely cause of death would be infection as the wounds would pretty much not heal at all. Not to mention the fact that radiation literally rips you apart at the seams, so the internal organs would likely start to fail. Bones become brittle and crumble into bits. More abscesses start to form all over the now extremely swollen body. Different parts of the body may just straight up fall off. It's an excruciating way to go, but that's not it-- the remains would still be extremely radioactive if the case was severe, so anyone handling them would have to be careful to avoid getting radiation poisoning themselves. There's a certain point where you might find out you've gotten a lethal dose before you even feel any effects at all, which to me sounds terrifying. You might even feel unusually good before experiencing any of the nasty symptoms, and as a result, decide you don't need to see a doctor, even if you know you've been exposed to radiation. It's probably one of the worst ways to go that I've ever heard of, but it's been a long-time fascination of mine to research radiation and its effects, as well as people like the Radium Girls (who painted watch dials with radium paint and had to lick the brushes to get them to a point bc their boss didn't care about the safety of teenage girls), Eben Byers (who drank a crap ton of radium water and his jaw fell off and a photo of him jawless is kinda internet famous now), and Hisashi Ouchi (a nuclear power plant worker who got caught in a horrible nuclear accident and received quite possibly the worst case of radiation poisoning ever), all of whom are famous cases of extreme radiation poisoning.
Oh, and one more thing: no matter how much radiation poisoning you get, you are not going to grow extra limbs or tentacles or superpowers (sorry). It will almost definitely cause mutations in your cells, but that's just the damage I described plus probably cancer (I also forgot to mention cancer is much, much more likely for someone to get at some point in their life if they were exposed to radiation, even in small amounts. That's why you need sunscreen when going out for a long time in sunny days, at least if you are like me and barely have a drop of melanin in your body-- even just the UV radiation from the sun can cause skin cancer. I'll spare you the explanation of tumor-suppressor genes though). Now, if the radiation mutates your sex cells, your kids might end up with that extra limb or tentacles or whatever (but probably not superpowers, unfortunately), but you have WAY less of those than of your normal cells. So yeah. This has been radiation history and biology infodumping with Keels 😬
If those stories interest you, look up the cesium 137 contamination of 1987 in Goiânia, Brazil. A radiation source was stolen, sold and the capsule perfurated. The source glowed and people didn't know why, so they took it home, showed their families, rubbed the glowing dust on their bodies... you can imagine it didn't end well
I often get to these videos late, but I just want to say, Willie, you're delightful in general, but oh my god your ability to turn a movie like this into a touching real life lesson makes these all worth it.
I love these old movies. The point you think they're trying to make is never the point they're actually trying to make. I would love to know the behind-the-scenes of this film because it went in some directions!
Good lord, this movie was some kind of wild ride. Thank you for watching it and reporting back for us, Willie! Much love to this series and this channel and you!
Hopefully the amount of times I rewatch your copyright free videos will go someway towards keeping the series alive. They're some of my favourites from you!
You said to comment and I’m listening to you and commenting. Thank you for reminding me. Also as a daughter somehow I’m not surprised that the dad just went “nah, dude I just met seems more capable”
It is actually common for people to feel better after radiation poisoning and it's a waiting game to see if they survive if the body can repair them. Of course this is before the mutation stuff
This one was great, and that movie is WILD. I'll have to watch it with my sister. Also your poses were amazing, I cried laughing at your Mr.beast face.
So what ur sayin is... if i replay this particular video (in no less than 3 hours) and then again tomorrow, that it might help me get more if these? Cuz imma be frank wuth you willie, i will watch you talk about whatever the hell u wanna talk about, but i do like the movies, and i think the "modern" movies probably snag the algorithm a bit better, but i just wanna hear ur qwirky humor about things that you feel stongly, and it seems like the editing on your part is less stressful for you and more natural for us with lobger clips sometimes Ok, #RantOver ❤️
Well to be fair, alcohol withdrawal literally can be death. Id assume radiation is a higher chance....but both can be very lethal. Literally one of the most dangerous withdrawals possible.
If it makes you feel better these are my favorite videos of yours! Screaming skull is something I can watch over and over and laugh about it every time! ❤❤
to be fair I have heard that valley being free or radiation thing before, only it was in a book called Z for Zachariah. It's similar in that a nuclear fallout basically destroyed the world possibly, but a girl is able to survive because she lives in a valley. I'm sure the logic has to do with air/wind currents.
I absolutely love your public domain content and I hope that you don't ever shelve it. It's becoming like one of my favorite go-to's! I haven't even watched this yet and I've already liked the video.
Do we even know if the mutants feel pain while mutating? If i was at the house I'd try to study Ranger's transformation, ask what he's feeling at each stage etc
I really enjoy these videos. I love old, bad movies anyway, so experiencing them through your lense is really fun, expecially if I can watch while I'm crocheting. It just checks lots of good boxes.
The roentgen was a unit of ionizing radiation that was starting to falling out of use by the time this movie was made; it's named after the discoverer of x-rays, William Röntgen. The more modern rem is based on it, standing for Roentgen Equivalent Man.
17:10 Unfortunately, there are almost never bullet holes in old stuff. My dad has been going through his cowboy phase again and there are never even holes in shirts to indicate someone was shot. I recently watched "Murder In Reverse" hoping that since it was a movie they'd take the extra effort to show a bullet hole. I was sorely mistaken. I initially believed that the implication was that the gunman shot the window, but then they opened it from the outside. The implication is most likely what you believe, that they shot the door knob. And since this is a tv movie, they most likely didn't have the budget to visually show this.
The fact they call killing or exterminating 'destroying' feels so creepy 😂 Also, I love your videos and commentary in movies, I don't mind it if they are public domain, I wouldn't mind them being black and white, even silent movies might be great fun! ❤
The father one-sidedly deciding that his daughter needs to start having kids NOW with this man she just met to save the human race but then also being really conservative about premarital sex and suggestive dancing honestly seems very accurate
Yeah, I was thinking that too 😂
That's precisely why I chose to be born a guy..
You DO look adorable in your sailor suit Willie. Everyone agrees.
Right? Everybody says so
I concur. All the homies say Willie looks cute as hell
💯
So true
I would pay for a sailor suit so I can be adorable too
I love how the film ignores the fact that the rain would bringt a lot of the radiation down in the valley, and either ill or mutated them.
But considering that one woman and one man are supposed to repopulate the earth, I don't think it is the worst that will happen

I thought the same, but I think they would've had to think about the ramifications of things to think about that... and I don't think the even thought of much doing this movie 😂
"Stupidly, though, the dad doesn't kill them in cold blood." is my new favorite sentence.
Public domain movies are a void in the video essay sphere, and I appreciate both your efforts and your adorable sailor outfit!
I wish these videos were more popular for you, I love them. There is something special about the way you describe such terrible films.
my thoughts exactly!!
I agree!! These are my favorites!
The easiest was to help w that is to like every comment to drive up engagement.
Let's start an argument in the comments section for engagement!
Yup I love his reviews of shitty public domain movies 😂 always hilarious. This man shoulda been on MST3K

The gunshot was the lock trying to protect itself from McNally

Same honestly, but I would act the apocalypses out with my Barbies.
EVERYONE KNOWS HOW CUTE WILLY LOOKS IN HIS SAILOR SUIT it’s OBJECTIVE
PLEASE don’t end this series it’s my favorite lmao
I do really have to admire the audacity of a movie that chooses to end with text saying "the beginning". You just don't earnestly get that sort of thing in competent filmmaking, and that's something I love about these old B-flicks.
Didn't they do something like that in Pulp Fiction? I'm pretty sure it was a common trope used in a ton of 1980s movies.
@elaexplorer I haven't seen Pulp Fiction so this would be news to me!
Alcohol withdrawal can mean death by itself though, so risking your life to get more when you're that heavily addicted can mean saving your life
This is accurate. Plus any alcoholic who’s badly addicted enough would choose to die drunk than live sober anyway
"the father and daughter escape the horrors of this lovely spring day by going inside" absolute banger of a line

@@WillieMuse2That is the funniest possible respond to this comment, and I love you for it.

I initially believed that the implication was that the gunman shot the window, but then they opened it from the outside. The implication is most likely what you believe, that they shot the door knob. And since this is a tv movie, they most likely didn't have the budget to visually show this.
These old movies are great.
Doing my part by commenting and liking this video. I love these public domain movies and I hope they become more popular
The fact they call killing or exterminating 'destroying' feels so creepy 😂
Also, I love your videos and commentary in movies, I don't mind it if they are public domain, I wouldn't mind them being black and white, even silent movies might be great fun! ❤
Ngl I love these videos. Old films are my jam.
