Thank you Lisa. We love this community and believe that everyone has the right to share their opinion (we think it's what makes UA-cam special). Just asking people to understand that we're just two humans sitting behind the other screen and that this video makes us very vulnerable. Cannot thank you enough for being you, for being a part of our family and for sending your love + light. I send it all right back to you XX

From a follower who has 73 years of life, entrepreneurship, experience let me encourage you guys with the fact that "normal" people/the average aren't the ones that have advanced society or culture. It takes lonely adventurers to make the changes that make the world a better place. You two are some of the most genuine, honest people. I absolutely love your authenticity. There is "something" about you guys that draws me to look forward to viewing everything you post! One of yalls best videos. No other channel that I have seen has been this honest and real. That's what makes people relate and differentiates you from the world. Yeah, the strive for perfection is one thing we all face especially in 2020 but at the end of the day we are all dealing with our own things and seeing the not so shiny side of life really grounds yall and makes you relatable. One of my fav things about your videos is that you do include bloopers, mistakes, and now vulnerabilities. Just remember that "EVERYTHING IS TEMPORARY." It's the best quote I've ever heard and stands true to EVERYTHING. All these emotions of doubt or insecurity will eventually fade and you will be back on the more positive side. Remember you dont get good without bad. Dont get happy without sad. It's all temporary and will all pass, so be aware of it, feel it, and know it will soon pass. It's all a part of being human! You are getting more and more supporters, costumers, and viewers every single day! Much love! Peace!🥰🥰🥰❤

Love your beautiful honesty and transparency. Just a reminder that stability is an illusion. Houses burn down. Businesses fail. Families experience catastrophes whether they live in a van and have a nomadic life or a house with a job and a boss. Your stability is your ability to be resilient and shift your focus back to your passion and what your intuition tells you to do next. Sounds like you are both a bit overwhelmed. Love to you both. You ARE making an incredible impact, but impact is in the eye of the beholder. All you can do is create the space of possibility and live your most joyful, transparent, love-filled, passion-filled life. It's all beautiful...even the tears.

Sometimes you just have to decide if what you’re doing will fulfill your needs for security and happiness. You two aren’t even 30 yet you’ve traveled and done more already than many will see in their lives. Do you realize how big that is? That can never be taken away! Most people will tell you that when you’re older your regrets will be more what you didn’t do than what you did. Big hug for you both and good luck with whatever you two decide. Thanks for keeping it real.❤️✌️🏻🚐

Thank you both for sharing the difficulty and fear and questions that there are in not going the traditional path, it's always helpful to me to hear other humans navigate the same things that I go through 'cause as you said Eamon, it's a lonely life. I believe it is lonely not because we don't have coworkers or a boss but because we are not going the traditional path and we have to make our paths ourselves.
Thank you for being real, it helps a lot.

*oh man* , I've definitely been there Bec & Eamon.
Literally 4 weeks before our wedding, I lost one of my biggest video clients. I had been solo fulltime for about 5 months, and this client was the pillar to make the transition to Marriage a lot more "safe."
It felt very personal and was hard for me to get over mentally. I thought about it daily for about 3-4 months. It only got easier when there was more time in between.
The roller coaster of living an unconventional life is certainly very real. I do beleive the process of seeing the journey all the way through, brings about a life that has far more "mountain top moments" than any other way of doing it.
It feels like there is a lot more risk in this path, but what seems riskier is the golden hancuffs of a job that doesn't challenge you, doesn't provide a path towards freedom, has no online community, and doesn't have greater rewards for smart effort and strategy over a long period of time.
It is lonely in it's own unique ways though, Janelle and I have not found answers to that yet.
Look forward to seeing you two soon!!

I work the grind and also am a Run Coach. Everything and everyone has their ups and downs. So don’t feel lonely. My days start at 4:50am and usually end around 8:30pm. Because I get up and meet clients to run early in the morning, go to the YMCA to shower and get ready for work, work 9-10 hours, then leave work to go back to the YMCA to change and meet more clients to Coach. It’s ok to always question decisions but at the end of the day, you take the good with the bad and life moves on. Do what you enjoy and keep up the good work! Love following your journey!

It takes courage to be honest and vulnerable on social media, you guys are awesome. Just wanted to add that stability comes from loving parents/parent, a loving environment, family, and everything else is an illusion. I watch Bus Life NZ, a family living on the road who's children are having the time of their lives, learning from all the experiences, nature and their parents. You can do it in an non-traditional manner and raise amazing human -beings and still be honest to yourselves and your creative lives.

Thank you for being honest, the 'van life' is often pictured as such a relaxing care free and easy lifestyle, and it is easy to miss some of the realities, especially from an outsiders perspective. Welcome to being a small business owner! It sucks sometimes but look at the positives. We all get the slumps and highs. Take stock in your position, you get to travel as your “job”, you’re in a small group of people who’ve made a career out of doing what you love. Learn from the bumps, don’t take it personal (it is business) and keep rolling. Remain positive for your partner because attitude is contagious. Even if it’s forced it can keep you and your partner from spiraling. 👍🏽🚐💨

We have been where you are many times over the last 43 years. Being self employed has its ups and downs, thank goodness for bread and soup. Now semi retired at 66(still working for self), I see what our friends have, and sometime wishing we had more. But looking back we have had greater adventures and freedom than anyone we know personally. I could go on, life has taught us many things, but It can be summed up in a comment an elderly neighbor once said after talking about a trip we had taken, "I have always wanted to do that, but when I was younger I didn't have the time or money, now I have the time and money but not the health." If we knew the future, life would be easy. Good luck in all you do, and thanks for sharing. I believe doing what we do( being entrepreneurs, risk takers), makes it possible for others to have traditional lives.

I feel we are so privileged that you allow us into your lives, not just the pretty side (like so many other UA-camr's) but the very real sides as well. The downs that come inbetween the ups, the struggles and the triumphs, your feelings, your vulnerabilities, your joys, your "fights" (really just disagreements), your self judgment, your love for each other and your families etc etc. You are, together and separately, an inspiration to so many. Even though we've never met we LOVE you and we respect you for all that you are doing and all that you are achieving. I've been wondering since watching this if you've ever thought of expanding your product line? Bec, remember Everything Happens For A Reason!! I taught my four ( now adult) kids and many's the time that belief has gotten them through a very difficult challenge because they know they are going to grow and learn. Some risk taking is good because it helps you to push your boundaries and grow. Remember that to be brave you must experience fear.... Anyway, enough of that, lol. In the end you are loved. The community YOU have built loves you and supports you! Sending you both blessings 🙏 Love from Australia 🇦🇺 💝

hey Bec, do yourself a quick solid, go outside, take a deep breath and look around, and remember, all that scary stuff and all that hard work has led you to right here and right now, and tommorow and any day after it will lead you to so many more awesome places and awesome people (same way it led you to the Minimal Millenials for instance), meanwhile I am stuck here in my little flat in the dreary Netherlands yet I still think one day I will get out of here because thanks to people like you I know it's possible, will there be struggles along the way? sure! but if you ask me they are more then worth it! and from what I have seen so far from your videos I think you are a lot stronger then you give yourself credit for

I cried with you.. entrepreneurship is an insane narrow road and you guys are traveling two+ with both of your businesses.. my hat is truly off to you. A word of advice: having kids is hard and beautiful no matter where you live or how you make money. It doesn't have to be expensive just like you've chosen a van to live in instead of an insane mortgage on a "normal" home. It's all in the daily choices. You guys will do great! Don't compare yourselves to others' lives because you are trailblazers.. Don't ever forget it!! Much love my friends!!❤️ Also, thank you so much for sharing this tough video!!!!!!!

The problem with being creative/entrepreneurial types is "to many ideas" . The inevitable outcome of this short attention span is the inability to see a good idea through to its potential.
Tea: You have worked hard to get customers for your product. You know these customers buy more than Chai. You could expand your line but a new idea charms away your attention. Your creative nature makes it impossible to follow through. I'm guessing; Bob, as willing as he is to help is not going to take that business where it should go. He's done his thing. He wants to cruise around in his van and he should.
The only way to pursue multiple endeavors is with partners. Get someone to work closely with you to push that tea business.
Everyone of these avenues you're attempting deserves more attention than you can possibly give. You will always have more ideas than you can execute. Find people who "can" focus, share ownership and see it through.
You didn't really ask for my advice, but that's what you get for baring your soul. Ideas are great but they make it hard to meditate.

      @eamonandbec  6 років тому +3

Hi Robert, appreciate the advice! I actually think it is something we've needed to hear because as much as we want to give all of these avenues 110% we're only two people and the time has come to find some strategic partners. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us!

When I started my own business I met a guy who had a startup. He wisely told me that the main difference is that the ups will be real highs and the downs will be very deep crashing. It is like living in a van, living abroad (like me) or having a different life. It is a rollercoaster. The ups will be higher and the down will be lower than a normal life, but it is worth it, at least for me. It is not for everyone but I works for me. I would not know how to live a regular stable life. It gives me anxiety!
Keep fighting for what you want.

Got a government job. Safe and stable, health insurance, pension and retirement. I won't be a millionaire, but I'll be comfortable and fulfilled knowing I've been of service to the people. However, the trade off is your stuck in a single location and have a boss that tells you what to do at times and deadlines. So my point is everything is a trade off, everything needs a balance. Find your balance. I love my job and it hardly feels like work. Stay hungry, stay balanced.

Ah, that's life. Things doesn't always go as we'd like them to but... life goes on and we should not let the downs pull us down with them. Learn with the movements and adapt or move from them, not from what you want for your life.
You make a great couple, love to see the way you complement each other to make the bond stronger between you both. This is what I like about you, the relationship between you reflects on your adventures and make them more interesting to us. Or to me, at least.
Keep being yourself, learn from the ups and downs of life, enjoy each other and share whatever you want, whenever you want. So your channel will as nice to watch as it is real.

It's interesting to watch this video just because I have the same thoughts even though my life might be a bit more traditional. I am going to school full time and only have a associates degree which took me five years even though its a 2 year degree and I'm finally getting my undergrad. Anyway I look around and see people being more "successful" then me. I watched your videos and thinking the same thing, thinking you have it all together and here I am doing nothing.I keep thinking about what I do wrong too. I think this is something that everyone struggles with for the most part. I think that's why it's so important being open about it. I hope you have better luck and I also hope that your channel grows more because you two deserve it. I cannot wait for your podcast. We all have these feelings. I'm 34 and my husband and I moved across the country from Tennessee to the Bay area and literally everything went wrong every step of the way. We stayed in the Bay for 6 months with people that we trusted and they completely turned on us and everything went to shit. We had to skip town and now we are in Tucson trying to make the best of it.
We've been here since March and my husband still can't find a job, I'm not making good money, everything is stressful and hard and we have no savings, renting a room from some friends, and feel completely screwed. But it will get better.
You guys have done so much with your life and you are strong, smart people. We will all keep moving forward and have amazing experiences and do wonderful things. Just gotta keep that chin up and hold on to the ones we love.
I, too, am very emotional and when I do anything I put my whole heart in it. If I say I'll do something I do it. I'm not a quitter and I'm super loyal, so I get your feels Bec. You will be okay, you will do the thing, it will get better.

Guys..I'm no expert but losing an account that is going single stream really speaks more to the change in your client...good or bad...but having said that with a product such as yours, keeping to the client that is the true target of the non single source client isn't always a bad thing. I understand the loss, but perhaps the loss is theirs more than yours, let the gain be in finding another client that has a more refined focus in mind that better matches your product. Sometimes small needs to stay with small...that in many ways it what certain customers like myself really look for...while I am a patron of the mainstream, other times I want small, refined, and special focused businesses like yours. As a photographer, I have been through things like you as well. Hang in there.

Hey folks, I worked for myself for years. I have been broke and rich. Not knowing how to make a mortgage payment to flying private. Toughen up, it will happen again. You are young and suffering is important. You will do great things but it will be hard so push and when it looks the worst push harder. Borrow, ask for help, tell friends, do what needs to be done. Most people cannot live on thier own, y'all can so dry up - it is not supposed to be easy. Y'all will get there and when you do, it will feel good.

  • @12kfh
    @12kfh 6 років тому

You gotta let that emotion out! Speaking for myself (but I feel many others as well)- I appreciate the candid conversation. I actually try and limit social media use because of the phenomenon of comparing myself to everyone's else's best selves which makes me feel not good enough. I think this is highly relatable. I am currently building out a van. I have a bachelor's degree and I wonder everyday if I'm wasting time I can't get back on not pursuing a master's and phd and getting a "stable" job. But I've also learned that I can't be happy in conventional job settings - I feel like I'm in a prison and claustrophobic, always have. But I still stress every day because if I don't go the academic route, I have no idea what to do. So the existential crisis I totally am right there with you. A lot of things in my life have changed drastically the past few years and I see friends getting married, having children, buying houses... and I wonder when I'm going to get it together, but we each have our own paths and I think what you guys are doing is extremely brave and inspirational. So thank you for sharing and being REAL - the world needs both sides of the truth (in general), not just the shiny, polished side. It's good for our mental health.

Thanks for sharing so honestly. The entrepreneur community needs more of this. Totally relate in terms of the highs and lows. Been running my own small business for the last few years and I can't tell you how many times I've doubted my abilities, sunken so low only to be uplifted the very next week. Nobody truly gets it unless you've been in it. Trust yourself and know that you are savvy, smart and driven. And that you have each other and get to have a great adventure! Look forward to the podcast.
