  • Hello, you absolute LEGENDS of MTB. 🙌🏼
Today, I am sharing my progression experience of the "top section" of Corkscrew at the Forest of Dean, and sessioning a section I have struggled with, something I have found that helps me to progress in mountain biking.
This is NOT the whole trail, I apologise, I am just showing my 1st run down the top section of the trail and my difficulty with a particular section here, where I felt I needed to make improvements to tackle these features more effectively and competently.
Please, join me as I show you my 1st run that was a bit wobbly to say the least, some sessioning of the section I was unsure of, and what I felt was my best run on this section of Corkscrew.
For me, it is days like this, using things I have learned from group rides and coaching, that have helped me to progress a little as a rider, and tackle larger features such as Y2K as you can see at the end of this video, and a trailI hope to share wiht you in a video comming soon.
I hope you can see from this video and my other videos that the coaching I have experienced, as well as group rides and lots of sessioning/practice, has helped to improve my riding just a little and, I am so grateful for the support I have had from this AMAZING MTB community. 🙌🏼
You are all, truly AWESOME 🤩 Thank you. 🙏🏼

I have so much yet to learn after starting MTB last year and I am now getting more time in the saddle than when I started. I am still learning how to ride and practising the basics after my recent and brilliant 1:1 coaching session, and I cannot tell you how much of a difference this has made in my confidence and hopefully my competence on the bike.
Along with learning the basics of MTB, I am learning how to edit and create videos for my family and friends to enjoy and for anyone who has a similar interest in this wonderful and amazing hobby. I also feel that this is particularly true if you are new to MTB, learning from coaching sessions, and especially if you started a little later in life, where we don’t bounce anymore, we tend to snap, crackle and pop. 😉
If, like me you are new to MTB, learning from coaching sessions, and especially if you started a little later in life, where we don’t bounce anymore, we tend to snap, crackle and pop. 😉 Also, If you have ever experienced a crash ❤️‍🩹 and were a little nervous about getting back on the bike, please let me know your experience in the comments, and I would love to respond.
As always, this is Jason the Muppet wishing you absolute LEGENDS Happy Trails. 😊

Great video, I have only ridden Corkscrew once, last run of a great day at FoD, and I made pretty much all the same mistakes as you - I say mistakes, more like learning curves! I feel I will ride it better now as my ability has improved, but also good to see how you have broke it down...

@@Matty-B-on-an-MTB Thank you so much, 🤩 that is so kind of you and I am always happy to show my mistakes and I will always show videos where I messed up to show how mistakes can be made and then hopefully practicing again and again to make improvements. 🤞🏼
Mistakes also just happened today at Bike Park Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 where I checked on my friend behind me on “Rim Dinger”’ and I fell over into the verge on the side. 🤣
Wishing you the very best for you on getting more confidence as I am also trying to do. 🤙🏼
Sending you good vibes ✊🏼 and wishing you Happy Trails, my friend. 🤙🏼

@@JJsMTB I'm at bpw on Monday! Last time I was there I hit a tree!! 🌴 Nothing heavy though!!

@@Matty-B-on-an-MTB My goodness, I hope you were OK and did not have any serious injuries. 🤞🏼
The updates they have given to the trails at Bike Park Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 are AMAZING, 🤩 and completely blew my mind. 🥹
I knew changes had been made and updates to the trails had taken place but…WOW 🤩 it was incredible. From the small changes on Sixtapod, the slightly bigger but fantastic changes on Wibbly Wobbly and Viscous Valley, to the stunning updates on Melted Welly making it my new #1 Blue trail at the park, it a SUPERB day and the trails were all so dreamy. ☺️
I just know you will have a fantastic time and can’t wait to hear a hear about it when you return home, and hope you will update me here about your visit, my friend. ☺️
Sending you positive vibes ✊🏼 and wishing you many, many Happy Trails, my friend. 🤙🏼

@@JJsMTB Well I think you are one of the mildest mannered and chatty you tubers i have chatted to here! Love it!🤩
It was sixtapod where i hit the tree funnily enough, my fave trail there - pending Monday! I just landed a little off centre, veered right and clattered a conifer! Luckily, i'd just switched to full face helmet! Just dented my pride!
A470 was closed this time last year, so looking forward to seeing what they have done to that, and it was the old vicious valley too, so going to spend the morning helping my girlfriend get down VV after warming up on sixtapod, then in the afternoon i desperately want to ride A470, AC-DC and Coal not Dole! Maybe pushing myself a bit far, but we'll see! I'm not the best jumper, but i love drops!
There is a video on my channel of my tree incident last year, BTW. Although it was made on an old Chinese go-pro imitation camera that was pretty shakey at best! I have a newer go-pro now, so will post some footage next week, although have promised the girlfriend she can wear it more than me on Monday, as it always seems to be footage of me!
Ride safe buddie - and have another subscription on me!
      😁

I have just subscribed to your channel and will now leave a lovely review for you on your video.😊
May I also suggest you try the updated "Melted Welly", as this is now as smooth as riding on crushed velvet and is so smooth and flowy it is now my #1 favourite Blue trail at Bike Park Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and I think you and your Girlfriend will LOVE it, and I cannot wait for you to both try this updated trail. 🤙🏼
Ride safe, have fun, sending good vibes 👊 and wish you and your girlfriend many, many Happy Trails. 🤙🏼

I took my wife to session the shark fin into drops at corkscrew. As a post-partal, slightly overweight, curvy MTB rider, I made sure she committed to the far left line, which you managed to do eventually. The key to the drop is to aim for the centre of the slab, since you have the best clearance for your bottom bracket at that point. Technique-wise, you're better off applying a commited drop technique with your feet sweeping the bike in front of you to get the BB clear. You can straighten your bike up on landing so that you can have a straighter line on the drop.
When I was coaching the wife, a lot of the mistakes were done out of hesitation and lack of commitment to the roots. You'll have a surprising amount of grip once you're rear wheel is clear of the V-fan on the root to be able to slingshot you into the shark fin. It's better to hit the drop and carry the momentum than it is to put last minute steering corrections to avoid the drop, because you'll be losing traction at a critical moment.
Wife did an edit of me on corkscrew, with my intention of showing her that you can absolutely hit all the features slowly and safely. It's a great track for progression.

@@Titot182 KUDOS, 🤙🏼 and well done for coaching her and helping her to smash the trails. ☺️
I have so much to learn, and so much more to do in order to become more confident, and competent, and I am being a tiny bit better as I break down a trail as you can see that I have reviewed the section I was unsure of, and the Sessioning, and practice, practice and more practice without a coach to make me feel more comfortable. 🥹
Learning to take a trail and break it down when you are unsure and on your own, as you can see in this video I was on my own after being shown this trail for the first time, and breaking it down to session I do believe this has helped me a tiny bit. 🥹
Small progress is good for me, riding each time and making small improvements in tiny steps has helped me, and really made me feel a little more confident from what I have learned from the LEGENDS on Group Rides have taught me. ☺️
For me, Group Rides, coaching and time in the saddle has made a huge difference to me, and honestly humbled me in making small improvements. 🤞🏼
Sending you and your wife many, Happy Trails, my friend. 🤙🏼

Fair play. It's easy to get sucked in doing laps after laps and forget that doing right is kinda more important, than doing many kilometers. Keep shredding!
