This guy is a legit vendor and one of his modules fixed my problem. I don't change parts without first diagnosing/testing, and when my '98 Tahoe's battery went stone-cold dead leading to a stuck-on SECURITY light and a no-start, I did seriously comprehensive diagnostics using a factory service manual and multi-meter, checking voltages, grounds, signals, on the harness, at the connectors, etc. So I KNOW my components were good, except for what looked to be a bad module. I purchased a "55" module a few days ago, went through the key relearn process (also had to erase passlock-related dtc codes with a scan tool) and my Tahoe came to life.

*WARNING: FIRST LOOK at your KEY! Does it look WORN-OUT with rounded edges? I actually got two IDIOT lights on the dash come on. ENGINE and SECURITY and I read the code as SECURITY KEY ERROR. Simple, my key was worn out and did not push the lock tumblers high enough any longer. I had the Locksmith make me a key that had taller dimensions by shimming the key in the "KEY" copying machine. This new key pushed the pins up higher like the old stock key used to and it worked fine after that. $25.00 and FIXED!*

I bought one for 1998 GMC ; installed it and the relearn did not work. I tried to call the number that came with the instructions , but it did not work. I called Importa auto and the fellow wno help.Basically he said if we can't see your truck in person we can't help you. Truck still does not run.

I had seen a video that you can cut the purple wire and ground it as you turn the key. And take the box out? We did try it and it did work. For how long don't know??? But did say if your battery ever dies you will need the box.
If your security light doesn't come on when you turn the key just twist a little further until it does. My 98 Chevy conversion van light wouldn't come on until I turned it to almost start it

If the light is on solid, the module will not learn the key. Solid light typically means a bad module and you can't usually tell a bad board from a visual inspection.

Hi I have a 98 it had been going dead during driving well after a tow. I replaced the ignition module. The truck started first try didn't even do the relearn it ran for about an hour. Then shut of abruptly "glad I made it back in the driveway👍🏻" With security light solid it has been solid since changing the module. Do you think I need one of your repaired devices?
I installed one in my savana but it was a different part number i was able to realern it and get the van running but will there be a problem becaus of the difference in part numbers
I'm looking for the passlock module in my 1999 GMC Safari and I can't find one like you show in this video. I need to find it to get the right number off it before ordering from you. It's supposed to behind the radio near the driver's right knee... however, the box I have there says "Remote Function Actuation Module"... is this my Passlock box?
Thats not the box. To get to the module, you need to remove the dash bezel, the radio and stick your hand all the way to the right. Its hidden in a little pocket. Usually held on with one 7mm bolt that is excessively long.

I have verified that bulb works. I've never seen a passlock problem where the light does not come on... have you? I've also verified that fuel to my engine is being killed by the computer. Still - there no security light. Ever.
@@StuntDummyLives Thats surely not a common issue. The ground for the bulb is provided by the passlock module. If you can, check for power to the passlock, and check ground at the passlock. It may be a broken wire.

I ran low on oil during the pandemic and my Roadside Service Provider wouldn't/couldn't get me a tow truck so I was forced to drive and blow my engine. I spent a month and built a brand new engine and installed it into my 1999 Astro and it would start and run for 2 seconds then die. Every time. I was pulling my hair out for 2 weeks. I had no security light on the dash and couldn't find the right module. Anyhow, I thought my module would be totally fried and I would need to buy a new one from you. However, you were right, it was just a ground. As soon as I gave a ground to the module, the van fired right up and stayed running. The security light is even working. I cannot thank you enough for helping me!
I own a 97 Silverado everyone says that year doesn't have passlock system. It starts then dies, it has no security light on the dash but that passlock module is in it right next to the ashtray! Where I see other guys on youtube pulling it from, it also has the ignition with the 3 passlock wires above the cylinder. It is a Canadian truck maybe they added this in early in Canada? Has anyone else encountered this? Any info would be great. Thanks for the vid!
Will this cut then injectors off. I replaced my head gaskets had my battery disconnected on my 04 silverado for 2 days and now my injectors will not fire up do to the pass lock. Plz help I just want my truck on the road.
Do you know anything about the passkey locks. I have a 2003 escalade ext and my key doesn't have the transponder or chip. It's just a standard key. But I saw nothing about having one of these modules in my truck. I know you're dealing with vehicles from 98 to 2002 but I'm just inquiring.

On my 99 Chevy SuburbanI I turn the key to the on position, and if I see the light blinking it doesn't start, and when the light is steady on it starts . So you made your gadget to do it in reverse ... Why ?
Blinking means its in "key learning mode". Once the key is learned(After the 33 minute process), the light should turn on for 2-3 seconds before turning off every time you start or key on the truck. If the light stays on while the truck is running, there is likely another fault in the system. My testing rig is not backwards. its engineered the same as a vehicle. -Eric

@@benking4252 thats a different system as thats the next generation of truck from this system. It sounds like a wiring issue, as the scan tool is probably providing a power or ground that you are missing.

My security light turn off when turning the key before crank still won't start it cracks it has fuel pressure fuel pump turns on still won't start why key is not the issue why??? Already replaced that box
I checked still no sign of spark and fuel injection electric that is something that is about the security still hope this helps to all to a short of a wire and a lead that is a factory mistake

Have you thought about reproducing them in their entirety, and having them made in China? You can spec them with whatever chips, resistors, etc. that you want, and they'd be brand new.
Thats an avenue that likely has a whole set of issues associated with it. I think the best course of action is to fix what we have here. We have about 600 of these in stock at any given time.
I usually am always able to start it after the 10minute relearn process but it’s starting to get annoying having to do it more frequently lately , is this the part I need to replace for the security light to stop turning on ? There’s a lot of videos on here about cutting wires but I’m not sure I want to mess with wires.
If the truck won't start and the security light is on solid, this is the most likely culprit. If the light is flashing repeatedly, its more than likely not a bad module.
Well yesterday I had to do the 10 minute relearn process because it was flashing and then it started up but the light has been on and stays solid when I’m driving it

Pro Rebuild no I don’t have one , the sucurity light hasn’t flashed or turned on the past two days truck starts right up. But I know it will do it again eventually. my 98 is doing the same, cranks fires for one second then dies, security light stays lit always, relearns do no good, may try one of these and see if it helps if I can find any details on how hard it is to install or anything

45 percent of the time its the module,,the other percentage is either wiring or missing power,,,

It might, but you really want to match up with those module numbers to be sure.

the 2002 uses a different style which is readily available at your local dealership. This will not work in your truck.

If the light turns off, the key learn process is complete. Have you checked to see if you have any codes? what about RPM signal?

an 03 tahoe does not have this system so this will not help you.
Rock auto has them are they the same ones as yours ?
