Awesome, thanks for making this video. I ended up in the ER a month or so ago and the doctor told me I should consider them. Hearing you also saying you wear them on long shifts. Nurse Jackie Yes definitely, thank you for that feedback! I totally agree with you that it’s an important consideration when purchasing compression socks, especially when time is a factor as you mentioned.
A VERY helpful video! I am new to compression socks. They immediately fixed my edema, but were a bear for my wife to put on me. Now I can do it myself! Thank you!

I haven't worn my compression socks in a while because my hands are weak due to RA. I watched your video again and I finally was able to get them on. Thanks for your video. It helped a lot.
Awe sorry to hear about your RA causing hand weakness. That must be difficult. I’m glad you were able to persevere and get your socks on though! Great job! 😊
I am so glad a friend of mine shared your video with me. I got my first pair today to help with swelling and had no idea they were going to be so tough getting on. Thanks for this!
The only "real difficulty" one might encounter with compression socks is whether said socks are being used prophylactically (i.e. you) or therapeutically like me, who already had severe edema of the feet, ankles, and legs including my effing knees. I suffered an overdose shock of Novarsc heart medication (amlodipine). It required gargantuan strength and strain to wear my socks and it felt like I was wearing leg vices rather than compressors. Adding to my tribulation was that the pharmacist gave me the wrong foot size for the pressure needed, i.e. 20-30 mmHg. They were a size smaller than they should`ve been. It felt like medieval torture socks. Now that the swelling is reducing gradually, the socks are indeed much easier to put on. Surprisingly, my first instinct was wearing them the way you demonstrate here, meaning, pulling the sock inside-out to the heel. Nobody can get a 20-30 mmHG compression sock the way you would normally wear an everyday dress or sports socks. You might strain your back or get a hernia. Lol
For 20-30 mmHG, I would recommend buying a sock aid, and if you have larger legs at all, get the larger size aid. Also helpful, is to get a good pair of rubber type gardening gloves that have some texture on the palm. Wearing these helps you in working the socks up your legs, by smoothing them up rather than pulling them.
Omg thank you. My daughter and I were trying so hard to get them on. I have a huge clot right now from my hip to ankle and the pain putting these on was insane. Your videos helped us so much. Thank you thank you so much.

Thankyou for posting the trick with grabbing the heel.. This was life changing!!! I had cellulitis 5 times in 3 months period of time last year and I have been living in compression socks now to avoid getting Cellulitis again. To say that it was painful to put compression socks on when your leg hurts just to touch it is an understatement. This makes putting them on so much easier!!! THANKS!!!
Oh wow, sorry to hear about your cellulitis! That sounds very painful. So glad you found my video and it helped you! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I really appreciate getting feedback like this. ❤️

Hello Following DVT, and Pulmonary Embolisms, I was referred to the surgery nurse. I had a doppler test to make sure they were suitable and measured for my socks. I live in England and was prescribed on the NHS (I know I am so lucky to have them) for three pairs of socks and get a new lot every three months. The make is Activa British Standard Pattern Socks Class 2 18-24 mmHg. The nurse showed me the same method of putting them on but also advised me of a Dry Oil spray to make them slide on, it makes them so easy to put on. The oil I use is from Avon Skin So Soft, so should be readily available in America. The oil is also for looking after the skin to keep its soft and prevent it cracking, which may lead to ulcers and varicose veins. I have now been wearing them for 12 years and totally agree with how good they are to the previous tubular grips bandages I was wearing.
Ohhh that’s so interesting! I’ve never heard of using an oil to help put on compression socks but it makes a lot of sense and seems like a fantastic tip! Thank you for sharing! I’m sure there’s a lot of other people out there who don’t know this as well. 💕
Wow, I want your area's NHS Trust lol. I was told I'm allowed 2 prescription pairs, every 6 months. Anything else, I have to buy more out of my own pocket! I snagged the heel of one pair on our stairs within the 1st week - they still work with the ladder in the heel and it didn't spread, luckily, so it's contained within my shoes out of sight. I bought 3 extra pairs for things like going on holiday or in case of accidents, like spilling milk or food (I'm clumsy), snagging, whatever unforeseen events - just in case. It cost me about 150 quid for the 3 pairs, and that was with a first order discount. I treat them with kid gloves lol, I can't afford not to! Also I never go round the house without slippers any more, not even to briefly pop downstairs for something and then go back up - the stair incident taught me a valuable lesson, covering these stockings to protect them is essential. Lesson learned. 😆
25 years ago a nurse said to me I keep my legs looking good with compression socks. So I started and continue to wear them everyday and my legs still look great at I’m a guy 77 years old with the legs of a 25 year old!! I do not own any regular socks. Great video.
Okay, I am a 67 year old typical male, you know my type, we don't ask for directions - ever. I bit the bullet hard on this video, shut my alpha brain door and tried it. And Voila, easy peasy! I can't say I am reformed, but I can be more informed. Thanks SunnyEdge for put a dent, however small in my male brain. Thanks!
Thanks you sooooo much! I have to help my wife with these due to swelling and I was hoping there was an easier way than what I was doing! Now I can get help her get these on easy and without back pain for me!
I laughed at this video when I first saw it. Then I tried it and it worked. I was able to effortlessly pull up the compression sock. Brilliant! Thank you
I have worn graduated compression stockings for several years--since varicose vein surgery. I have good hand strength but I also have osteoarthritis. So, pulling or pushing hard with my fingers can be painful. I spend 8 to 10 hours a day working on a computer. Consequently, I wear 20-30 mmHg stockings, which are more difficult to don than 15-20 mmHg stockings, especially stretching the sock over the heel. Obviously, 30-40 mmHg stockings, which I wear on long plane flights (assuming we ever have those again), are even more difficult. For wearers who are less flexible and/or have less hand strength, even the 15-20 mmHg stockings can be a challenge. The tension required to take off some of my stockings (especially 30-40 mmHg) strains my thumbs if I simply push them down and try to slide the bunched sock over my heel. To avoid the problem, I push it down from the top and pull the top over the heel first, the same way you pull it over the heel and up your calf when donning it. I have learned another trick to make donning stockings easier. To don the left stocking: (1) I pull the stocking over my left hand (the "stocking hand") and up my arm until the tips of my left fingers are inside the toe of the stocking. (2) With my right hand ("free hand") I pull the stocking down my left arm and turn it inside-out, pulling the top over my left hand and past the ends of my left fingers until I expose the inside stocking heel. (3) I grab the exposed heel with my free hand and pull the stocking snug against the ends of my fingers on my left hand. (4) With my free hand, I grab the outside of the stocking at the end of my fingers on my left hand, and the toe of the stocking inside the fold, and slide my left hand out of the stocking until the heel of the sock is at the heel of my left hand and edge of my palm, and my left thumb is outside of the sock. (5) With my right hand, I pull the heel of the sock away from the palm of my left hand to create a small space. (6) I insert my left foot into the space, pulling the heel of the sock with my right hand and sliding my left hand out of the sock as my foot goes in. (7) I then pull on the heel with my right hand and the top of the folded sock with my left hand to snug the sock against my toes. (8) Next, I pull the top of the stocking over my foot and ankle leaving, one fold of material over the ankle. (9) I pull the fold over my heel and ankle and then insert my thumbs inside the sock to pull it up my calf, avoiding the very top of the stocking. Try it. You'll like it!
It's John Nozum again. I just tried your technique tonight for putting on compression socks. Your technique WORKED!!! Moreover, I am experimenting with regular white socks underneath, mostly to see if it might cut down on the ITCH, ITCH, ITCH, in addition to getting a little more pressure. My socks are rated "Moderate", comparable to 15-20 mmHg when compared to a blood pressure cuff. When I used compression socks last year, I had better luck with them alone than spironolactone and severe elevation (legs up against a corner, sticking up at least 80 degrees) PUT TOGETHER!!! I'm pretty optimistic that I can take a serious bite out of leg / feet edema in rather short order with these socks. My main thing still left to be seen is the hopeful absence of leg itching. As you might know, leg skin tends to be thin and can bleed easily if scratched "too hard" (and doesn't have to be hard to cause bleeding). I am 57 years old at the time of this writing and just had cryoablation done on my heart back on 05/09/2024, due to both A.fib AND A.flutter--almost certain to be stress related. If the socks fail to fully cut the mustard, I guess my next step would be to call a doctor and see about adding a more powerful diuretic drug to the mix, since spironolactone didn't seem to do squat---not even peeing more than normal, like diuretics are supposed to do. If I remember right, I think I was on 25 mg once a day. Didn't seem to do squat. Anyway, thank you! May God's peace be with you--in the name of Jesus! From John Nozum
Good video. Thanks. I do see that this technique would not work for hip replacement patients. It's exactly what they tell us not to do. No crossing legs with knee up and crossing over the other leg.
I use this technique for putting on my 30-40 mmHg thigh high compression socks. I find that wearing some dish washing gloves gives me a better grip to pinch and pull up the socks. Or there are special gloves you can purchase from medical supply stores but are more expensive. I'm not very flexible, so I lay on my back in bed with feet up in air when I put them on. Also, I do a lymphatic massage first to help get some of the swelling moving.
Thanks! I finally gave up and threw my newly prescribed for edema compression socks into the trash in frustration. I found your video, fished them out of the trash, and put them on, no struggling! 👍👍👍Feels pretty good so far. One would think the socks would come with instructions!
Haha I’m glad they survived the trash and they’re making an impression on you! 😄 You know, that’s a really good point…why DON’T they come with a little instruction pamphlet or something? 🤔
Thank you so much for your video! ❤ It was very helpful and informative! I had a lot of anxiety about putting my compression stockings on, but I followed the step by step instructions on your video and I got them on. My right one was easier to put on than my left, but after a lot of pulling, tugging and sweating, lol, I got them on.
Thank you so much. I also took them off the same way. It was so much easier. I also wore a blister on my big toe from the stitching. A 5 year old told me to turn them inside out first. I did. I had no problems with blisters again.

I thank you for this video. I was looking for an easier way to put compression socks on. My heart is doing MUCH BETTER, and the soreness is subsiding, but but I gained around 12-14 pounds since the procedure--in only 6 days.

@@thesunnyedge You too
Omg I can’t believe I just came across your video🤣🤣🤣 I had to show my husband because I literally will wake him up out his sleep to help me put on my compression socks on 🤦🏾♀️🤣 Thank you!!!!
Nurse Neke’s Coconut Cakes haha that’s awesome 😂 What a nice husband you have!
TheSunnyEdge lol yes he is, thank you!
Thanks very much! My husband slipped on the ice a month ago and broke his wrist. He wears compression socks so I've been having a really hard time helping him put his socks on! I can't wait to show him how to do it right!
Ohh I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s slip and fall. Yes, hopefully this method helps you! Best wishes!
Thank you for your video.I just had an ultrasound on my leg finding out I have blood clots and got my compression socks, I couldn't get them on until I found your video. So Thank you again to show me the way to put them on!
Very Useful and needed information. Well done & Thank you. Be safe out there folks ~ Peace &Health to Us All.
So I started and continue to wear them everyday and my legs still look great at
I’m a guy 77 years old with the legs of a 25 year old!!
I do not own any regular socks.
Great video.
That’s awesome! 😄 I love stories like this. And wow, no regular socks! You ARE dedicated.
Thanks!
Glad to hear it helped! 😊
Omgoodness! Your tip to put on and take off compression socks is invaluable!! Made it so easy!❤❤❤ Thank you so much.
Thanks you sooooo much! I have to help my wife with these due to swelling and I was hoping there was an easier way than what I was doing! Now I can get help her get these on easy and without back pain for me!
Haha glad it helped! Your wife is lucky to have you! 😊
Thank you for that description, it will certainly help my husband get them on my legs
I’m so happy to hear this helped! Thank you for the feedback. ☺️
I laughed at this video when I first saw it. Then I tried it and it worked. I was able to effortlessly pull up the compression sock. Brilliant! Thank you
It’s the little things ☺️
I’ve been wearing Pro Compression for years, and love them! Thank you for this video! It really helps!!
Wow. So helpful. My 86 yr old dad needs to wear compression sock for swelling and it is rough getting them on. Can't wait to try this. Thanks.
Thanks for the tips. I just had a total knee replacement and was having a difficult time getting these compression socks on. This is an awesome hack.
OMG! I just recently began wearing compression socks due to PE’s. This is the best!!! So much easier to put on this way!!! Thank you❤️
Pauline Barton awe you’re welcome! I’m so happy to hear this helped! ☺️ Does your doctor have you wearing compression socks all day now?
For some reason, this is the first video I've watched where I understood what to do. Just tried it & worked like a charm on first effort. Thank You!!!
That’s great to hear! So happy it helped you! 😊
Thanks for sharing! Sounds like you have mastered this technique!
Well, Son-Of-A-Bee... What a great helpful hint. Your advise worked perfectly! Thank you sooooo much...
You’re welcome! So glad it helped! 😊
Really wish I'd thought to look for this earlier - this has been so helpful, thank you!
You’re welcome! Haha that’s what I thought too after years of struggling. Better late than never! 😊
Great demo, I never knew about making the booty sock beforehand.
Always An Adventure I think I made up the “booty” name for it 🤣
Good video.
Sounds like you figured out a method that works for you. ☺️ Great to hear! Love the lymphatic massage tip too!
THANK YOU, SANDRA!!! Your method is just as effective to put on thigh-high compression hose!
How to put on compression socks has been a great help to me. Thanks Sandra for the excellent training.
Awe great to hear! 😊
Very helpful. They showed me how to do this at the doctors but I didn't get it until your video
Awe great!! I’m happy to hear this helped! I’m the same way, I have to see things a few times before it sticks.
You know, that’s a really good point…why DON’T they come with a little instruction pamphlet or something? 🤔
Bless you. I'm pregnant and was struggling with putting these socks on. This helped me out so much. Many thanks!
Ohh I’m so glad! Best wishes with your pregnancy!! 😊💕
Excellent and very useful presentation. Thank you
Awe thank you so much! I appreciate that. ☺️💕
Thank you so much for your video! ❤
It was very helpful and informative!
I had a lot of anxiety about putting my compression stockings on, but I followed the step by step instructions on your video and I got them on.
My right one was easier to put on than my left, but after a lot of pulling, tugging and sweating, lol, I got them on.
Awe good to hear! I’m sure you’ll become a pro in no time. 😉 Hope your compression socks help!
Thanks!
You're welcome! Happy to help!
Thank you! This has helped make my life much easier as far as dealing with my compression socks!!
Thank you so much. I also took them off the same way. It was so much easier. I also wore a blister on my big toe from the stitching. A 5 year old told me to turn them inside out first. I did. I had no problems with blisters again.
Haha that’s great. Kids are so smart. 😆
Yes. They are amazing. (at times) LOL
Haha yes 😄
Thank you! I knew there had to be an easier way! I had to start wearing these for the first time in my life and they were not easy to do! I'll definitely try your hint next time!
Awe you’re welcome! Hope you end up loving compression socks! 😊
@@thesunnyedge Well, I don't know if I'll love them, as I hate to wear socks! haha! But your way does make it a lot easier to use them! Thanks again :)
Lifesaver. I just bought compression socks and could not figure this out for the life of me! I have swelling in my ankles. I stand while I work (8 hours a day, 5 days a week).
Glad this video helped! Ahhh I hope you love your compression socks! 🤗
I at age 83 with a little problem of feet swelling, have been wearing compression socks for about a year, I had figured out my own way of putting them on and off, it is a struggle, tomorrow I’ll try your way, and see how that goes… thanks.
This video was so helpful in getting on my first pair of compression stockings. Thanks!!!
I’m glad to hear that! 😊 You’re smart looking it up from the beginning. I wore them for years before thinking “there has to be a better way” lol
That wias a fantastic video. You are correct when you say that compression socks are difficult to put on and takeoff. Thank you so much for your sharing this information
You made that looks so easy . I am going try the socks.
Ha 😄 Hope you love them!
Omg I've broken nails and spend 5 min doing it daily. Much appricated
Awhh lol well I’m glad you found this then! 😊👍🏻💕
A very big thank you for this video, huge thank you. First time wearing compression socks with the toe in. I’ve been wearing the toeless one. This was a huge help for me. Again thank you so much. Cheers
Yes, very helpful. I just started wearing compression socks. Today I put them on easier. Thank you
You’re very welcome. ☺️ I’m so happy to hear that!
I need help putting on thigh high compression socks. Is there a video of instructions?
Thank you for this video. No longer a struggle in putting the darn thing on!
Awe so happy to hear this! ❤️
Thank you for your assistance! This was the best guide ever to using compression socks!!!
Awe thank you! Glad it helped! 😊
Very well done! May I add that if you have ingrown toenails to leave a little extra loose over the toes so the socks do not cause painful toenails.
Thank you for a great demonstration.
Linda Smith awe you’re welcome! It’s so nice to hear these videos help. Thank you so much for the feedback!
I thank you for this video. I was looking for an easier way to put compression socks on. I am having some leg and feet edema, which seemed to have gotten worse since my heart ablation procedure, which I had done on 05/09/2024. My heart is doing MUCH BETTER, and the soreness is subsiding, but but I gained around 12-14 pounds since the procedure--in only 6 days.
Started wearing these today. Very helpful information!!
Ahh that’s great! Hope you end up loving them! 😊
Great trick! It also is imperative to have dry feet. I use Mexsana powder in warm weather.
Wow thanks for sharing. I couldn't get mine on in the aeroplane. I had to take it off. Because I couldn't even breathe with it on.but watching this video, I'm going to try it.
Great information and easy way to put them on! I had never thought of pinching the heel and then putting my foot in. Very clever. Thank you so much!! (PS. I just looked up the PRO socks on Amazon. They are currently unavailable there.)
Thank you for your excellent. video. I have the hardest time puttingnmy socks on. so I am excited to try.
Nancy
Thank YOU for showing a much easier way to put them on and off.
Of course! Happy to help 😊
Tried your technique, made putting them on truly EASY,thank you!
Oh great to hear! You’re welcome! 😊
O my ...that was mad helpful..I use to struggle
Oh I’m happy to hear it helped! 😊
I just learned this from Bombas sock school video. It is amazing how this method works! I am wearing Bombas. Super comfortable! My healing foot feels better with it on.
But now the most difficult part is removing them. I need to master that because my ankle is swollen.
I’ve heard good things about Bombas! Glad your foot is feeling better!
You are an angel thank you for showing this you made it very easy for me
Awe I’m glad it helped! Thank you for the sweet comment ☺️
@@thesunnyedge you deserved that comment hope you are staying safe and healthy please pray that this coronavirus goes away anytime soon
Thank you I really needed this! My feet is swollen again and I feel like I'm about to pass out. 😣 I will get contact with my doctor today, IMMEDIATELY!!
Thank you very much for a good descriptive on how to put this on. Thank you I have just been diagnosed with emphysema on top of being diagnosed five years ago with neuropathy. A double whammy. Going to start work with a vein clinic next week and I do not know what to expect. What should I expect? It would really be great to know thank you and God bless.
I just had hip surgery and they recommended compression after and my wife is almost worn out trying to get them on me especially my operated painful leg. Searched for tips tricks and my wife will try this 2moro. Thx!
Hope it helped!
Yes it helped it turned into a two step simple vs tugging and pulling.
With me a few weeks after surgery I can do myself using your method. Thanks for your kindness!
Thank you i have a bad back so socks are always difficult and i found the compression socks impossible until i watched your video
Awe I’m very happy to hear this. So glad it helped you!
Thank you for your demonstration, it certainly helps me. It took me 2 hours to took mine off; I never know it was so hard. My brand is the Life Brand. Demonstration will help me next time.
Oh that’s great! I’m happy to help. ☺️
What is the difference between these compression socks and those you get from the medical supply store?
The price. 🙁
@blueskysailing I hear you. There are cheaper ones out there but I found they just don’t last as long and aren’t as effective when I use to used them.
@@thesunnyedge Thank you. I’ve only had the medical grade compression socks. Hate wearing them, especially in the summer.
Thanks for the info, I have had Edema for a few years now and was always only using calf sleeves as I couldn't figure out how to get the sock versions to work properly. Cheers!
Awe glad to hear this helped! I think the sock version will help your edema better too since it will help prevent swelling in your feet as well. Best wishes to you!
