Orijen regional red, is my dogs favourite, he's always been healthy on it, no vet bills in 4 years since he's bin on it.
My dog improved on Orijen - the extra cost offsets the vet bills we don't have any more
Why did you use TOTW puppy? The adult one has higher protein and first three meat ingredients?
TOTW uses a bunch of synthetic vitamins and if something goes wrong when adding those in and they slip up and put too much of a synthetic vitamin nobody will know until animals start to get sick and dying, and has been recalled for salmonella once. orijen only uses one synthetic (zinc) and has never been recalled. orijen's obviously the better choice
Facts
Was the food weighed or just put in a measuring cup? Density has a lot to do with food sinking to the bottom too.
What would you feed a Newfoundland puppy? Looking grain inclusive.

From experience in breeding I wouldn't use anything other than Orijen (Or BARF). The dogs and pups were just significantly healthier than everything else and food cost significantly decreased along with lower vet bills. Taste of the Wild is what I'd use if the supplier was out of Orijen and yes its good but not on the same lvl at all.
Also Liver and other organs aren't a byproduct at all and are extremely healthy for any carnivorous animal.
I just got a puppy ( flandoodle) and I have her on Nulo puppy kibble. Is that a good food? Thanks
@@jenelleespat2218 Never used Nulo myself but I havnt heard anything bad about it. One thing you should be aware of is that dogs do need a very small amount of grain in their diet. Just give him/her a little bit of oats or rice from time to time and you'll be good.

Organs are essential for dogs. This is what makes a food whole prey! If there were no cartilage, organs, etc it wouldn't be nutritionally complete.

Agreed! I've fed Prey Model Raw to four dogs over ten years. Liver is not a "by product" and should comprise about 5% of the diet.

I’ve been feeding Origen six fish to my dog exactly a month now but he’s been getting more liquid poop. Sometimes with Stella and chewy mixers. Not sure if this is “too much” protein for him.
That could be... it might be a to rich of a formula for your pup. I would try there Chicken formula for a few weeks and see if that works.
Julie Park try feeding him only Orijen once his stomach settles with the new food maybe latter you can add the mixtures. It took my dog about 3-4 weeks to get used to Orijen he used to be on victor before, hope it’s helps good luck
I forgot to say I started him off on orijen original just like Adam said the chicken formula then I transitioned him to tundra

Try regional red my dog looks a lot healthier on it than the original chicken orijen, poo is perfect, and coat shiny.

my new puppy is a week old at currently at the breeders who is a good 2hr drive but when I go back in 4wks to select my puppy from the litter and would like to bring my own food for him to switch him to currently the breeder feeds I think he said Hill Science? I am not sure what size bag i should bring to his place for the remainder of 3-4wks any thoughts? I see orijen carries a 13lb bag and 25lb bag does taste of the wild have a large puppy formula?

Why are no bubbles on top so important? What does it mean?
I feed my puppy TOTW Pacific Stream puppy formula. It seems to have been working good for his stools. He’s 9 weeks old. I got him at 7 weeks old. His stools have improved. He does however flake on his coat a bit. Not sure what that’s about. But I’m sure with time he’ll get used to it and his coat will be fine. My Vet recommended IAMS, Purina, Science diet, Royal Canin, or Eukanuba. I’m sure he gets commissions if he sells those brands though. What are y’all’s thoughts?

Ever since I switched my dog over to TOTW her stools have become firm after having diarrhea for 6 months but the downside is that her coat was flaky and dry as well.
Go with Victor high pro plus. Does the job for my Rottweiler puppy

Orijen is probably the best dog food right now along with being the most natural and safe but it's too expensive for me since I have like 6 pets. Thinking of getting taste of the wild instead but I heard theres currently a lawsuit against it. Any suggestions on what I should get instead? Right now I'm ordering some purina one but I don't plan on feeding my dogs that forever.

I think the reason why you didn’t see bubbles on the taste of the wild was because the taste of the wild did not sink like the origin did. And if I’m not mistaken when I was looking at the tops of both of them there were still bubbles in the taste of the wild they were just in between all the pieces of the food whereas the origin had sunk so you could see more of the bubbles.
I think both kibbles are great. I did see the same amount of bubbles in both but you have the products right in front of you so no argument there. Orijens break down was much better. It’s tough, I’ve tried both of these with my dog and he enjoyed both. I think for the price point, TOTW wins. I have her on Costco’s nature’s domain now. Any chance of a mash-up with that brand? Might be very similar to TOTW. I think they’re both under Diamond. Thanks for the mash-ups. Really enjoy them

I had my dog on nature domain (Red bag) for 6 years no issues. But in August I notice my dog was having real bad allergies and swelling in His face. Became lethargic and skin was getting terrible. Vet visits and nothing they can find health wise. Gave him allergy medicine and put him on antibiotics. Was find for a day or two swelling decrease. But later condition return to same. So i decided to feed him cooked chicken and rice for a few days. And bingo everything went away and became more upbeat. So I concluded the food was causing harm. Have you experience this recently?
E Mar ....I have not. She was on the yellow bag (beef) for about 8 months and recently switched her to the red bag (turkey). Just for taste variety. She still scratches a lot but I have noticed her coat looks better. Just weird that after 6 years, your dog had this reaction. I guess dogs just like humans can become allergic to something they weren’t sensitive to in the past. Hoping they didn’t add a different ingredient that hurt your dog. Glad to hear your pup is doing better though
@@jlruiz7634 good for you and your dog. I researched on forums and apparently some owners have experience the same as of recently. One owner reported she reached out to Costco for any news of any new formula change. Costco reported back saying no change from manufacturer. But you never know. I was thinking of trying totw but you noted that they are made by Diamond dog food. So I'm reluctant to try now.

Liver is a high source of vitamins so they don’t have to add synthetic ones in.
I stopped feeding TOTW because of all the unknown supplements that were causing runny stools. It worked for my boxer but not my French bull dog. So they’re on Acana now

If money is not the issue I would go with TOTW but if you on a budget I would look at Whole hearted as a good grain free brand.

It’s just to add some acid to the water just like in the dogs stomach.

Hey can someone help. I was feeding my guy acana for 7 years or so. Then switched to royal canine digestive,dont remember why but wasnt anything serious. Hes a yellow lab,looks like hes 2 or 3 still or younger and acts it aswell. I wanna switch him to whatever is the best and help him live the longest as he is my world. I have noticed that most of his life his mouth has been a bit stinky. I try to brush his teeth once a week or more. Any suggestions would be awesome for my best buddy Cooper.

I know that they make both foods but what I think they want to see is the different if the lines of foods are comparable to each other
I'd like to point out the difference in the Omega 3 Omega 6 levels and more importantly ratio! Orijen wins hands down. Hard to find a better kibble imo

I know this is for dog food... BUT.. my 10yd old cat.. has never looked and been healthier in her life like since I started giving her TOTW Rocky Mountain.. excellent food.. even my vet saw a BIG change.. I will never change it
She ate Orijen for 2 years and some other top brands.. always have her what I thought it was the best
TOTW uses synthetic vitamins and if something goes wrong when adding them and they put too much of a vitamin then nobody will know until pets start getting sick and dying. you should get orijen or carna4 instead, orijen only uses one synthetic (zinc) and doesn't have to add synthetic vitamins, while carna4 doesn't have any at all. TOTW has been recalled for salmonella while orijen and carna4 have never been recalled

Appreciate Video clip! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you tried - Ariamon Aquarius Agamid (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for learning some healthy recipes for your dog food without the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cousin after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical results with it.

Liver is an organ so that makes it a byproduct but it is a good byproduct
Liver is not a by-product it’s an essential nutrient for them, by-product encompasses other ingredients like hooves, frames etc. I’m just wondering because the ingredients list you have is different from what I see from the tundra version. This is directly copied on their website:

Livers are the gut foods hunting dogs first eat when they catch their prey. Highest in iron and minerals. From a guy who cannot pronounce "Walleye"? I'll stick with Orijen.

I really don’t know a lot about it. Look at the ingredients in if there’s corn wheat soy byproducts artificial coloring you know it’s not really a well balanced formula!!

@@edithgracia1324 I know you didnt ask me but who ever told you ACANA is a bad food knows nothing about dog food. ACANA is a great dog food it's made by the same company that makes Orijen. It's one of the top five dog foods out there so dont worry keep feeding your dog ACANA your alright.

Organ meat (hearts, liver) are great for dogs. Taste of the wild gave my dog diarrhea. She ate and loved orijen tundra. I truly believe the champion foods I fed her extended her life. Besides I won’t feed my dog anything from Diamond

taste of the wild gave my dog the worst gas I'v ever smelled. Bison formula if I recall correct.
I would say that for your dog that formula was to rich for sure you might want to try a lighter one like a fish bass formula.
@@AdamYourDogTrainer That was years ago. Now I use Natural Balance Duck and Potato and it works great for my Lab/Dane mix and two pugs. They didn't like NB Fish formula and my lab/dane got really gassy on the NB Lamb formula as well. But that big boy gets gassy on most foods.

There should never be plant protein/carbohydrates above meat protein. Potatoes are starchy carbohydrates and should not be in a formula. So TOW would lose in my books for those two reasons.

?????? Byproducts? Liver and heart are important sources of nutrients. Liver supplies vitamin A and D, among other things, and heart gives coenzyme Q10, among other things. I'm confused by your assumptions

I want to get my pup Orijen but it's extremely expensive. Better off buying raw protein and mixing it in with the costs effective food.
Acana is a good alternative, basically the same but a little less protein, and they're both made by Champion pet foods
Yes they are ... Champion foods is the parent company of both Acana and Orijen. I would look at solid gold wet food to add. It is amazing food and at that same level of nutrition!!
I feed TOTW, seeing origen’s ingredients looks so much better than TOTW. Actual high quality ingredients, the first half of the ingredients is just high quality meat, then some greens(and not potatoes), fruit, more greens, and freeze dried meats(good too).
TOTW almost killed my dog bc of some contamination at the plant or something. It actually did end up killing some dogs. Messed up their kidneys if I remember right.

I believe that TOTW was not recalled for kidney issues it was Blue. I could be wrong.
@@AdamYourDogTrainer I actually dont think TOTW was recalled at all. It was just a lot of costumers complaining the food caused vomiting and diarrhea which led to dehydration. Dehydration always leads to kidney problems. But I also could be wrong

Orijen original made my dog sick. Now she won't eat kibbles. Stay away from this brand. Too good to be true.
It could be that the kibble is to rich for your pups stomach. That is a very common thing with a lot of high end foods.

Pet food reviewers need to ditch the ridiculous water tests they don't show anything other than the foods density in relation to water.
In the top best foods of 2019, Orijen is #1, Taste of the Wild is #4.

TOTW is cheaper filler with poor protein. Half the bags ingredients are synthetic vitamins because the cheap food source they use is powdered protein and powders vegetables. TOTW is just as bad as a corn based food with its empty calories and synthetic vitamins. You can tell a huge difference when feeding quality food. This guy has to be sponsored by TOTW and doesn't even disclose it. He is not a trust worthy person or he is just unable to critically think.

Adam Your Dog Trainer bro look it up and you will see how bad it really is. Just look at the ash levels. Their protein is mostly just the carcass, bone and little meat and was turned into powder using high heat. How is that any good. I use to feed this food. I switched to wellness and feed half as much and my dog gained more weight and had a way better coat. And wellness isn’t even the best dry kibble. TOTW is over processed to the point that is on the same Nutritional level as Beniful. Just filler with synthetic vitamins.
