I was a student at The Ohio State University in 1987…the day Woody passed. I’ll never forget the solemness and the grieving that the ENTIRE university displayed. Just the passing of a great great man!😢
Woody was so much more than a football coach. I remember reading a book a few years ago called 'Woody's Boys'. No one knew him better than his players, and nobody lived him more than those guys. He was a great, multi-faceted man with flaws, like anybody else. But as a football coach, he made Ohio State what it is today. He'll never be forgotten.
Woody spoke at my graduation on 3/21/86. But my biggest regret was walking through the Oval for an 8 a.m. class and seeing Woody walk right past me. I froze and did not introduce myself. He looked so serene. There was hardly anyone else outside that early. But I'll never forget it, and will always regret it.
Wayne Woodrow "Woody" Hayes is the greatest Buckeye of all time-he will always be cherished and beloved amongst us Buckeye fans. You are still greatly missed and to watch Woody in tears truly shows the love he held for OSU and the alumni.Paying forward is what I have always lived my life by based on this speech he gave that day.Say what ever you want about Woody but he was a remarkable man and a true legend.
I was there....As a student, Worked the Banquet in his honor and met the man as he sat in a wheelchair. One of the greatest moments of my life
