I can't believe there are so few views for this video.They were great and I'm glad to see they are still around. My whole family used to watch them regularly. Really happy to see this!
My sisters were several years older than I, and fans of theirs. They bought almost all the albums, so of course I heard all the comedy they were putting out, then the show came on, and we all watched it. I'm so glad these guys are still with us, and were able to be inducted into the NCC, a well deserved honor. ♥

The Smothers Brothers changed comedy for so many comics and my generation. It's amazing what they went through, seems relevant even today. Compared to todays comics, what was the fuss about? Thank you!
I'm so grateful to have grown up as a young teen watching The Ed Sullivan Show and The Smothers Brothers Show every Sunday night, but particularly the Smothers Bros. because of their folk music - i.e. protest music - roots. Plus, there were/are so damn funny to go along with their supreme musical talent.

Yes, John, totally agree! I'm a tad younger than you (70)! I'm so glad we have youtube so we can look back at some of their great moments! I thought George Carlin was very clever. I can remember him when he was "clean"...! He was very insightful and definitely thought provoking. Doesn't seem to be that kind of intelligent humor today. Too much profanity, not enough substance.
And Carlin was their hippy dippy weatherman!
I love these guys and even though they have aged they look great and remain sharp. The political power has shifted since the 1960's, but warmongering, lying, censorship, cronyism, lack of consideration for the "little people," and persecution of those who don't "think right" remain. I can't wait until the new generation of Smother's Brothers comes into full maturity. I think they will likely develop on platforms like UA-cam if they are allowed. Genius in process: No screaming, no fires, no destruction, just gentle funny truth spoken to the heart of America.
Yeah, I miss the "gentle funny truth" of Mark Twain, Will Rogers, Bob Newhart. I don't see that around now.
I think they were the ONE and ONLYS. No new generation. We were soooo lucky to have had them as long as we did!!

This is incredibly touching! As a very small child The Smothers Brothers cracked me up and warped my little brain. I am thrilled to see they've been included prominently in the Comedy Center. Now I'm 54 and living in Rochester, New York. Hopefully in this summer 2020 I'll be able to visit your institution. Stay well & stay safe! Thanks for posting. What a wonderful piece!

As a kid I loved watching and laughing with these talented muso clowns. And they're still around! 👍
Every time I listen to Stephen Colbert's monologs, I'm reminded of the sacrafice the Smothers Brothers made in the na.e of free speech. If they hadn't started the push, Stephen's monologs wouldn't be as sharply critical as they are today.
A network contract represents a hell of a lot of money. They made the right choice. We're all far wealthier for what they did.
Amazing! He is on CBS too. Some of cable stuff is not so funny as it is crude. Lack of taste can make people laugh but it is sometimes the laugh of embarrassment as a tension release. It can be funny and crude but not funny is just crude.

After their Thanksgiving 1968 show, my dad banned their show from our home.
I was only about seven during their "heydays," but I always saw it at a friend's house because his parents were younger, more progressive, and "hip/mod" than mine.
God took him first so I guess he loved him best…
Now we focus on their political integrity but they were the very best comedians too !
They made me the sarcastic, wise cracking, dry sense of humor smartass, I am today, my dad,(42 years old at the time) thought they were hilarious too. It wasn't just the kids and teenagers, he was pissed off just like Tommy was when CBS fired them
You can find out who is in "charge " by who you are not allowed to criticize. Military industrial complex. Same now as it was when they were fired !

WHEN did they get this old ... grey hair? Come on! Oh yeah ... I'm 75 and I have the same grey hair except mine is just salt and pepper, not all white. But I loved their show. They were funny.

Though Nixon was in office for 60+ days when they got fired. Still, that effort was and remains in vein as Vietnam forever hangs on old Lyndon's legacy as much as Nixon w/ Watergate, Reagan and Reaganomics, Clinton, etc.
J Edgar Hoover probably had a file on them, to be sure! And people get uptight about the FBI today, jeesh....I digress....

Bull mess. My conservative family never did that and they always loved the show! I grew up watching them and guess what- stereotype boy- I'm a conservative too.
