2/3rd through. I actually dug up these very articles, but not with your tact in discretionary reading of 3.5e content. I cannot wait for my new party to get to Mantol Derith...
I tried to push them towards MD but the pc didnt share a language with Srin'pitch Mizzrym, a trader from Mantol Derith caught up in the Dwarven Berserkers rampage when they finally reached the Forge Layer and sacked the Drow City- the Drow Merchant crawled around for like 10 months or more in the unreclaimed outskirts of upper city residential districts of GGrym- hounded by ghosts and soon going insane and being haunted by a Demon Lord. I had the party separated on two wood and rope bridges and the drow babbled undercommon to the ONE pc who didn't have it as a language lmao I can always have Bruenor send them there for the Ring..
So, a tiefling decended from Fraz-urb'luu would get +2 Cha, + 1 Wis, and advantage to Insight or Perception checks as well as to locate hidden creatures or illusions?
I was looking through the demon lords and this guy caught my eye. Mad me feel inspired to write up a Tiefling warlock who have it's fiendish ancestry be from him, thus I think sharing some physical traits, and would be under trying to carry out his will in place of a family who forgot their origin. The character would be all about deception, spreading chaos, and whatever it was that can help his master. I was going Out of the Abyss for an idea of how the character might look. But I was not aware of the hate against humanity, which I am not sure makes an interesting idea for character trait, or a wrinkle in whether a Fraz-urb'Luu would have Tiefling.
I imagined that a cult could receive a "blessing" from something of the level of an archfiend, and that is how they could receive aspects of them as a Tiefling without it literally being a case of bumping uglies or something. Especially since there is specifically Cambion as mention of a direct human fiend parentage. But that the aspect is practically the same as being a third parent, and in turn kind of a lineage to the demon lord. But with the mention of hate of humans, I wonder if say a different humanoid would work better, if they can sire Tiefling. The character I wrote up had the ultimate plan of becoming a demon himself, if such a thing could be obtainable, or even wanted, without being stripped to just a soul and made into a Manes. Although, looking at Fraz's reputation, the writing looks on the wall for how that would end up.
"peace is a lie..." lol! so i'm guessing anger & rage is a devils best friend, cool portfolio. the life and times of Franz-urb'luu. 😎🛳🍸 "... the rage shall free me."
I'm trying to look up about the creation of the Iron Tower, what source did you find stating that Fraz-Urb'Luu was responsible for building it? Searching trough Grayhawk and Forgotten Realms content i wasn't able to find it.
@@AJPickett Quite the elaborate lore though... Nowhere i look i can find lore about him before being in the Abyss... Was that in a campaign you played or DM'd at? EDIT: I just found the Dragon Magazine edition about Fraz-Urb'luu. It is Dragon Magazine 333. It says nothing about Devils, Dis or the Iron Tower. I'm still curious about the source of that lore, i want to add something like it in a table of mine. If there's no source for it, it would be quite funny that untraceable information about the "Prince of Deception" is being spread though XD
I had always believed Dispater was one of the original Lords of the Nine. And Fraz-Urb'luu's diabolic origins could explain why he's not considered a contender for Prince of Demons such as Orcus or Graz'zt as he's not originally from there. (Neither is Graz'zt, who seems to have more origin myths than any other figure.)

Hey Folks, long time DnD fan, recent watcher of Netflix's The Good Place. Anyone else with similar influences notice the glaring similarities? Like even beyond your normal run of the mill plight of the post mortem ne'er do well
I know this is probably a shot in the dark, but is there a way to get a list sources you've used for Fraz'urb'luu? I'm running Out of the Abyss, and I'm planning on using Fraz for a plot twist for one of my PCs. Would be nice to do a little more digging than has been provided about him online. Thanks either way!
Would be cool if he was somehow the Ultimate baddy from Hellgate keep. Since it was run by a greater ancient doppelganger correct? Multiple layers of deception. Maybe a base to search for his staff?
Learned something interesting recently. I'm not entirely sure about 5e, but I believe it's the same as 3.5. Outsiders like angels, demons and devils are not immune to curses, spells, effects or items that effect alignment like a helm of opposite alignment. An outsider who's alignment different to its natural alignment counts as both it's new and natural alignment for spells and such like detect evil and the negative level for wielding a holy avenger. So a succubus that succumbs to a helm of opposite alignment or, abyss forbid, the wiles of an intrepid hero and becomes lawful good will count as chaotic, evil, good and lawful. This is official canon by WotC and demon lords are not immune. It would be very interesting if someone like demogorgon succumbed to to a helm of opposite alignment, provided the revelation of how much of a monster he truly is doesn't render him permanently catatonic.
Great points. Here it comes and with me there is Always one, " BUT " I only have AD&D2e and 3.5e core books. And that piece of trash book I had not touch in seven years "4e." " Helm of Opposite Alignment," can Only be undone by a " Wish " spell and the character Will fight the reveres to their Current alignment all they can. YEAH they must make a WILL save vs " Wish " 9th-level spell. base DC:23. My two gaming shops over 12 years debated & argue over which Spell cast by a 13th-level spell caster use to make the " One Time Use Item." We wanted to turn it into a Magic Trap Item. The goal was to turn the Drow against Lolth the Spider Goddess. AD&Der to create a Ring of Three Wishes ages the caster human 15 years. 3.5e the same ring cost the caster 15,000xp + Xp in making the Ring. The base guest-estiment " Limited Wish " is used to create the "H.O.A" and there is no Xp cost in casting Limited Wish. In 3.5e a wizard at 24th-level can cast a 12th-level spell. save DC:32 (+12spell level+6mod Int:22, +4 spell focus/ greater spell focus feat: Alternation/ Transmute school) with the feat: Heighten Spell," casting a spell at a higher spell slot level. Now is this a Ray spell or a Touch spell ? The HOA is a " touch " spell. a.) a flying drone shoots energy beams at targets. b.) a flying/ bouncing pin ball ?
How to improve this demon lord? Put him in a fine dapper gentlemen’s suit, tie, bow tie, a sickie, cufflinks, the works, complete with tophat, cane and monocle
I know his combat stats suck compared to other demon lords. However him being a great manipulator, just makes him fun to write a campaign for with him as the BBEG who just acts as a puppet master behind the scenes. Only to show up when he thinks he jas the upper hand against the players
So, quick question: Does anyone know where the info about Fraz starting as a Devil came from? I looked up Dragon #333, #336, the Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss, as well as the 5e Out of the Abyss book, but everything there says he's always been a demon. I can't find anything officially from WotC saying that he was originally a devil, although I do remember this being the case back in 3.5e?
hello! can we (I) please get a video discussing what the second reckoning (5e) and its reforming of the planes (no more spell fire, scars and destruction of land undone) affected places/locations and people on those plains. namely the material, for instance, the island of lantan should now be there, are the cities? were the people all resurrected?? does anyone on the material have any awareness of what happened?

I tried to push them towards MD but the pc didnt share a language with Srin'pitch Mizzrym, a trader from Mantol Derith caught up in the Dwarven Berserkers rampage when they finally reached the Forge Layer and sacked the Drow City- the Drow Merchant crawled around for like 10 months or more in the unreclaimed outskirts of upper city residential districts of GGrym- hounded by ghosts and soon going insane and being haunted by a Demon Lord. I had the party separated on two wood and rope bridges and the drow babbled undercommon to the ONE pc who didn't have it as a language lmao
I can always have Bruenor send them there for the Ring..
Iggwivl is originally from the World of Greyhawk campaign setting
Yep.
Yep. First name Tasha. They say her cauldron's got everything!
So, a tiefling decended from Fraz-urb'luu would get +2 Cha, + 1 Wis, and advantage to Insight or Perception checks as well as to locate hidden creatures or illusions?
Certainly some ability to extend the length of time their charm spells affect others, and proficiency in Disguise/bluff
The iron tower isnt that where dispater lives
SHIT THRU THE LETTER BOX - It’s Fraz
God 5 minutes in, and i LOATH HIM, i want him dead and gone, truly he is talented
Can you do a vid on Atropus please?
Those things creep me out, but ok.
Just some clarification, I'm referring to the character in the book Elder Evils. Not Atropal Scions.
"The good place" owes someone some money
Wow. A long video I like it
I was looking through the demon lords and this guy caught my eye.
Fraz-urb'luu might have some sort of spawn similar to Tieflings.
Tieflings aren't human. He hates humans specifically, but isn't above using them to further his goals.
I would think he would relish corrupting humanity. All the better if he can twist those he corrupts into some form of feral depravity.
"peace is a lie..." lol! so i'm guessing anger & rage is a devils best friend, cool portfolio. the life and times of Franz-urb'luu. 😎🛳🍸 "... the rage shall free me."
You know what they say: People will always find a reason to kill each other.
I like that Hollow's Heart is infected with Ugadink. Lol. Heatworms
I'm trying to look up about the creation of the Iron Tower, what source did you find stating that Fraz-Urb'Luu was responsible for building it?
Searching trough Grayhawk and Forgotten Realms content i wasn't able to find it.
Probably dragon magazine then
@@AJPickett Quite the elaborate lore though...
I am looking forward to all the vids on the demon lords, there is some THICK lore in there.
Say AJ, what do you think a tiefling of Fraz-urb’luu would look like?
Hunched, grey skinned, suspicious squint
yay I love this guy! such a charming guy!
Can you please make one on sea devils
Sahuagin? I sure can, thanks for the excellent request :)
Sorry forgot the name thanks heaps for replying. Looking forward to it.😁
Love your channel by the way keep it up mate 👍
woohoo black Friday free patreon vid....tyty
Hanks bow .... it was converted to dnd stats, I forget the publication though. It would be interesting to see it again.
It was in a booklet included with the DVD set.
Energy Bow (+2 Composite Longbow that accommodates any strength, force arrows deal 2d6 and ignore miss chance for incorporeal, shed light as a torch, can make power shots with Hank taking a negative to attack and adding that number to damage)
Hey Folks, long time DnD fan, recent watcher of Netflix's The Good Place. Anyone else with similar influences notice the glaring similarities? Like even beyond your normal run of the mill plight of the post mortem ne'er do well
I need these as a podcast!
I'm going to start uploading more podcasts for Patreon donors, Channel Members and Viewer Prime subscription holders.
How do you spell *eskercha*?
And that piece of trash book I had not touch in seven years "4e."
" Helm of Opposite Alignment," can Only be undone by a " Wish " spell and the character Will fight the reveres to their Current alignment all they can.
Would be nice if you can put that helm on that evil shard that created the abyss to purify it.
Fraz runs The Good Place.
So, quick question: Does anyone know where the info about Fraz starting as a Devil came from? I looked up Dragon #333, #336, the Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss, as well as the 5e Out of the Abyss book, but everything there says he's always been a demon. I can't find anything officially from WotC saying that he was originally a devil, although I do remember this being the case back in 3.5e?
it appears to be homebrew from a 3pp book
dnd-wiki.org/wiki/Fraz-Urb%27luu_(3.5e_Monster)
Fraz-Urb'Bluu tried his own hand at acting once, didn't end well when Asmodeus tried to kill him with a stonecruncher.
Tower, bragging? Sounds like the patron Saint of wizards and warlocks.
hello! can we (I) please get a video discussing what the second reckoning (5e) and its reforming of the planes (no more spell fire, scars and destruction of land undone) affected places/locations and people on those plains. namely the material, for instance, the island of lantan should now be there, are the cities? were the people all resurrected?? does anyone on the material have any awareness of what happened?
Iron fortress on the second layer huh sounds highly familiar *cough* dispater *cough*
